He had his knighthood taken away, because he was no longer holding off on landreform - which is why he was given a knighthood in 1994.
Think about that year. It was the year the ANC came to power in South Africa.
It was the ANC which asked president Mugabe to hold off on land reform after 1989, to ease negotiations with the Boers.
In 1997, New Labour came to power, reneged on it's obligations to fund Willing Buyer, Willing Seller, opening the way for Fast Track.
The rest is history.
