  • i like da horse in 11;48

  • @FamilyFun999 Tis a bonnie one!

  • Brings back old memories of when my family and I traveled with these guys to appleby in 2008 and 2006 those were the trips documented in Gypsey Horses The travelers way. I am in several pictures in it by the way this is Thomas Bartko.

  • @DAY3956 I'm pleased that you enjoyed it Thomas, i'd like to hit the road this year & travel to Appleby the correct way...

  • Wonderful movie.... thank you for sharing the Gypsy "horse culture" to someone here in California! Really enjoyed it!

  • @szhooper Pleased that you are pleased!

  • :) I've been trying to get to Appleby for almost a decade (hitching lifts off friends) and finally a lovely chap is going to teach me to drive horse-drawns so i can get there! :D

  • @Redtinmug I might be joining you!

  • @DurhamTelly lolz soz i will try put one on are u a kid or an adalt and i take it ur a traveller ? x

  • @surrealfarm P.S. We just got a new video camera so I should be adding new videos soon to my channel! Yeah! :o)

  • @surrealfarm That's amazing! (not flinching at backfire) The most bombproof horse I've ever owned was a big very loudly colored leopard spotted Appaloosa x TB (he was 16.1hh) but even he would jump sideways at some things from time to time. It was usually something like a bird and not a large truck with a tarp laying over the back of it. <:o\ Not flinching at backfire is truly amazing. I am into harness now but have not gotten my ponies going yet. I plan to do so this coming spring/summer.

  • P.S.S. This video is really excellent. They should air it on Austar and call *it* My Big Fat Gypsy Horse! Thanks for posting it. :o)

  • P.S. I think they should do a show called "My Big Fat Gypsy Horses" because the main reason I watched the show (Big Fat Gypsy Wedding) was in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the horses. :o)

They showed too much wedding and not enough HORSES!

  • G'day, I watched a few episodes of "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding" on Austar (pay TV in Oz) and saw the horses resting on the side of the freeway. In the film I could not see the tethers and thought that the horses were just loose on the side of the freeway! <:-O In your video I can clearly see that they are tethered. Thank God! I wondered how nervous the Travelers where with driving the horses in freeway traffic. They look very comfortable doing it. Gypsy Cobs must be very calm horses!

  • @pickupcorn Hi I am pleased that you enjoyed the video, spread the word if you can, cobs are bomb proof !

  • @DurhamTelly I wish I owned one! If horses were wishes... I am not horseless however as I own 4 ponies of various types. I have one purebred Shetland pony mare, 1 Palouse pony stallion (he's the one in my video) and two miniature horses. We also have my husband's retired endurance horse here with us. He is Arabian x QH and is now 26 years old and still going strong. :o)

  • @pickupcorn I have 2 of these Gypsy Vanners. They're incredibly calm and sensible horses. I was driving one a couple of days ago and a truck passing us at 60 MPH backfired. My 4 year old colt didn't flinch!!!

  • @surrealfarm Vanners Cobs are Bomb Proof & docile, some people may disagree?

  • @DurhamTelly I fell in love with these horses when I saw the first ones imported into the US. I have been around horses for 53 years and have never seen any breed as calm and sensible. I am a true believer now. If anybody questions their stability and sweetness of temperament, they need to get to know some.

  • @surrealfarm Any horse than can carry a rider, two kettle drums and work in a military band has to be special. I am surrounded by them, if a field has two horses in a least one of them is a Vanner or Cob. I'm not a horseman at all but would trust a Cob even before a Shetland Pony! I have my eye on some in parkland just up the road and will be spending a few hours with them for a little study?

  • Such a-lot of traffic...

  • @TheHonestLove1 The traffic looks much worse than it actually was, due to the zoom lens, it was busy though.

  • What music was used to make this?

  • Sadly, it's been a while since I've been to The fair. Been living in USA and Canada for 11 years but I always remember to look up the new Appleby Fair videos that are newly posted after each years event.. I must say this is the most professionally done video I've seen in a long while. Well done that man! Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

  • Brilliant

  • Thanks again you are very talented Alan. I really can't add more as all the other people have said it all ! I will just say that you obviously thoroughly enjoy filming and it comes through to your audience.

  • amazing video thanks for posting. this year had a great atmosphere, shame about the weather on Sunday with a bit of rain but it was still just as good as any other year! I've uploaded a quick video of some of the video's and pictures I got, not nearly as good as this video obviously but I just absolutely love going to appleby on the Sunday every year. wouldn't miss it for anything. great video.

  • Beautiful horses thanks for posting this.

  • we were visiting a friend in there carovan at appleby yesterday and seen the red and white cob n commented on how stunning it was if its not the same one then its got very similar markings x

  • @crazyjane82 There wasn't too many red & white cob at the fair, so we probably saw the same horse. The horse of the fair for me was the 7yr Old White Cob Stallion, that I saw at the Rising Sun.

  • Alan cannot wait for your next part of your journey to Appelby when you put it up. Im originally from Ashington and seeing the Colesons, the Ruts, Ned who is no longer with us, Tommy Shafto all going to Appelby fair the same as you in traditional horses and carts and living waggon. Fantastic video keep up the good work. Very enjoyable.

  • @greavesful I spent two full days at Appleby, & I have just got back in the house, I have five hours of footage to sort out it will take a few weeks but it should be worth the wait.

  • The funny thing is that we were there today did you see the accident guy rammed horse into bush

  • @mrbubbles338 Just got back I didn't see the accident, but heard about from Biggles.

  • Alan my friend you have out done yourself..one hell of a great short film as sent link to 43 friends. Am truly envious & jealous of your ability at the same time..your editing skills & choice of back round music are spot on..have added a visit to your neck of the world to my bucket list before old age or cancer claims me as beautiful country and the people..what can I say as this was like taking a trip from the comfort of my recliner..hope this finds you well & at peace after your recent loss..

  • @fbi039 Sorry for the late reply Bruce, I spent a great few days at Appleby Fair, lucky as its only 45 miles from here. I managed to get back in one piece with 4 hours of footage to sort, met loads of new people & I have been invited to loads of other horse drives & fairs, on my doorstep, over the next few months. Only had about 4 hours sleep over the past few days, but the break has done me good. This part of the UK is brilliant, mainly off the tourist map, everyone loves it, history, scenery.
