I don't who is in this video, but Vicki Hackeman and Jackie Frantz were the two females in the lineup during the group's early years, prior to 1977.

Although the group had three no. 1 singles, including 'The Door is always OPen', my favorite by them was 'Queen of the Silver Dollar'.

@JasonEmery9 These two are Jackie and Vicki.... Jackie left and then Sue Powell replaced her. I think it was after 1979 that he started to get the revolving door of singers.

@yandrsupreme Believe it or not, we had political wrangling back in the 1970's, just not as virulent as today. Anyway, advisers to President Carter, a country music fan, invoked this song. They said that 'the door is always open', when Congress was ready to negotiate over something back then.

@gentlefaith42 I believe Waylon's version came out 1st, on his Dreaming My Dreams album (1975). D&S released their version in 1976. I've loved Waylon's version all my life, & now I love the D&S version also...in fact the whole D&S Anthology!
