This is an amaizing oppertunity especially for those who have talent but cannot afford to compete in motorsport! This is one expensive sport in get involved in, so programmes like this search for talent that wouldn't normally be seen..
probably the best game of the century this game is going to sell every other game on this world. The graphics are great the cars are great, the races are great and there is online gaming what else do you want this is for all of you COD addicts just distroy your game and buy this instead it is healthier and much better at least it doesn't look like a cartton.
i dont want to sound like i whiner, but this really should be a global thing, the USA gets all the perks, not everyone lives there you know.
i am a massive GT fan , preordered GT5 the day i picked up PS3 on launch day. im in the top 140 times with every car in GT5P. im not saying i would win this, im not THAT good. but i would stand a large chance of picking up some goodies like the wheel etc. im a bit butt hurt i cant participate because im not from the USA :(
your a little kid that trolls around. yes i own a ps3 but please dont be trolling around the internet saying We have the best! your just progressing the console war!
This seems nice and all, but unless GT5 is like a real driving simulation that is similar to the simulations given to real race car drivers, I don't think its a good idea to do this, because acquiring the skills needed to be a pro takes many years, so unless the person who is picked has a natural talent for driving then it would be okay, not only that you also need an incredible amount of physical endurance, sitting on a couch playing online all day won't help, you're better off in a go-kart.
This could not be further from the truth. Past GT academy contestants were excellent in the cars from the get go.
I have used GT to train drivers for real life high performance driving and it works very very well.
If you are really really good at driving in GT, meaning you are one of the top online players in the world, you will be good in a real car. It has been shown over and over.
@z06funsp I am not trying to sound rude in any way but could you give me hard evidence of this, statistics of some sort, and nascar doesn't count for this one although they did include nascars in this release, but I would like to have something more along the lines of touring, and the like, basically european based racing style. If and only if you can show me proof will I believe you, I will research myself for about a week as well.
i would substantiate Z06funsp's claim. im a member of the local MX-5 drivers auto sport club (yeah go have a giggle, its not a manly car i know, but its great fun for autokhanas and is a good daily drive too ^_^)
point being, there is a guy in the club who learned to drive in GT5P. doesn't have a real license and cant drive on roads to save his life, but he is as good as most of us on the track and much better than most experienced drivers who have just started motor sport.
@surruk Well first I would never laugh at anyone who shows true interest in racing, I myself have had the opportunity to participate in Nurburgring mini public races against semi good to outstanding racers(motorbikes also), but my opinion comes from the fact that these people are going professional, and I think it's quite distasteful to do that, racing in a club is fine because its friendly competition, but I think its disrespectful to the seasoned racers who put in hard time for real racing.
@surruk Oh and also the reason as to why GT5 helps those people become satisfactory racers is because it introduces them to the basics of racing, however it will never really replace the true experience you gain from actually getting in a car and racing, and just to clarify, I do like GT all the series, but it's not for teaching people how to become professional racers, GT acts like an instruction booklet to racing, it gives you the information you need but not the skills you have to develop
of course. GT isnt a perfect representation of racing, so playing it isnt going to make you a F1 super star over night, but like you said it allows them to practice basic and fundamental skills at any time in total safety. but there is no substitute for the real thing. think of GT academy as a screening program to find people who show potential, thats why the top 8 (or 16?) and thrown into real cars. to see who has the actual skills.
@surruk I love how idiot people like you just keep saying it's not like real thing when you haven't even drive real car before or racing or play the game. The car handling in the game is real but not the crash. And i see alot of people who have race the real car said its just like the real thing but without g force and such. I have drived the real car and i can feel the handling similarity, and for you your just a suck ass no life who just sit in front of computer all day.
um dude..... i think you should be reading my comments again. because we are making pretty much the same point. that GT5 is a dam good simulator and a good way to screen candidates for such a show.
also, if you had read all my comments you would know that i race a lightly modified MX-5 twice a month and that in GT5P i am in the top 140 with every car on both the suzuka short circuit and Eiger Nordwand. Now stop trolling 7 month old posts.
@theonlykisboi From what i read about your comment, i clearly know that all you said are by guessing and you guess it all wrong.
GT5 really does help you develope real skill that you will use in real racing. The game required you to concentrate which is what real race is all about. It also has skidding which is what real car do. Your comment will make more sense if you talking about the first GT and Forza. Just ask the GT Academy finalist they all said it's like in the game but with G-force.
@laos85 None of what I said is guessing. I have driven a real race car and I have played this game the experiences are totally different while this may help you be a little better than a novice a racer who has not had any racing experience simulation or real life it doesn't change the fact that being in a real car is where the real practice takes place. The feedback you get from a real car is very different than that of a simulation. Btw why are you even commenting on something so old?
