  • He got two feet inbounds but it wouldn't matter anyway because back then the pile on is considered inbounds.

  • Look, the bigger problem here is that this did not get reviewed. Regardless of whether or not its a touchdown or not it was never looked at upstairs. Now that being said... He caught the ball and part of his body touched the pile-on. That would equal possesion. Mike Holmgren was livid that this was not looked at upstairs and he was right to be. Even if it did not get overturned why wouldn't you take a closer look in a game of this magnitude? BTW, force out in 2006 equals possesion.

  • @nbk4dv9 Dude, he was out of bounds. He was not forced out, and you're a damn retard if you think he was.

  • @gf19711 Um, its not really what I think, however, the booth did not even take a second look when on any given close play under 2:00 they are obligated to do so. Coaches cannot do it. So Mike Holmgrens hands were tied and voiced his displeasure on his way to the locker room. But this isn't the first time this has happened in the NFL and it sure as hell will not be the last. Just watch the last 5 minutes of any bronco game this season in which Denver was able to keep a game close...

  • its not colledge you need to get both feet in

  • Ok you people are idiots... To say that clearly wasn't a touchdown is beyond me. FIRST foot is down with possession SECOND foot hits the pylon which is considered in bounds

  • @Alex47537 No, YOU'RE the fucking idiot. Either learn the damn rules or STFU before you make yourself like like an even bigger retard than you already have. CLEARLY out of bounds, dumbass.

  • @gf19711 force out rule asshole

  • @Alex47537 He wasn't forced out, retard. Open your eyes.

  • @Alex47537 you have to have the ball in bounds over the pile on and he dont so its incomplete go cry over dead rock star druggies

  • just cause u show one good call by the refs doesn't mean there weren't intentional bad calls

  • btw doesnt matter if your feet touch the pylon or if the ball crosses the line, without two feet in bounds to establish possession it doesnt matter where the ball is because you technically dont have posession of it yet

  • clearly out of bounds, good call

  • Yep. Both feet needed to be in bounds upon the completed pass, and only one was in bounds.

  • @kilox10001 I'm actually quite happy with my teams recent success. Sure they lost the last one, but that's bound to happen when you go to the SB every other year.

You don't even know me. Why are you creeping on my profile pic? That's from 4 years ago when I was a freshman. I DID go on to play varsity football, but doesn't have anything do do with this. You need BOTH FEET TO COME DOWN IN BOUNDS to gain possession. That's one of the most basic rules of the game. Even an idiot should know that!

  • @kilox10001 Why do people feel the need to make stupid, ignorant comments on topics they have no clue about? It doesn't matter where the ball is, if you don't get two feet in bounds it's not a catch. It's that simple. I think someone would legitimately have to be mentally handicapped to say otherwise.

  • you have to be on crack to try to say this was a catch...lol you REALLY REALLY REALLY want to believe that seattle won this game don't you?

    hahahahahahhahahah

  • @kilox10001 maybe, but he still didnt get both of them in so its not a catch anyways

  • what kind of moron actually thinks this was a bad call? he only got one foot in, wat's so hard to understand about that?

  • But then again he you cant tell if doth his feet were down when he catches it on the freeze frame. So it is a call that really could go either way. If they zoomed up on it, who knows. It could have been like the Santonio Holmes catch to win the Super Bowl against the Cardinals.

  • This call got me pissed off. I remember Mike Holmgren walking to the locker room at half time being infuriated cause the official told him that he was inbounds. If you look, Darrell Jackson kicks the Pylon before he goes out of bound with his foot. The last I check that would be considered inbounds. You can see when the first foot hits it, it is falling down before he steps out of bounds.

  • @Kferret It doesn't matter if he kicks the pylon - the pylon is in bounds, but it not for the purposes of establishing possession on a catch. You still need two feet on the ground, and in bounds. It's not two feet on the ground and/or pylon.

  • @Kferret Too bad his other foot was out of bounds before hitting the pylon. Even so, i've never heard of hitting the pylon with your foot being in bounds. You need both feet ON THE TURF for a catch. This play simply wasn't even close enough to be open for debate.

  • Well yah of course his feet went out. THat wasnt one of the controversial calls.

  • Both feet went out of bounds

  • I dont know wat that is supposed to be, and that was a fine call but this game was very poorly reffed and it did impact the winner

  • LOL..the fluke Seahawks get pumped by the Bears..people actually think that they were going somewhere...it's not hard to beat a team that has Roman Harper in coverage and a defense that couldn't make a tackle to save a life....

  • Wow, I knew Seattle fans were football stupid, but to think you only need one foot in?? Wow... I suppose this is another way the Steelers supposedly cheated? Learn the rules Seahawks fans.

  • @macbridger We dont even bitch about this one, the refs got this one right. I dont even remember anyone talking about this one. the ones we're mad about are darryll jackson's "pass interference" rapist bens "touchdown" locklear's "holding" and hasselbecks "low block" while making a tackle.

  • @sivret20 The hold on Locklear was a hold. Sorry, you can't wrap your arm around a guy's neck. The low block was called correctly but it was a stupid rule. (Think tuck rule) The OPI was a correct call. D-Jack initiated contact to gain an advantage on the DB. Ben's TD is the real questionable one. Watching live I didn't think he got in. On replay I thought he got the ball across and was pushed back. Close call either way, a matter of inches. None of it would matter if Stevens could catch.

  • U only had to have one foot in this year it wasn't till the year later they changed the rule queerbag goooooo hawwks

  • @Soccermillionaire It has ALWAYS been two feet down in bounds for possession in the NFL.....stick to soccer buddy.

  • it wasnt a catch he only had one foot in

  • Not a catch. Second foot wasn't in. Close but no.

  • @mohlercg youre a stupid nigger

  • i got 3 things from this video

    1.seahawks lost(shocker)

    2.Steelers won(shcoker)

3.mohlercg is a fucking dumbshit cunt bag who should be shot with a wad of his own shit

  • @mohlercg You see them diving because they have already ESTABLISHED BOTH FEET IN and were running for the TD. They have ESTABLISHED possession AND Crossed the plain. He did Neither in this case... He couldn't even get both feet in. NO CATCH !

  • No catch - second foot is clearly out of bounds

  • @mohlercg....... ur a FUCKING IDIOT...what the fuck do they teach u up their in the stupid NORTHWEST.. guy clearly wasnt in..... all of these stupid videos just make SEAsuck fans look like a bunch of pussies....... how about you just worry about the shitty squad who have now...losing to the Oakland Raiders..getting raped by Al daivs in the but cheeks...LOL the NFC West is embarrassing and the SEAsucks will not make the playoffs, if they do they will lose a home playoff game to a better NFC team

  • @jaymac508

I think you were proven wrong...twice...just sayin.

  • close ...but no....damn it

  • @mohlercg sxactly bunch of dumbasses

  • never had his feet down (with possession) in the field of play ... no catch

  • Obviously you need to get two feet down so no TD.

  • He had possession of the ball, the ball was inside the endzone, he did not get both feet in play, if this play was made halfway through the endzone and he stepped out like that noone would argue it.

  • Out of bounds. Right foot never made it in.

  • Fuck Jackson. Drag your feet you jackass!!!!!!!!!!

  • he was so out

  • he never got both feet down so it doesnt matter where the ball is or if it crosses the plane

  • the real score of the game should have been 24 - 14

  • @portugalrocks9 We'll never know what the real score of that game should have been because the refs fucked up so badly, but one thing I know is the score wasn't 21 to 10.

  • But the ball crossed the endzone plane b4 he stepped out bad call

  • @cbearsru1e are you blinded he never had two feet in

  • @cbearsru1e You need two feet in bounds and possesion of the football.

  • @usteeler81 The rules change when your crossing the plane, if you ARE NOT out of bounds when the ball crosses the plane (his foot was not down as it was kicking the pylon) then you score, kind of like all those reach around touchdowns you see all the time.

  • @allbowdown384 I know what you mean.. people all the time are reaching for the endzone as they're going out of bounds yet they get touchdowns.... I really hope the Seahawks make it back to the superbowl soon and I'm really hoping its against the steelers so we can put the hurt on em.

  • Alirght I went researching and it's a touchdown because the goal line extends indefinitely to the sides.

John Madden has said this and also an NFL ref has said this. John Madden said, "it doesn't matter if the ball crossed the goal line inside the pylon because the goal line extends out beyond the pylons." Al Michaels said the NFL rules committee refers to the goal line "extending around the world," even though pylons are present.

  • @Yerizzo "John Madden was correct when he stated that the ball does not have to cross the goal line inside or over the pylon for a touchdown to be scored. To put it very simply: Whenever the ball carrier dives for the end zone and any part of his body passes over the pylon before he touches anything out-of-bounds, it is a touchdown, regardless of where the ball is." Jerry Markbreit NFL Referee.

Now remember this is all before the 2008 ruling.

  • This is hard to tell because we'll need a top down view to see if the ball has broken the vertical plane. It looks like he might of, but it's very close. He just has to have possession of the ball after the fact, which he did. Doesn't matter if he dives for the football while his whole body is out of bounds, he just has to break the plane with the ball and then have possession afterwards no matter if he's out of bounds or not.

  • @Yerizzo Oh yeah I forgot, that rule was introduced in 2007. The ball breaking the vertical plane rule. The rule then was any part of the body hitting the pylon means touchdown. So touchdown.

  • this play wasn't a TD, but if that was Hines Ward he'd be celebrating in the end zone I gaurantee you that. I guess the smaller market teams just have to deal with unfair officiating because the NFL is a well run business...too bad we'll never know who the best team was that year, plus the cardinals got ripped in that game too...STEALERS DIDN'T DESERVE THIS VICTORY!

  • THIS GAME IS TAINTED FOREVER!!! It's such bullshit the NFL told the refs beforehand to tilt the game towards shitsburg just because their dumb fans buy more merchandise and the league makes more money off them because there is nothing else to do in shitsburg besides drink and watch your gay team steal games.

  • He's not even close to being it. HIS WHOLE BODY IS OUTSIDE OF THE ORANGE ENDZONE MARKER. Sour grapes for lots of people!

  • he hasn't completed the catch until he gets his second foot down. he only got 1 foot in (when the video pauses at 0:31). His second step comes down out of bounds at 0:38 - pretty clear. additionally, when you touch the pylon, you are considered out of bounds. if anyone thinks this is a catch, they clearly know nothing about officiating

  • @mae2759 WTHell, if you touch the pylon you're out of bounds? Not after it's called a touchdown first. So then all those plays where the player jumps and hit the pylons while flying out of bounds afterwards weren't supposed to be touchdowns then?

  • @Yerizzo correct, it is- because ball technically breaks the plane of the goal line before hitting the pylon, making it a TD. however this applies to a runner who has already gained possession of the ball in bounds. in this play, he has not completed the catch (only got 1 foot in), therefore does not have possession. it doesn't matter where the ball is if you don't complete the catch first.

"2-2-1b. A player or an airborne player who touches a pylon is out of bounds."

  • @mae2759 True, that's the new ruling from 2008, this was 2005-2006 where the pylon was inbounds and not out of bounds..

  • @Yerizzo But regardless of the pylon in this play, it is not a catch. He did not get 2 feet down to complete the catch, so the goal line or pylon or whatever is a moot point right now.

  • It would have been considered a touchdown for touching the pylon. However his right foot touches the ground out or bounds prior to his foot touching the pylon. I think the Seahawks got ripped in this game but not on this call.. I believe he was out!

  • Comment removed

  • he was out of bounds ?

  • not even debatable. (spelling?) the ball was in

  • @jonbrakke too bad in the nfl you need to get both feet down for a reception. he only had one foot inbounds. incomplete pass. learn the rules

  • @jonbrakke: Sour grapes. His foot comes down out of bounds. NO CATCH! Quit whining.

  • @garyb12001 You are absolutely brilliant! Jackass.

  • This was absolutely the right call. They must get two feet down to complete a catch. The pylon is considered out of bounds. Great call by the official on top of the play. LEARN RULES PEOPLE!!!!

  • @garyb12001 There's only so much you can say to the mentally retarded. So I'm keeping it simple for you.

  • @garyb12001 Go F yourself douche bag.

  • @garyb12001 I'll get you some. NFL is rigged.

  • Jackson's left knee clearly hits the pylon before the right foot hits out of bounds. This is a touchdown. In addition, the football had crossed the plane of the goal line. Fixed game. Rigged for Pittsburgh. Standard.

  • All professional sports are rigged. They are an illusion to keep the populace from focusing on important issues. Plus, by rigging the games they reap the profits of the odds making culture.

  • i think thats the right call since he only had one foot down and u need both down.....i think in past years the only way u could be in with one foot was a force out occurred and it did not......of course now there is no such thing as a force out rule but ANYWAYS.....i think that is the correct call..........now the PI call in this game was bullshit however

  • @Ralenissocold one foot or not rule says once the ball break the plain touch down

  • this isnt even close....he was out of bounds by a mile

  • uh... in pro football BOTH of your feet have to be in bounds. In college and high school only ONE FOOT needs to be in. WTF YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT

  • I'm pretty sure if the ball is in posession of the player with one foot down in the field of play and the other foot hits(knocks over) the pylon before going out of bounds it's called a touchdown.

  • idk what to say im a pitt fan for life but idk if its out of bound or not

  • he was out he only got one foot in on the catch so stop bitching Seattle fans your team is shit anyways

  • @twiistispro Seattle's record is probably going to be better than the Steelers is this year.

  • @twiistispro At least no one on our team loves to sexually assult people. Stealers steal the win, as always

  • Oob

  • doesn't both of his feet have to be down for it to be a catch so that's not a bad call

  • hey UGLY, yea they did bitch because the league came out and said they were wrong and guess what the Steelers stilll won stupid fuck. the steelers just play, the seahawks just cry and hire dumbass coaches, good luck with pete carrol, lol what a joke thats gunna be

  • he was out

  • His right foot MUST be down. The call is correct.

  • and as steelers fan, on that Thanksgiving game back forever ago, he did say he-tails, he did stutter if u really listen closely, but the steelers are the champs of Sb 40 and 43 so that obvs doesnt matter anymore

  • they are the cryhawks bacuse their fans and former fatass coach cry to much

  • The Cryhawks? Hell, the Steelers bawled their eyes out over 1 bad call in Indi.

  • Not knowing the rules to the letter I have nevertheless seen players score touchdowns with all but the football out of bounds. The player reaches out with ball as it crosses over the pylon and gets the score. Here we see that the football crosses the scoreline before D.J.s right foot comes down out of bounds. But this play is the same as when the receiver, in the back of the endzone, comes down with the ball with only one foot in bounds. Thus ruled and incomplete pass.

  • if we would of dragged the right foot he would of been out at the 1, but............. he didnt and the Steelers won 21-10 and life goes on get over it CRYHAWKS

  • cryhawks? that doesnt even rhyme or anything, for shame.

  • Comment removed

  • Deluisional? Open your fucking eyes and ears for Christ' sake you dickhead!! Everyone else can tell that but you. Dumbfuck. He obviously stutters during the toss and you can hear it.

    Bitch!!

  • Uh, NO he said hea- tails. You can see him stutter in the film you moron. You can see it AND hear it.

  • :36 and :37 shows D-Jack had possession of the ball and BOTH FEET were in bounds, thats a TOUCHDOWN

  • Err....no.

:36 shows possesion with ONE foot in. :37 shows his second foot CLEARLY out of bounds. The plyon does NOT automatically equal being in bounds....it only means you reached the endzone. But that doesn't matter UNLESS you had already established possession in bounds....which DJ does not do.

    Period. End of report....

  • As much as I wish it were a TD Jackson's right foot only hits the pylon.

He had possession with one foot in then grazed the pylon which means nothing.

Had he been in bounds and was running towards the endzone then touched the pylon with the ball before going out then it would ahve been a TD in the early 2000's but I think by 2005 even that rule was changed.

Now the pylon is more neutral and doesn't reperesent in or out of bounds but merely a more clear mariking f the endzones location.

  • I don't see what you're trying to prove here. One foot in, one foot out. Kicking the pylon doesn't mean anything.

  • i dont like either team that much, but if it wasnt for all the bullshit calls the seahawks wouldve had that game. they scored more but the refs didnt call there way but all well

  • Seahawk fans (and Steeler haters) are just as whiny as Raider fans (in fact, they're still whining about the immaculate reception to this day). U know what, maybe it was the worst officiated game ever, but for God's sake......................LET IT GO! GET OVER IT ALREADY!!!

Either way...good calls or bad calls, @ least u never hear me complain about the officiating. Hell, I never complained about "coingate" back in 1998.

  • Coingate? Please. Bettis called heads first and then said tails and he was shit out of luck. That is nothing compared to this.

  • THIS GAME WAS RIGGED D-JACK WAS IN

  • One foot in and the other hit the marker... That's in bounds. Game was RIGGED!!!!

  • Ah....hate to break it to you, but one foot in only counts in college ball. Sorry....

  • Look at the replay again @ :37..............He had his left foot in, but his right foot was out before he hit the pylon with his left foot.

  • haha ok....and you look at :36 when his right leg knocked over the pylon before either foot was out of bounds.

  • The marker is the pylon and that doesn't mean TD unless you hit it with the ball while already being in bounds and even then that rule was changed by 2005.

  • game was rigged

  • no the game wasnt rigged the seahawks suck big dick... like rlly did u think u ever had a chance c'mon now how good do u think u are... u never shouldnt of even made it too the Superbowl bc of Tony fucking Homo fumbled the snap.. meanwhile the steelers wer the sixth seed... soo fuck u dude and btw who won the superbowl this year i didnt watch it... all i kno is that Seattle went like 3-13 4-12 GREAT SEASON!!

  • this was our first bad season in a long time dude.

  • Whoa...lol...nice try but Tony Homo fumbling the snap was the season after Seatlle went to the super bowl, becouse after that they went and played the bears, the season they went to the super bowl they had a 1st round bye, then played the red skins and then played the panthers.

  • this play wasn't even reviewed......this superbowl was so obviously rigged it was ridiculous. seahawks dominated that game. horrible.

  • We didn't dominate, we made tons of mistakes and we were embarassed on 3 mega plays.

  • damn the seahawks got jobbed by the refs

  • Ah...no. He got only one foot in. Last I checked this wasn't College FB....

  • Good Point,sir.

  • Ah...yea. This is the NFL and having one foot in bounds and one foot hit the pylon is the same as shaving two feet in bounds. Brutal call.

  • Enough.

I posted a video response under the video "Seahawks got screwed." I think it says it all....

  • i don't really care. i've seen all the biased steelers fans' videos. i'm neither a seahawks nor a steelers fan, i'm impartial, i watched the game live, and i've seen all the footage i need to see. this was the worst officiated game i've ever seen in my life. it's a shame that the refs decided a superbowl champion. if refs can cheat in the NBA, they can do it in the NFL and i'm convinced this is an obvious example of a game being rigged.

  • See that cunt Chris hope got beat again by djack and still we had nothing to show for it 2 tds gone just like that.

  • If his right foot would have hit the inside part of the pylon it would have been a TD.

  • No, it wouldn't. The plyon AS A WHOLE is out of bounds. Period.

Besides, the only time hitting the plyon would give a ballcarrier a TD is if they had ALREADY established possesion INBOUNDS! I can't make it any clearer than that.

He catches the ball at time index 0:33. But he has yet to establish himself as inbounds with the ball - so the plyon is irrelevant. All that's left is to watch his feet:

    Left foot in...

    ...right foot out.

    Incomplete!

  • If you hit the inside part of the pylon, IT IS A TD! WHY? IT BREAKS THE PLANE! If his right foot comes to the inside part of the pylon it wouldve gone over the plane TD. I never said this was a td, because it wasn't unfortunatly.

  • Not in 2005, only in the early 2000s and 1990s.

  • YOur an idiot it dosent matter if he touches the pylon both feet have to come down in bounce on the GROUND not the pylon.....So it was not a catch!! no good!

  • dude dont talk about shit u dont know...the ball broke the plain of the endzone before his foot went out of bounds...thats a td

  • hey that is actually a TD. Notice how his foot hit the right side pylon befroe it hit the out of bounds line. That results in an automatic touchdown. but this had to be the most one sided displayed of officiating in NFL history.

  • Bullshit call...Seattle got ripped off in Superbowl XL, Pittsburgh sucks

  • We lost, we were embarassed by 3 mega plays and made tons of mistakes.

  • @fenstrat jackson never got his right foot down moron

  • @MattyVfromCT according to the rules at the time the pylon is considered part of the field so touching it counts as touching the ground. So it is obvious that DJ got his left foot down, right foot touches pylon.

No matter what it should have been reviewed

  • @lisabob22 that is not true. if that was the case don't you think john madden or al michaels would have said something about it? this is not the ncaa. if you touch the pylon with the ball it will only count as a td IF you have a reception first, being a controlled catch AND touching both feet inbounds which he did not do. that is not a reception. read the rulebook. you can tell yourself all you want that it is but it clearly is not.
