  • this song is sooooo godly

  • One thing that has always perplexed me is that people that don't agree with Christian messages in Metal band's lyrics; yet do they agree with the lyrics of secular Metal lyrics? Seriously? Do they sit there and go, "Right on!" about Cannibal Corpse's lyrical portrayals of rape, cannibalism, murder, etc? Do they listen to Nile and immediately bow to a statue of Anubis? Hell- people that listen to GNR sing "Mr. Brownstone" as if drugs were coffee...and they chastise bands for lyrics about God...

  • @PriestofGethsemane

    Suspension of disbelief, brother.

I don't care in the least about Christianity, I think it's a toxin that has poisoned humanity's potential for far too long, however, I digress.

Honestly, when I listen to music, I listen for melodies, music goes beyond instruments and messages. I could be listening to Japanese Visual Kei Rock and not understand a word,, but the melodies cut through all of that and I feel it.

When I listen to extol, I hear great music.

  • @RainWiLLIDie Yep. I love the 3 classic Ulver albums (Bergtatt, Kveldssanger, and Nattens Madrigal) - and they are in Norwegian.I don't understand a word of it (though I have read the translations.) I've been a music fan since birth, imagining scenarios and landscapes with classical music, worked my way up to Metal, Alt, Prog....etc. Melody, emotion, conviction; these are the things that draw me in.

  • @RainWiLLIDie Oh, and about your views on Christianity- I'm a follower of Christ. But the majority of the organizations that "represent" Him are (pardon my vulgarity) as good as the refuse that comes from their back ends. They shit all over what their professed Lord preached. They turn people away with their hypocrisy. So, your words do not offend me in the least.

    Rock on, bro.

  • This video reminds me of Silent Hill for some reason...

  • awesome

  • Such a good band, slow or fast all the songs gives me inspiration!

  • i wish they had more videos T_T

  • EXTOL

  • which is sad because gloriana is great

  • this song fucking blows. hard.

  • I have a burned cd from these folks and it don't sound anything like this shit.....

  • Awesome song and video. So bad Extol has stopped their works...

    They rock hard!!! \m/

  • Er Christer fortsatt med i Extol?

    Hilsen tidligere barn i B.A.B.

  • The video may represent the bands goal to create more Christians through leading by example. The song is about a woman.

  • Never heard these guys before, they Praise God and Rock hard and it sounds awesome :)

  • i just wanted to come back and say this is shit. christian music focuses too much on "giving praise to their god" that they cant make good music. shit stinks

  • @odinthor718 Aw Come on man, at least this is good u kno I luv it! xD!

  • @odinthor718 So, their personal beliefs and choice of lyrical content automatically makes the music stink? By that then, 90% of power metal sucks because all they sing about is vikings, fairies, and dancing through the woods.

Generalizations suck. Good music is good music regardless of the lyrical content or the bands personal beliefs and life.

  • @Nathrakh2271 exactly

  • @odinthor718 And ur youtube nickname is OdinThor... Hmm, guess who gives praise to "gods"

  • Dang this song rocks!

  • Awesome video even though it had nothing to do with the song

  • Simply stunning. The guitar riffs are dissonant, yet beautifully melodic. The vocals are strong yet flow and mesh quite well with the music. This is everything modern metal should be, yet isn't.

  • You can enjoy is song in belief or disbelief. But believe me... Enjoying it in belief opens it up to a whole new plane of enjoyment... Literally...

  • I thought Extol was death metal? Did they change thier style somewhere?

  • @numbskull1974 good question, here's the answer

Extol is tech death metal and good musicians love challenges and innovation

Extol consists of only good musicians, which means Extol loves innovation and challenges

Innovation, musically, can be described as pushing sound into new dimensions (intergernre crossing)

and pushing the boundries of expressing yourself sonically

    that's exactly what Extol did

love both old and new Extol: brutal and emotional true

  • @antoniostarlizos

    You are a champion

  • who cares if ur a christian or a non christian..if you enjoy a good metal band thats what its all about...people make music to be herd and have other people enjoy the amazing sounds that they can bring to the table...so enough with debate..

  • @cheifeatalottapuss

im almost certain that this isnt metal

  • this is so my favorite song better than any song ive heard in my life! Love the lyrics!

    ($_$)

  • @someweirdwigger im utterly obsessed with them, i dont think you understand haha.

and i think protest he hero is alright, but i cant get over the kind of whiney sound. The faceless on the other hand....

  • @someweirdwigger good call with recommending BTBAM, i remember when i first started listening to them...i couldnt keep up with anything...but i loved it 0.0

  • @someweirdwigger it still is boring melodicly, it feels so predictable... listening to btbam for melodies i amazing though

  • @someweirdwigger dude, breakdowns are gay. you just probed my point

  • @someweirdwigger but becoming the archetype is boring. and i have nothing against christian bands, but the lyrics are pretty fucking gay.

  • They are rock not metal. FACT

  • earlier albums are not rock

  • I used to think that Extol turned to worse music with this album, but after listening to it several times it became one of the most special albums I ve ever heard... Seriously ... this album is timeless... Once you really UNDERSTAND this album and let it flow through your ears it reaches your heart in a very special way...

  • @navas015 Kudos =0)

  • I personally don't care if a band is religious or not. I just care about the sound they produce. As long as they not door-to-door Bible sellers and Christian converters, I have no problem with which God they choose to believe in.

  • Wow! A Norweigan Christian metal band? Wonder what Varg Vikernes would think about this. Great band

  • burial was a good album but wow they really turned to shit, it stinks.

  • Osti que cé fif!!!

  • @salutsoleil ben jtrouve pas... pi pourtant j'écoute du gros death technique aussi

  • Is this their only 1 official video?! If not please sent me a link to other vids!

  • David, great drummer!!!!

  • @estebandido777 David are drumming with Doctor Midnight and The Mercy Cult, a band with member from Marlyn Manson, Turbonegro and Satyricon

  • cont'd: And really, which of us can say that our own beauty is unmarred? We are loved when we should not be. And that is the gift of grace.

  • This video took a LONG time for me to understand at all. I couldn't see why these almost grotesque, chilling images were paired with lyrics of SUCH beauty and inspiration. But I really should have known all along: it's compassion for those who are suffering, those who are imprisoned and those whose beauty has been sealed away from everyone but God, that this video is about. It is about learning to see with the Spirit what human eyes do not see, and bringing love to suffering hearts.

  • @someweirdwigger - Don't take part in this, man, I beg you. It's so tired and pointless. No one needs to be ripping on what music you listen to. Just ignore them and forgive them. Just show love by giving the conversation no weight. That's what I started doing a long time ago. Just a spam fest that leads no where. Peace man, Extol rocks!

  • muito bom! adoro essa banda!

  • awesome

  • I love metal with finess. Meshuggah, Gojira, SYL among some favorites. This fits in perfectly. Amazing song from a good album from a really good band. Come visit Sweden soon ;)

  • Wow, this one sucks. Guess I still be listening to their old stuff

  • @literzoster Burial ftw

  • extol sucks now! i LOVED the albums "burial" and "mesmerized"!! Wish they still had the same black metal sound...

  • @someweirdwigger

I'm with you, buddy. I recently discovered Extol and am already a big fan of BTA. As Petra said it, God gave Rock and Roll to you! Rock on!

  • Pathetic garbage. I like Christian metal but have always avoided these kids.

  • @Endnuenfyr this proves you have to be 16 years old

  • @imaginedatyo Extol has always been pretentious overrated garbage.

  • @Endnuenfyr I disagree. Burial, Undeceived and Paralysis still remain some of my favorite metal albums of all time, even after probably 10 years.

  • @Endnuenfyr then why are you on this page?

  • @MrMetalhead61 To say what needs to be said.

  • @Endnuenfyr not really

  • Why is this song not on itunes? I would buy it in a heartbeat.

  • Everyone should check out Theocracy as well. They aren't well known, but they are really awesome.

  • love love love this song.......

  • For some reason I see the lead singer and think elf.... Totally looks like he came out of The Lord of the Rings.

  • damn, i liked the old sound better. idk what to call this. just not the same

  • wow this sucks..... christian metal?

    wtf how gay

  • @Jamopiepiepie

Sucks indeed. I guess As I Lay Dying is the only decent C.M. band.

  • @FuckThemPigeons There are way better Christian metal bands.

Pretty much half of the metal bands are Christian anyways.

You'd be surprised how many are Christian.

  • @TaylorAndersonnn i wouldn't say half as much. But there are a lot

  • @TaylorAndersonnn true bro, but sadly there are few name sake 1s, somtyms the fans themselves turn the band into a name sake Christian band, with nothin Christian bout it,

but the others rule for Jesus. plz ask me if any1 really is interested in some real deals!

  • @FREAKRASH I just wanted to add that I am not a bro. ;] I am a girl. But it doesn't really matter! I get this a lot.

  • @FuckThemPigeons only these guy's new stuff is wierd, their old stuff wasn't bad, and august burns red is better than AILD

  • @Jamopiepiepie Try Gorgoroth, true norwegian gay metal

  • im not one for "holy music"

    this is pretty cool

  • I get it! by reaching out to one person, you inadvertently reach out to many others.

  • the singer looks like tarantino

    lol

  • @666immurement i thought i was the only one who thought that

  • Cool !!!!!

  • They are back together as a band called Mantric. They just released an album a few months ago.

  • Whaaaaaaaa...

  • Yep, not the Extol I knew and loved. Not at all.

  • What the heck is this music video about though? Love the lyrics, but the content of the video.... O.o

  • @j3sskady It's just an artistic expression of how we walk amongst drones who haven't accepted the message of Christ. Really, a lot of churches have it all wrong. They promote doctrine and fight with each other over when to baptize, worship with music or not, and all the mostly irrelevant stuff that has little to do with salvation. All Christ wants is for us to accept & walk with Him!

  • almost like all the christain bands they go too soft i respect them for there meaning but when i hear christain they mostly think of this not like impending doom or with blood comes cleansing

  • @screamoboy1212

Have you heard Extol's other albums?

  • @BoyOfLol i heard some of there heveyer stuf like burial and some other songs i forgot

  • just have to say it again: those of you who liked this album, have to check out Mantric, consisting of the same songwriters as on Extol´s last album...

  • This excellent christian metal band was one of a kind, would be nice to see them return.

  • what the fuck is this bullshit dude.

  • I don't care about their lyrics, i'm an agnostic but, this is actually a very very good band, with really fresh riffs and atmospheres, and with some progressiveness and technical shit in their music, i like that.

  • The vocalist looks like the vocalist from Drama F.A. with no curly / long hair... hahaha check out some Drama F.A. videos...

  • These guys are geniuses and very gifted musicians! All you haters really suck...

  • gracias a Dios x todos akellos ke c dedikan a llebar su poderosa palabra y asi poder ganar mas almas para Cristo !!! Dios t bendiga .... EXTOL !!!!!!!! yeah !!!!!

  • Sooo awesome !!!

Metal is Metal and Religion is Religion !

Great Musicians, great Music, you dont like?, ok than leave this Page...

  • @HBWizzard I know what you are saying.

It's not going to happen, I just wish that people would stop saying that God is religion when He isn't.

    This clearly isn't anything religious,

this song is God talking to us in a personal way.

  • @TaylorAndersonnn Truth!

  • @HBWizzard Metal is a belief system,built upon satan...U lied again devil...

  • pretty good for a bible humping band :\ really good actually

  • Comment removed

  • Don't care if it's christian, satanic, buddhist or whatever - it's great shit ;o

  • oh and this song sucks

  • @someweirdwigger, christian people threatened heavy metal music when it first started and now they just realised its a "hip" new way to fucking brainwash the youth that listen to that metal. True metal has always been about rebelion and its main purpose was to fight off and rebel against religon, as its all a bunch of bullshit.

p.s. bands like becoming the archetype can go fuck themselves. listen to a true metal band like black sabbath or megadeth. moron.

  • Ha, megadeth. Fuckin garbage, dave mustaine is a fairy fuck and doesnt know the first thing about metal. he makes trendy fuckin pop trash.

  • and another thing, there have been plenty of fucking great Christian metal bands. if you knew anyfucking thing about metal, you'd know that, hell Tom Araya from Slayer is an admitted catholic. true metal has always been about MUSIC! your fucking blind if you cant see that.

  • Comment removed

  • @becky1455 I think youre a bit confused The people who "threatened" heavy metal are the same people who probably grew up in 40s and have no tolerance to anything louder than Elvis or Chuck Berry (who are great musicians btw) Its not those Christians that are trying to be "hip" as you put it and find a new way to market their message, but rather a new generation making music about what's important to them and doing it in a way that they love Its metalheads like you that give the genre a bad name.

  • @becky1455 Wow, you're ridiculous, lol.

  • @becky1455 fuck you bud. i'm Christian and i'll listen to whatever i want. Although, it's not like your opinion matters anyway.

    And Megadeath is thrash. Moron.

  • @stkuehne You think saying your a Christian and then swearing at him is gonna make him wanna be one of us someday? Screw that dude

  • @BoyOfLol Hey brother, the way you finished off your sentence isn't any better. We gotta stay positive and hope for them to find the light.

  • @andrewmassacre1

Hmm oh, sorry.. I've never though screw was really a bad word..

  • @BoyOfLol Screw isn't. It was just the phrase but then again maybe its not as bad as I thought. My bad man.

  • Lol it's all good ^^... I still probably shouldn't have said it :p

  • @someweirdwigger, yeah actually it does. if you want to be a heavy metal band don't go talking bout religious shit and stick to your church tunes

  • ew their christian

  • awosome band makes my heart humble

  • is that a roadside monument (RM) sticker on the guitar at 2:17

  • @quin108 hey i agree fully i can't stand prickler dicks like that. :P Amen keep following god...

  • I agree with navas--this is a very sophisticated album and I'd love to see more from them along these lines. So beautiful, technically, and spiritually exquisite. :-)

  • i know the lead singer haha

  • GREEEAT. Very unique. i can recommend every album!

  • This is a good song...very unique in my books! =]

  • awesome band...hope they release something new !

  • The most underrated album ever....... IMO this album is a masterpiece. They changed their sound to create a progressive masterpiece..... I miss them.....Hope some day Extol give us a new album........IMO one of the best Metal bands ever.

  • maybe not but its called white metal all the same

  • YOU are the official video????? not

  • I love them

  • AWESOME GROUP! THEIR MUSIC IS LASTING TO BE NEW ALL OVER AGAIN AND VERY MELODICLY COOL. I'm a russian, i like impending doom, a plea for purging, under oath, living sacrifice, famine, as i lay dying. Russian christian rock is melodical, but too light for me. Extol , norvegian group, kind of combined "russian" rock with american one to me. Wona buy their another CD. Extol ROCKS!

  • vocalists face... and this whole band... well i guess the world would be a better place without em, TURD

  • Best Album! Musically and lyrically

  • This might sound like a stupid question but, what makes a band "Christian"? Most of the songs I've heard (which is kinda limited since i listen mostly to thrash and regular death metal) don't have anything to do with Jesus, God or religion for that matter, unless I'm missing some very deep meaning to a song...

  • The band members are Christian apparently. On certain songs from earlier albums, there were definitely Christian references, but not used in a preachy kind of way. Don't let any tags fool you for this band. Their album Undeceived is a must listen if you like death metal defying conventions.

  • Yeah this is a Christian metal band... They're friggin' cool :D

  • @ZeroVirusEXE Well the lyrics from this song from a Christian perspective is like God talking to any person on Earth. The lyrics "I'll never leave you..." are taken from the verse in the Bible when God says"I will never leave you or forsake you."

  • extols lyrics are very christian, though they are not preachy!

  • im not christian, im actually athiest, but i gotta say, extol is really fucking badass. i just wish they made more music like this! i have all their albums and this is the softest song. btw theyre black metal but dont give themselves the label "christian black metal".

  • Not really. Even their first album wasn't black metal. It had influence though definitely. I think the only thing someone can say for certain is that they are a metal band. They're so varied though that it's hard to pin them down to any one sub-style.

  • they aren't black metal they're white metal, same thing just christian

  • That's nonsense. No such genre exists. It's just something elitists made up to keep away the religious bands away from their precious genre. And even if "white metal" was a legit genre, you'd still be wrong because Extol only had influence from black metal. They don't fit into one genre. Trust me.

  • @InFlames231 oh yeah, you obviously don't know much about metal! es extol was influenced by death metal, but listen to their lyrics, you can't deny their christianity!! just listen to their song christianity misunderstood, or vicios intent! they are a legit christian white metal band

  • I'm not arguing about their religious beliefs or lyrics. I'm talking about the term "white metal". It's just a made up genre that the media uses to attempt to distinguish it from an already established genre of music, which is black metal. And yes, I read the Wiki on Christian Metal and I don't really agree with the application of the term still. So, call it what you will.

  • Norwegian death?

  • Don´t know what to call this...

  • so freak.... i like this!!!!!!!

  • i love this band and i love this video.

  • listen to their song Ember. You won't believe it's the same band at all.

  • Great song!Great band! I hope that they will resurrect as bigger and stronger! Christian metal is good message,so I don´t like that someone makes limit of metal like it is just some pagan or satanic or evil music! Faith gives you strength, wings to fly and makes life more reasonable! We must be united, not appart! Greetings! You may not believe in God, but He always believes in you! God bless you all!

  • @theologian777

    Awesome comment my friend!

  • Some people should stop whining about that this isn't as br00tal as their past albums. Their music is progressive, progressive music is known for changing its sound.

Not bashing on the older albums though, Burial, Undeceived, Synergy, Blueprint Dives, I love 'em all. : )

It's a sad thing they broke up though.. hope they will make a comeback someday!

  • @anesthetize7 They are back together as a band called Mantric. They just released an album a few months ago.

  • @anesthetize7

It's not so much about being less brutal for me, it's just such a departure from what I am used to hearing from them. I just think they did better in their former style than this. This just doesn't sound "right" for them to me, but i'm not bashing it.

  • isnt it good that some ppl belive in something?

  • No.

  • why?

  • alright people... extol is freakin' sweet... well they were... but metal is metal... why have an argument of whether since it's christian music call it "white" or "light" or "bright" it's freaking METAL!!! and that's all we need to know!!! that's the deal and i'm done talking about it from now on! :-)

  • Since their a christian band, It's called Unblack metal. js

  • To make is simpler, its white metal for black metal, life metal for death metal, and bright metal for dark metal. because Jesus is the life and light and light is white.
