This video is about the carbon tax. Let's keep to that topic. And NDP supporters, don't fool yourselves that the NDP still have a plan that will reasonably achieve carbon emission reductions.

Organizing a cap and trade system is complicated. There's lots of room for loopholes. The E.U would have done a carbon tax if they could have, but the harmonization was too hard.

After a few years, we'd see the actual emissions response. The tax rate could be adjusted. Meanwhile, the cost is known.

Ok this hypothetical Mrs.Smith? She would burn less oil. Because if she retrofits her house with lets say a geothermal pump, she now get the income tax cut, with out paying the carbon tax. the renovation pays itself off in a few years, she richer, and theres less oil burnt. The NDP is the only party that actually listens to people. Cap and trade is the way to go, help people make their homes more energy efficient. Especially since Ontario Hydro is gouging people through their debt reduction scheme, maybe if they wouldn't have given the CEOs big payouts they wouldn't be in debt. Also the delivery fee is a joke.

You do relise that individuals are responsible for a good chunck of Canadas emisions as well right? If the NDP are going to talk about Canada being responcible shouldn't the people be as well?

I choose to live close to work, ride my bike in the summer, and bus in the winter (even though i oun a car). Yet i get no benifit. Why do i pay as much in tax as someone driving their hummer in from the subburbs? If you're responcible (as an individual or a corp) you dont loose money

You can not afford to not have the tax!! It is money in YOUR pocket. Read the platform! The tax collected comes back to us. We will have new stlyed industries that will sustain jobs into the future. Is every body in this Country so dense they can not see we are being thrown a life preserver by Dion & the Liberals!

Did Layton forget that he was for the pricing of Carbon back in June? They all lie, to get in power, kick them all out and bring in the Canadian Action Party, and other Canadian parties that are serious and not just looking to fill their pocket and those of the companies that get them to positions of power.

I would say anyone who pollutes after 5 years has passed is to shut them down, Canadians can do fine without plastic and so forth. I know Canadians would really help out in anyway they could if the governments really got serious about a real green plan. Cap and trade is just as good as a carbon tax, the NDP's , Liberals, and Conservative have never done anything right, there is far too much corruption!! Also the government could take the tax off the gas to help Canadians, 40% is tax on gas!!

Yes the green plan of all parties are jokes!! Big polluters can pay, and will just keep paying fines as long as they make cash they will not care. A good green plan would be to shut down industry that pollutes within 5 years if they do not come up with solutions to cutting down their pollution. As well as Canada should be investing in H20 technologies,as from what I have seen from individuals like you and me have been using these inventions to power their vehicles with no gas,or very little gas.

The green shift is a joke unless the taxes go to further reduce carbon emissions instead of reducing income tax. I'd still support a liberal vote over a conservative one... but the NDP are really in touch with what needs to be done to solve this dilemma.

When are one of you gonna get the nerve to tell the people you receive so much money revenues from oil that you even banned Hemp and cannabis using nothing but racism to prevent ethanol from being used instead of oil.

I'm tired of people who know nothing about Jack Layton lumping him together with typical politicians like Harper and so on. Please familiarize yourself more with Jack Layton's record, he is very real, and you cannot fault him for the things you just mentioned because he probably holds the same position as you do.
