  • Love Color My World!!! One of my Favs.

  • I'm impressed by Lee Loughnane's musical skills, not just on trumpet but in singing and guitar. I figured Jason Scheff would have sang the song but I guess the vocals weren't satisfactory.

  • This was written by Lee loughnane!

  • Just did this as a cover tune for my last gig. Went over well. Great tune, great memories. Thank you for posting mmelindam!

  • Lee is so super talented! Very nice job! By the way, Lee played the "Pig Man" in the 1973 movie, "Electra Glide in Blue", he has good acting chops too!

    Aloha!

  • I love ya Lee! Beautiful!!!! You're looking great too

  • @rocknu247

They probably tried that and Jason couldn't sing it on pitch, so they had no other choice.

  • @RedCeltYank1...Jason could've easily sang it on pitch, especially at the much lower key that Lee was singing the songs in. Lee did a good job but I would've loved to hear Jason sing these.

  • First off what does Lee,and ? need to do to kiss Cetras behind? 2nd lee co-wrote this song along with Danny as well. I am amazed Lee did this good . May just go back to see them this summer, after wanting them to hang it up! Nomore b.d songs and maybe a new cd would help!

  • Lee has got a good live voice, another great talent from a classic group.

  • Great work by Lee Loughnane in this performance covering lead vocal, guitar and trumpet! I'd like to see this performed again in 2010. Thanks for posting this.

  • Lee ROCKS!!! YAY!!

  • Very interesting. No tell Lover was the only song off Hot Streets (fall of 78) to make the Billboard top 100 in 1979 finishing the year @ #99. And if I'm not mistaken co written by Mr. Danny Seraphine. A fantastic song off of an album that I always thought was pretty darn good. Hard to believe but Alive again didn't even place. Seraphine's melodic, powerful, and yet sensitive drumming on the original cannot be replaced. Nor can Cetera's vocals.

  • @bit50s Alive Again is my favorite song from Hot Streets!

  • @bit50s actually lee wrote no tell lover, and you're right about seraphine and cetera

  • I may have been at this concert. Was this called "An Evening with Chicago"?

  • Although I like Peter's version (voice) better Lee is okay. I don't like it when people bash Chicago and it is also as bad when people bash Peter. I love Peter Cetera and I love Chicago. The past is the past and no one really knows what happen other then the members of the original band members.

  • cool Melinda they are my favorite too. Thanks for sharing

  • Very nice song :)

  • I never seen Lee sings this song I thought he does the horns

  • Lee has sung more songs that he's been given credit for. Plus, he has always played a big part in background vocals.

  • I saw Chicago in concert Glen Helen Park, and it was absolutly the best concert I attended in a long time they sang No Tell Lover and the crowd went crazy, also my favorite Chicago song. Thanks' for the post.

  • This just goes to show how great this band was. Almost all of the original band had great voices. It's ashame to lose all this great music.

  • I love "No Tell Lover" !!! For Many year's I was singing "Uptown Lover". I'm glad I was singing the right verison !!!

  • I've never seen Lee sing a lead part. That's pretty cool. I really like watching him in concert. He seems to have a lot of fun as do the others.

  • Usually he sings Let It Snow. But I like the irony that he is actually singing a song he helped write.

  • If you have the Chicago boxed set Group Portrait, check the liner notes for yourself. They reveal the facts regarding how Terry & Peter felt about each other's songwriting.

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I love Chicago and I LOVE Lee! I've never heard these two songs in concert before. I would love to see it in person, too!

  • es grandioso oir a Lee cantar!

  • wow! i rea lly love NO TELL LOVER! thanks so much!

  • Thanks for sharing! Lee does such a great job! I'm proud of him! Go Chicago Go Chicago!!!!!!! Aloha!

  • I like Lee's voice here, but how about he sings some Terry Kath tunes, since his voice is close to Terry's? Wishin' You Were Here a few years back was terrific. Instead, he's singing Peter Cetera compositions? He and the other original horns don't even like Cetera.

  • How come the other original members of the band seemed to get chocked and/or sad about Terry Kath's death, but Cetera. He seems to not have any feeling regarding Terry's death.

  • Terry & Peter did not get along during the band's heyday. According to the liner notes in the Group Portrait boxed set, Terry didn't care for Peter's songs (he didn't like Lowdown). When their producer threatened to drop Peter's song Wishing You Were Here because the band couldn't find the right groove, Terry wound up singing lead on the verses. The final straw was If You Leave Me Now, the group's first #1 hit (Peter's tune). Terry had enough & was working on a solo LP before his tragic death.

  • I understand Peter and Terry were close friends, though. They just had profound musical differences.

People react to tragedy differently. Maybe Peter just won't talk about it, period. I don't think it's fair to make assumptions.

  • ""Peter and Terry were like brothers and Terry was very happy for Peter. What made him upset was that he wasn't the one coming up with the ideas anymore. Terry was always leading the charge for Chicago in the early days, and he felt very frustrated that he couldn't come up with anything anymore. Peter was coming up with ideas and it wasn't what Terry wanted to do, but Terry didn't have any bad feelings for Peter." (Jospeh, 2000: pp 141) "

  • where exactly is that quote from?

  • Great to hear these old Chicago songs again. I haven't heard the new Chicago do these til now. Thanx for posting!

  • Great. Lee is awesome and does a great job on these songs.

  • I met Lee in 85 after a show. I was a trumpet major and he was very patient with a very excited fan. It's amazing how nice the whole group seems to be.

  • This was one of the great moments of the 2007 tour. It is very cool how Lee quickly switches from guitar to trumpet and back to the guitar. And he did some great vocal work in the medly also. I'd like to see this again in the 2009 tour.

    Thanks for posting this Melinda!

  • I've had the pleasure of meeting Lee a couple times (1993 and 1994) and he was very gracious and friendly with the fans.

I think my favorite Lee studio vocal is "This Time" off Chicago XI. I'd love to see the band dust off that one and let Lee sing one of his own songs live rather than one of Peter's.

  • Hey Perplexio!

I've heard Lee is a nice guy too! And I too would love to hear him sing one of his own songs rather than Peter's!...Melinda

  • @mmelindam Lee, Danny and the cry-baby Cetera(who? ) wrote the song!

  • @Perplexio Yes Lee is always very nice with the fans.....very gracious person...

I've met him a few times and he's always very nice.

I like "This Time" too, but my favorite is "Song of the Evergreens". I got to talk to Lee in an online chat in 1997 about SOTE and he said he was honored that Terry asked him to sing lead....

  • @Perplexio He also sang Colour My World on the 2010 tour. He does great on that song too.

  • Lee does a nice job here.

  • I would love just once to hear Lee do a cover of a Kath Song. He sounds just like him. I think it would be a great tribute to Terry to have Lee do it!

  • I'd rather hear Lee do "This Time" off Chicago XI and let Keith cut loose with a solid guitar solo.

  • I'd love to hear him sing Song of the Evergreens.

    It's such a great song.

    I love Lee's voice.

Too bad he didn't sing more songs!

  • i have been saying that for years.also i'd love to hear this time on a tour.that song was just a well written arrangement

  • I will, thanks. I remember seeing Lee talk about Terry's death in an interview, and he got very choked up, even though the interview was probably 30 years after Terry passed. It broke my heart to hear the pain in Lee's voice. That was such a raw and honest moment. I also have a lot of respect for the man, not just because of his extraordinary talent, but for how genuine he is.

  • Lee is one of the coolest musicians out there. I love it when he gets a chance to be up front.

  • I agree, zilch. Lee is one cool guy, and I have never heard him sing...LOVE IT! Glad to see Lee getting some recognition. We love ya, Lee!

  • I first saw Lee perform in 1998. He was making eye contact and and chatting it up with the crowd. Check out some of his interviews, I have a ton of respect for him.

  • Wow, thanks for posting these! The last time I saw Lee sing lead in concert was "Happy Man", another obscure Chi song. Lee has only sang three leads on studio albums in 40 years - the last one being Let it Snow! on XXV, the first Christmas album.

  • No!

I remember him singing lead vocals on "Song of the Evergreens" from the 7th album, "Together Again" from X, "This Time" from XI and of course "Let it snow" from the Christmas Album.
