@Fgonpa ZX was cushier, they tamed the horsepower down, softened the suspension and did subtle design changes. Added a lot of 'luxury' features that weighed the poor thing down. ZX did come with a Turbo though in 1981

@sodadew '79 got 21 city, 27 highway. I can't imagine that the 81 had much different. Unless it's a turbo. Then it'd probably be less.

Nice video. I have a red 77 Z 5 sp with black interior. Had it 32 yrs. GREAT true sports car. It gets lots of smiles and compliments. Your cars exhaust note indicate a possible manifold warp. They all did sooner or later. Mine has a slight leak and a new stock manifold isn't available. I've got a line on a nice header and free flow exhaust kit that won't be loud until I jump on it.

There's no fun, you will spent less money, and you will have US muscle car with muscle engine. 240Z is Jap car and swaps should stay in family. I hate ridiculous swaps. There's many great Nissan engine even 4cyls turbo, 6-cyls, and even great V8's. And they all you can find for low money used. Overall I'm from EU, and I found ridiculous cheap 30,000 mile Jap engines in US shops.

When a classic import drives by i find it to be much more special than if an american car drives by because they aren't as unique. I like cornering more than straight line drags, this z car has independent suspension and disk brakes. at the time most muscles had leaf springs and drum brakes. i find that All new cars lack the passion old cars have (old comment wasn't supposed to be a jab)

Nice car. I have a friend that had 2 (One for parts) and he loved it. He was planning to put a V-8 in it, but never did. It ended up in his 9 second firebird. But we often bench race about what the Z would run with the engine that is in the firebird now.

@JaSt321 The 280Z did not have power steering, so trying to turn the wheel at a standstill is very difficult and may damage the steering components. (Try steering your car without starting it and you'll feel what it is like without power steering.)
