@LikeTheProphet Actually, I remember reading a fan letter in the old days of 2000AD, asking how Slaine's name should be pronounced. I seem to recall the official answer was "say it the way it's spelled", though they may have acknowledged that this wasn't the proper Gaelic pronounciation.

I say just go with the pronounciation you're comfortable with. I grew up pronouncing "Niamh" as "Nie-am". I now know it should be pronounced "Neve", but she'll always be "Nie-am" to me. :)

This was my ALL time favorite story series in 2000AD. Dear God of all the sh## that comes out of Hollywood these days, why couldn't they make this into a true blockbuster? Too scared they'll upset someone no doubt. I agree too, if this is 'just' a fan film, give THEM the money to make it into a full film. At least it would be done right & not watered down.

Totally but remember Slaine is a real, not romantic or philisophical character but an actual historical Irish Chieftain and his name has been given to the place we call Slane today in Co.Meath. He is buried in a mound nearby

Love it, perfect choice in scenes imo, covers the key themes, captures the mood, and bloody accurate to the Simon Bisley artwork from the graphic novels! Even the spanish language adds something to it, very fiery and passionate, lots of mood. If anyone disagrees, Kiss my Axe!

@gommechops - Well the only dissagreement I could make is that Slaine is actually based upon a real person who was considered to be the first Ard Ri (High King) of Ireland and hence - I suppose I would prefer if the language used was of an ancien Irish dialect - but I guess thats just my preference .... These sources are still quite important to a lot of Irish people even today and possibly considered a little sacred - as silly as that may sound to others

It is funny how many peope think most movies would sound better in English. If there is one language appropriate for this movie, it is Irish. It's like saying that a movie about Hitler would be better in English than in German, or a movie about Alexander the Great would be better in English than in Greek, Oh wait, they did the last one and we all saw how that went.

Great stuff...very brave to give birth to the idea, trick is getting away from the lord of the rings feel..will be really tricky to this right..I'm here in Connemara Ireland, you'd need to film it in a few different locations round Europe and i reckon it can be done on a shoe string budget, again man...great stuff.
