J'ai dîné un soir avec Evariste et lui ai dit "N'as-tu pas exaéré en chantant :
"Ce que je pense d'Antoine et de Jacques Dutronc
Ca commence par C, ça finit par "on"" ?
Il m'a répondu : "Il fallait comprendre entre les lignes : "C'EST BON !"
Evariste et antoine se sont croisés chez Renoma par la suite et se sont donnés du "cher confrère" en riant.

Un des meilleurs titres de Ronnie à mon avis, très bonne reprise de l'inépuisable "I can only give you everything" des Them. Une réponse au trop turbulent Antoine qui décidément faisait peur à beaucoup de monde...

Oh ! No ! Antoine was not a stupid guy ! He has been a real genius who kicks out the Yé-Yé french brotherhood at this time. Antoine was a beatnick and Ronnie a sort of French Mod. I think that Ronnie was worried to see the big blast that Antoine did with "The Elucubrations". It was so new and different suddenly ! Anyway, I love them both !

There was a blindingly wonderful double CD overview of his career (from hard R' and B' to Pop Psych' later in the sixties). It is on Magic Records. Don't miss it.

I'd only read about Ronnie Bird in Ugly Things (New issue out now!) , but this is a cool clip of "I Can Only Give You Everything". The quality is totally acceptable , too. I like things like this , from T.V. studios , that are'nt always perfect looking , anyway. Sort of surreal.
