@DcmPt Initially? Tyranids will win since they do have the numbers to prevail. Dragged on, the tyranids start to lose as the necron gauss weapons obliterates biomass (and pretty much anything hit, really) and the necrons never do suffer casualties. The tyranids will eventually run out of biomass to consume and the necrons, with their numbers that simply do not drop and their weapons that obliterate anything matter, will just keep up with their slow march.

It is technically impossible to destroy a tomb world by blasting it from the surface. The Imperium doesnt have that technology. They have Exterminatus, yes, but Necron tombs are pretty much the core of the planet there are many 100s of kilometers of rock, ores, not to mention necrodermis between them and the surface.

Void Dragon is worshipped as a god and is in stasis. That's far from being a pet. Also, Imperium history is full of lies. Necrons' main concern are the Eldar. They don't give rats ass about humanity. C'tan view humans as nothing more than ants to be stepped upon. Also, Necrons already defeated races of the universe once including the Old Ones and the Old Ones were far superior to the present fauna.

Necron World Machine. Was a single necron ship that destoryed an entire fleet and an entire system. Until they got a lucky shot by flew a Space Marine barge into it and damaging the phase shift generator allowing them to destory it.

Phase shift generators prevent any enermy fire from hitting a vessel (They disable anything that goes into it's radius) or unit. Pylons also have a weaker version that protects from arms fire and gives heavy cover saves.

I think the Tyranids would win not because they are biomechanically fitter ( in DoW2, they are quite clumsy -,- ) but because they can use the warp.

I think it's a problem with the design, GW intended the nids to be the ultimate battle creatures, but their body plans don't reflect those hardcore fluff stats at all.

Necrons aren't effected by the warp, most of their souls are so damaged they don't even register to warp entities. They have only dealt with the warp in three ways. The war against the Old Ones, who were the strongest warp entities in existence, the creation of the pylons in Cadia to prevent the spread of the Eye of Terror, and the Pariah gene which blocks all warp power in an area around the Pariah.

Tyrannids and Necrons dont do battle as far as I know. Tyrannids just ignore Necron worlds because necrons are the antithesis of life and chaos. There are references though in Eldar prophecies that Necrons somehow control tyranid swarms. Probably indirectly.

I heard for their 5th edition codex, the necrons get +1T across the codex. their warrios get FEEL NO PAIN, their Gauss weapons get the RENDING special rule. and they become relentless. Plus their Necron Lord is getting 4 tier upgrades (Bronze the current lord, silver, gold, and C'tan Avatar) kinda like the Space Marine Captain to Chapter Master thing.

I can't get confirmation on this, its just a rumour, i have seen it on forums like Heresy, DakkaDakka, Warseer, and Bolter and Chainsword. But it seems unlikely. Apparently in 5th Ed, Tyrand Gaunts will become 7 points but their weapons are for free, and a universal special rule is gonna be Fleshhooks. Again very unlikely. to answer your question, its just a rumor, so sorry.
