ah nice to see a low field team beating a top field team. loved Super Aguri, shame they pulled out because they were really starting to get competitive
@alonso932 Yeah essentially it was due to the rules and regulations for "B-Teams" so Super Aguri were sort of allowed a customer type chassis contract with Honda. It was the same with Red Bull and Toro Rosso. Also showed that the RA106 chassis was clearly a very good one in the end
@e1gr It's called playing it smart. What would we of all thought if he crashed there which is a real possibility? People like you would have called him a retard. LOL
Takuma's Team made a great move during the safety car phase during this race - the took him in for soft tyres and a lap later again for hard ones, so he was all set for the end of the race. You can see that Fernando's tyres were done for (he was still on soft tyres, watch the white line). Takuma made his way through the field on the better tyres by the end of the race, that's the secret to it.
@Lynxtro Not a criticism, but the RA106 was more than decent. Mated to a Ferrari/Mercedes/BMW engine, I think the chassis could have been a genuine title contender. Conversely, Button may not have been Champion with a Honda powered Braun... Maybe.
You can see Sato's speed advantage evaporate the moment he moved out of the slipstream. It happened too fast for him to have simply been running more wing. HP was definitely a factor, or rather a lack thereof.
@foxtrotalphaone I hink it has been proven that the engine doesn't make much difference (by the way, the Honda was one of the best engines in the field, up there with the Merc and Ferrari's). A good example is Midland/Spyker/Force India. Had Toyota (ok), Ferrari (terrible) and now Cosworth (ok again). Ergo, Jens would've been W.C. too, if the team would've remained Honda. Actually, the car was already very quick in the pre season tests when it was still Honda.
@kenjuma Agree entirely with this, plus the Brawn was designed around using the Honda engine, the Mercedes was bolted on at the last minute. If Honda had remained in for 2009 it's very possible they would've been more dominant than Brawn were.
1. Force India use Mercedes engines, not Cosworth, and
2. The Braun never tested preseason as a Honda, or with a Honda engine. They only made it to the final test before the season opener as a Braun and with the Mercedes power plant.
Besides this, it's worth noting that the Mercedes engine is not only the most powerful on the grid, but also the lightest and, I believe, have the lowest center of gravity, whereas the Honda engine, while powerful, was one of the heaviest.
@foxtrotalphaone 1) You're right. But the point I wanted to make still stands. They didn't go any faster until Vijay Mallya pumped some money in it. The engine didn't make any difference.
2) Teams also test in private. The Catalunya pre-season tests were in March, right before the first GP (also in March). Or do you think that in that short time since the take over, Brawn (correct spelling of the name, the guy is British, not German LOL) managed to make a competitive care from scratch?
@kenjuma Thanks, I always make that spelling error. But no, Brawn didn't build the car in that short time. The design was finalized and construction began while the team was still Honda(and on Honda's budget). Infact the team turned to '09 very early and would have been the first to launch the new car, but Honda withdrew in the winter and the car only made the final test, as a Brawn. And no, teams don't test in private, save for a couple of straight line & promotional(w/ GP2 tires) tests.
@foxtrotalphaone Testing can be other than running miles. Think about windtunnelstests and other work done in Brackley and Tochigi. Also, they can test outside of the multi-team tests. And before Catalunya, they were also testing there in November '08 as Honda. And didn't Lotus do a couple of private tests? And Toyota did a buck load of testing on it's own on Paul Ricard. I mean, as long as you don't go over the 15.000 km the FIA is all right with it, as far as I know...
Quem diria... Essa ultrapassagem decidiu o campeonato de 2007, já que Alonso perdeu para Raikkonen por 1 ponto...
In the end of the year, this overtaking decides the championship. Alonso loses the FIA Formula 1 Championship for one point. Raikkonen 108, Alonso 107, Hamilton 107 after Brazilian Grand Prix.
Japanese drivers always seem to be the most fun to watch. Whether they make brilliant overtaking manoeuvres, like Sato or Kobayashi, or providing excitement over at point in the race they'll choose to crash, like Nakajima
As a McLaren and Mercedes fan I was shocked. How is that possible? A japanese driver, who was 7 seconds slower in the year before than men in the top cars, overtakes a championship-contender with a car that's still 2 seconds slower than the McLaren, takes him around the outside and leaves Alonso look like a stupid amateur...
In the end I was happy that Sato had a little success with this small team because I think he deserved it and should still be in F1.
@AubreySimpson Every Japanese driver we have had in the past 10 years (including Nakajima) has either hugely impressed or done himself no favours at all.....Kobayashi is the more consistent version of Taku, although i wish Sato remained in F1 too...
@nitroboost8765 Great point. The only japanese driver I can think of who deserved his seat was Ukyo Katayama (early 90's) but he later suffered from a cancer in his back and lost his edge. Apart from him, Sato and Kobayashi are the only Japanese drivers who ever deserved their seats. Inoue has to be the biggest failure, closely followed by Nakajima.
@Stitch216 To be completely honest, Kobayashi deserves a better seat! So did Sato, despite being rather inconsistent..... But yeah, Taki Inoue and Kazuki Nakajima were among the worst, but the guy who took the crown was Yuji Ide
Right after the incident involving Alonso and Sato, Alonso commented: "Ehhh, the FIA gave Sato eeeh Boost button, i thsink they trrried to stop me, Hamilton payed them and that ehhh cost me eehhh the championship...."
@nitroboost8765 That seems to be the most prominent trend. If something is going wrong, Alonso will moan at the Race Director that Lewis has done something to cause it. What a cock.
@caileyd13 No it didn't. Had he stayed ahead he would've gotten one more point to tie with Kimi. But Kimi had 6 wins and Alonso 4, so Kimi still wins. You can never attribute a championship win or loss to a single race really.
@HollywoodSheen Actually FIA's nonsensical decision during the Hungarian GP cost him the championship. Or his accident @ Fuji, if we talk about his own mistakes
@pureguy1 They both have, individually! Did u see Kobayashi' s pass on alonso in Valencia 2010? It reminded me of good old Taku, as he drifted his way past Alonso and Buemi on the final lap...........
This is why alonso will always be a loser and will never ever be compared to michael "sexy" schumacher.
alonso is not a good looking man either, his eyebrows are too big and his penis is too small, whereas Mighty Michael is a horse in trouser department. heheheh lol excellent
@SeanVaIen I support vettel, first of all. Alonso is a good driver, and the reason why sato could pass him was his breaks. Alonso's brakes were almost finished. IT was a technical issue and it can happen to any f1 pilot .
I dont like Alonso as much as in his early Renault days but he is one of the world class best. But this video shows why its so sad that Sato is not in F1. Sato was good. He was so much fun to watch and made F1 so much better. Kind of like Kobiyashi is about to do. I would have loved to have seen both Kobiyashi and Sato driving for Toyota or Honda.
@Pompyroftw - Alonso had braking problems all race, but for some extraordinary reason people fail to acknowledge that...
Brilliant drive by Sato - I'm not knocking him in any way - but you cannot honestly tell me that this performance was subject to Alonso's driving... It wasn't...
@FormulaOneFan4Eva well sato looked after his brakes better then didnt he? lewis wouldnt let sato make a fool outta him like that brake problems or not!
alonso had brake problems all race! it wasn't his fault! he had that problem from the get-go... the fact he didn't have a failure or an accident is quite commendable...
but why do i bother, every single time you reply to one of my comments, you spew complete nonsense...
"lewis wouldn't let sato make a fool outta him like that brake problems or not!" how do you know that? seems to me, you have a slight case of james allen syndrome...
my age has nothing to do with anything and i can guarantee i'm more intelligent and have a better F1 insight than you...
and no, acknowledging that alonso had faulty brakes doesn't mean i have a boner for him, but you simply assuming hamilton would've performed much better under the same circumstances suggests the contrary for you...
@FormulaOneFan4Eva your full of shit if you think your intelligent at all and your blind if you think you know more about the sport than me! every comment you leave is so bad and biased towards "aussie" mark webber & alonso, i just laugh everytime! seriously everytime! and your think you know more than me? maybe about writing a 1000 word essay for school but not f1!
hehe, it's funny because i did a 3000 word document on ayrton senna for physical education, i got an A too...
and once again, i'm not being biased towards alonso - i am a big fan however - because his brakes WERE failing...
the problem isn't me being biased towards anybody... i believe you labelled alonso something along the lines of "stupid, spanish cunt" on craigsimons93's video... so considering that, you're the biased one...
@flipsidedogchop first of all congrats on your A for english! These days all the big oil and mining companys are looking for year 11 english reports!
second my comments on alonso are all said somewhat tongue in cheek, but your so sensitive......i agree alonso's good, very good but in my UNpaid opinion he is a cnt!
@Pompyroftw Actually if you bothered to watch the whole race properly, you would know Alonso damaged the underside of his car at the first turn, and his tyres were completely inferior to Sato's aswell. Nevertheless it was still a very entertaining move.
Well Alonso is a great driver, one of the best in F1 I reckon, 2 time world champion, and also in the 07 season he only missed out by 1 point, so for a Super Aguri to overtake him, it wasn't bad!
OMG!! Alonso is very bad driver!!!

super aguri had a okay car in 2007, as it was based off the decent honda RA106
Lynxtro 1 year ago

@kenjuma Two things:

Mediocre driver??? Fernando Alonso is one of the best drivers. Ahora que está en Ferrari ya verás como lsus 2 campeonatos se le quedan cortos.
AUPA ALONSO!

This video shows Alonso is a very mediocre driver. Allowing yourself to get overtaken like that by a driver in a inferior car is just pathetic!
Pompyroftw 2 years ago 15
@Pompyroftw I don't think it was so much that, I think he just wanted to stay the hell out of the way of the legendary Sato :p
SATO!
Notirez 2 years ago 5
Sato had tyres to race, Alonso's rubber was completely destroyed at the moment.
DePalmez 2 years ago
@Pompyroftw I highly agree- Sato was much more exciting to watch and Alonso is utter crap

FormulaOneFan4Eva 1 year ago
@FormulaOneFan4Eva well sato looked after his brakes better then didnt he? lewis wouldnt let sato make a fool outta him like that brake problems or not!
flipsidedogchop 1 year ago
alonso had brake problems all race! it wasn't his fault! he had that problem from the get-go... the fact he didn't have a failure or an accident is quite commendable...
but why do i bother, every single time you reply to one of my comments, you spew complete nonsense...
"lewis wouldn't let sato make a fool outta him like that brake problems or not!" how do you know that? seems to me, you have a slight case of james allen syndrome...
FormulaOneFan4Eva 1 year ago
@FormulaOneFan4Eva your comments are of someone aged 16.....months......james allen syndrome? no thats just my unpaid opinion.
almost seems like you have "boner for alonso syndrome"...... in my unpaid opinion!
flipsidedogchop 1 year ago
my age has nothing to do with anything and i can guarantee i'm more intelligent and have a better F1 insight than you...
and no, acknowledging that alonso had faulty brakes doesn't mean i have a boner for him, but you simply assuming hamilton would've performed much better under the same circumstances suggests the contrary for you...
FormulaOneFan4Eva 1 year ago
@FormulaOneFan4Eva your full of shit if you think your intelligent at all and your blind if you think you know more about the sport than me! every comment you leave is so bad and biased towards "aussie" mark webber & alonso, i just laugh everytime! seriously everytime! and your think you know more than me? maybe about writing a 1000 word essay for school but not f1!
flipsidedogchop 1 year ago
hehe, it's funny because i did a 3000 word document on ayrton senna for physical education, i got an A too...
and once again, i'm not being biased towards alonso - i am a big fan however - because his brakes WERE failing...
the problem isn't me being biased towards anybody... i believe you labelled alonso something along the lines of "stupid, spanish cunt" on craigsimons93's video... so considering that, you're the biased one...
FormulaOneFan4Eva 1 year ago
@flipsidedogchop first of all congrats on your A for english! These days all the big oil and mining companys are looking for year 11 english reports!
second my comments on alonso are all said somewhat tongue in cheek, but your so sensitive......i agree alonso's good, very good but in my UNpaid opinion he is a cnt!
flipsidedogchop 1 year ago
It's OK to dislike Alonso...I myself find him arrogant!
But can you fanboys AND anti-fanboys just for a moment please, please be serious and stop writing bullshit!?
I'm so glad Im grown up and NOT one of you!...cause YEP...a 39 sec video clip is prove that he simply should have his license taken away!
Find the good arguments instead, and experience the pleasure of being taken seriously!

@Pompyroftw
And this response shows how much of an idiot you are.
ImEastonianBitch 1 year ago
@Pompyroftw Actually if you bothered to watch the whole race properly, you would know Alonso damaged the underside of his car at the first turn, and his tyres were completely inferior to Sato's aswell. Nevertheless it was still a very entertaining move.

yh but its alonso so who cares
oniontom1324 2 years ago 6
Well Alonso is a great driver, one of the best in F1 I reckon, 2 time world champion, and also in the 07 season he only missed out by 1 point, so for a Super Aguri to overtake him, it wasn't bad!
OllieRetroSound 2 years ago
yh i will agree that alonso is one of the best drivers in f1, but after what he did to mclaren i dont respect him as much as i did
