I think it's a little unfortunate that Jaden is being used as a prodigy and basically piggy-backing the success of his parents--at least for the time being. I think there are very few movies that can be re-make, maybe because the technology was not there when they where film it, or maybe you can get a better cast of actors.
But Karate kid, it just something you dont need to re-make.
And as a plus, i think they are just making it , to give a push to the Will Smith boy.

I agree. Until Hollywood stops churning out these truckloads of uninspired, overdone, egotistical, recycled crap, movie remakes should be illegal. This sounds as bad as it does on paper. The original Karate Kid wasn't some pompous, self-conscious flick. It was low-key, and the general vibe is a mellow, humble one. But a Will Smith production is going to be full of Hallmark "inspiration" and cliches. An afterschool TV special would be more deep.
