@GoodFebruarian William Wallace would not have a fucking clue what he is talking about, as all his comments regarding arms ,armour and even what he is wearing relate to the 18th century jacobite period, certainly not the medieval period when Scots were dressed and armed very much like thier English and European counterparts
to all scottish nationalists, can I direct you to the very perceptive trainspotting speech: "it's shite being scottish! we're the lowest of the fuckin low!"
I need to get my hands on stuff like this. Unfortunately all I have is a small knife with staghorn handle. It's pretty blunt as well. The leather sheath also got cut through and broken by the blade so there is no longer one.
@d00ft is there a way of contacting you guys for a bit of one on one training? I'm in the south Lanarkshire area and have a wee squad of people interested in learning the old warrior ways
maith an fear! would you know much about irish gaelic warfare? a lot of the dress and weopanry is similar i believe. we have a different type of claomh mór i think
@vegemanvideos Actually when the British Isles were formed hundreds of millions of years ago, Scotland and Ireland were actually part of the land mass that now makes up Canada. Plus after Scotland crashed into England and Wales we were still attached to mainland Europe. The sea between our islands and Europe is only seperated by a sea thats about 30m deep. Just FYI lol :D
Thanks for posting this. Very impressive demonstration indeed, and I would definitely prefer you to be on the same side as me in a fight. I look forward to seeing more in the future. Well done.
The more I watch about the weapons of soldiers, and the effects it could have (think Deadliest warrior gel torso's as an example) the more I can't imagine how sickening combat was/ is. To shred another human's torso to pieces, or to rip limbs apart time and time again...I can't imagine what it effect it would have had on the guy doing it.
And christ only knows the agony of having it done to you. Highlander, Englishmen or Turk, I'd have been terrified of any warrior.
Excellent stuff. well into this kind of thing. Has Alan been in films? im sure i spotted him in Braveheart? and he did a thing at Murrayfield for the Scotland England match few years ago. how do you get into this kind of work? certainly looks the part dude.
d00ft - Oooh that accent, I just love it! Could you do me a favor? How about just wandering around the town/village you live in and getting some random footage of men. Any men, I'm not particular, just as long as they have that sexy accent! I've got it bad baby and I need a fix!! LOL!
@d00ft hey i saw you do this with two others on a tv program before showed the fighting formation better wi the other two. but good stuff anyway, slainte.
I hand produce old scotts weapons according to history. If you ever have a need for something, let me know. I'd be happy to donate! *raises me pint to ya lad!*
@Kenjutsumasters hi, i'm not sure what you mean by Armour Class but it is proper if that is what u mean. It would be battle worthy. If its to do with the style of the sword I'll have to check with my brother to be sure. He is the expert
@d00ft Hello my friend Armour Class is a forge from Glasgow and there probably the premier sword makers especially for baskethilts in all of scottland with maybe the exeption of a few first class master sword smiths in skye and I think one or 2 in Edinburg....your brother would know of them if hes the expert, it just looks like one of there swords is all thats why I ask
ps: the Basket hilt was invented in Spain. (thats what i read somewhere), then it got popular! next thing ya know, Lochiel is full of dudes with Basket hilt swords!
hes lucky!! .....over here even a 5 inch imported dirk,(made by Scots in Scotland!), cost half a months wages! the basket hilt blade is even more expensive! such things shall remain but a dream in this house over here! i only have one Punjabi sword! probably made from a truck suspension spring! oh well, at least its pretty! very shiny! :)
@kongkabel I'm not sure about which part you are talking about, if its just at the beginning of the vid (after the stills) then its defo just a seperate piece of tartan slung over his shoulder:)There are no set ways to do it, its just what feels comfy and secure.
i would be great if you could make a video of how to get your kilt the way you have it in this video. I`m doing viking and medival historical reenactment and i have stared to wear a great kilt when i`m doing medivla stuff and it would be great to have the coolelst way of doing the kilt in my opinion.
Just ran across your great video. My wife and I have taken on Scottish Personas (both of us have Scottish ancestors) in a local medieval group. I'm really interested in how a targe is made and what it's made of. Keep the videos coming. I find they are helpfull.
@Seitheach67 I make my targes out of plywood but of course that's not authentic.. just easy! I like to use bullhide on the face and suede or thin leather on the back
Good video my friend! Are you still considering the highland wrestling as the topic of a video? I was learning about backhold and Lancashire wrestling. I wondered if they were used as warrior training for Scots. I'd also like to see the basket hilt sword, targe, and dirk in action.
Didn't take too long over editing this one, only a little compilation for anyone who was interested. More videos coming soon, blame Scotlands rather wet weather for the delay!!! Thanks for all subscriptions and comments, they are all much appreciated!
