  • best depotting method out there. ALSO, thank you for less talky, more do-y. there are so many videos out there where girls get carried away instead of showing their method.

  • Great video - it worked perfectly for me. And I love the tip about getting the label off the original packaging. Well done!

  • Worked great for me. Thank you so much for sharing!

  • This was awesome, thanks so much. Have all my shadows de-potted and into my palettes!!

  • do the mac palltes bring the magnets?

  • This is good info, but I'm a step by step no extra talk kind of person.

  • @elizaHOODbeth cant not .. cante

    just sayin :)

  • wait, what i cant understand you? your studdering!!!

  • This is so much easier than how I was doing it. Thanks!

  • Thanks this is excatly what I needed!!

  • i love the form that has the eyeshadow at 3:51!

  • Thanks this helped ALOT!!

  • do the conners sell the ones in pan form or just the stores

  • doode i did all 15 shadows and it only took me 15 minutes for all of it! great tutorial!

  • OMG so f**king easy thanks so much !

saved me tons of room in my makeup cabinet.!

  • oh yeah by the way...MAC will NOT take just the empty plastic case. it has to have the metal tray that the eyeshadow sits in.

  • at my mac i don't need the pan to back 2 mac it.

  • what is the name of the magnet paper?and where can i get?

  • hobby lobby

  • my shadow doesnt have the bit in the middle, i git them frm mac website though so not fake

  • i made this vid for u

  • Thanks so much!!! Nothing like spending a rainy Saturday night depoting your shadows. My husband just walked in and laughed at me... At least I saved him $14.50 that always makes him happy.

  • With regards to the wax paper: wax side up or paper side up...

  • before i knew this i depoted my eyeshadow and it broke , my mother in law said u just got to ask for them

  • yeah its says mac i think they only sale it in the big mac stores not in the macy's boost

  • wow this is great! i depotted 6 shadows and now they're kinda chipping and broken. it bums me out every time i open my palette to use them. wish i would have seen this method before because its fantastic.

  • it comes in a little cardboard thing with the eyeshadow in the pan inside and the mangnet under the pan i dont know if all mac stores have it but my mother in law bought them like that i dint even know that u could buy them like that

  • so does the eye shadow cardboard thing still says mac? or its just a plain one. I never seen any of them sells like that..

  • I went on Mac's site and they had it in a black box and they called it shadow refill.

I posted my comment at 4 am so I was thinking of a random person holding an eyeshadow while walking in the mall lol. brains don't work when you're tired

  • u know u can just get the single eyeshadow without the case and its 11 dollars with the case its 15 dollars

  • That's not true. If you're just going to get the shadow it self then how are you going to bring it home without ruin it? Mac NEVER sells eyeshadow like that

  • Sorry but its true. Ask for "pallet eyeshadow." 11 bucks.

  • nevermind I saw them on mac's website for 11 dollars and they called it

"refill" I haven't seen it in any store over here tho

  • some of the newer colors dont come in the refill. and if u go the macy's they dont sell them in the refill

  • holly fucking crap it takes you over 5 mins to even start the whole point of this

  • thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

i just purchased a mac palette and i watched your video last night and depotted seven eyeshadows using this technique! tyvm! <3

  • ditto

  • Siren!!

  • I can't find that magnet :( Can you get it from ebay?

  • What if you just crazy glue the bottom of the eyeshadow to the magnet instead of heating it?

  • This is my ultimate Depotting vid. Please don't ever erase. I depotted all my mac eyeshadows the first time around. And, needed to do it again today months later. Totally forgot. Please don't delete. I'm sure I'll need to watch it again in a couple of months. Thanks for such a great tutorial. I did find it really easy to aquire the materials under the same roof...mine. :)

  • Is that beautiful iris ?

  • lancome fits as well:)

  • where do you buy the mac palletes i don't have mac in my city i love mac but i want a pallete but i can't find them anywhere can you help me?

  • You can also get them at a regular MAC store... but not at a counter (like Macy's or Nordstroms)

    hth

  • where can you get the pallets?

  • omg you talk to much

  • thanks so much, this is perfet!

  • oh wow! this is a much simpler way than I've seen before.. thank you :D depot party tonight, hehe

  • how much r the palletes??

  • hey great video!

it really helped me out because yesterday i depotted my first eyeshawdow from mac....

but the person at mac said a lot of people break them when they depot them

  • i have that same iron!

  • milani fits.

  • Thanks that was very helpful!

  • i am just about to go and use my sandwich press to depot one. its my first time. WISH ME LUCK!!!!!

  • can you still use the flat iron for your hair after you do this

  • Yes

  • buhhlah! :)

  • where did u get that red shadow that you showed?

why did it have a head on it?

    please reply :)

  • the pink shadow she showed that has a head on it is from Barbie loves MAC collection that came out last year.. its limited edition..

  • You are soooo smart..too bad I didn't watch your video before I stabbed my mac shadows to death :(..... Thanx anyway..

  • I guess I cannot depot eyeshadows because I dont have a hair straightener

  • she said you can use an iron or a candle.

  • how much are the palettes? thanks

  • depending if you are in the us or canada, i think they're like $12-14

  • Do you have to stick the little black part back into the main part for the MAC to take it back?

    Great tutorial!

  • and also(the last message didnt fit what i wanted to say)how much does the eyeshadow and blush pallette cost.one more question...so say if i started buying the regular shadows depot each one that i buy ti add up the six items evrytime.are they going to be cool with that cause i do always recycle mac com=ntainers but i'm a little paranoyed about the depoted ones....

  • as soon as i saw this vid i tried popping out the eyeshadows and it was so easy but instead of using my flat iron i used something a little faster like lighter torch(i think thats what its called)anyway but it was actually faster than i thought it would take.i actually had fun doing it.thank you!!!!oh and the mac counter has no problem with us bringing it in if they know we depot it ourselves right???

  • does anyone know how long it takes for the center part to melt, like when is it ready?

  • i tried your method over the weekend and it was so fast and easy to pop those shadows out--THANK YOU!!

  • hey dustbunnies.U sound ncie and luv ur username!

  • Does it melt the shadow itself when you do that? Thanks!

  • it wont melt the shadow. its mostly different kind of powders that make up the shadow itself, so heat cant hurt it.

  • Milani Eyeshadows fit perfectly!!

  • Can MAC eyeshadows fit in a E.L.F make-up palette

  • omgosh guess what! I have that paper clip too! haha. okay I'm done. btw I'm totally gonna use your way, it's easy and seems kinda quick...

  • ...I have those scissors too...

  • haha I have that straightening iron! yay

  • I like your technique. You make it look fairly easy so I think I'm going to pick up a palette and start depotting tonight. I'm so excited :)

  • thank you so much for this tutorial! i just bought my first palette and have been depotting like crazy (: thank you sooooo much

  • This is great! So simple and fun!

  • wi dont you show your face

  • Yay !

    It worked ! (=

I know we can buy the already depotted ones that are cheaper but depotting is so much fun!

  • Urban decay can fit in :d

  • im going to do it ur way

  • where do u get your mac pro palette?

i cant seem to find them ANYWHERE.

  • you can purchase them at a MAC free standing store! They come in 15 and quads!

  • This is way better than any other depotting method I've seen. A lot of people just poke and prod at their shadows and try to lift them out with knifes and stuff, but with that technique you risk cracking the eyeshadow. This way seems pretty fool proof. Thanks! =)

  • Show us on How to press pigments into empties then put into empty eyeshadow palettes

  • just wondering where did u bought your MAC pan (container) from???

  • you can purchase them at a MAC free standing store! They come in 15 and quads!

  • your welcome

  • By any chance do you know a way to fix mac shadows that have cracked? I hate to have to throw them out because some of my colors are discontinued. Is there a way to save them?

  • Yes, to save them, you'll need some rubbing alcohol and a quarter wrapped in cloth. pour a little alcohol into the pan, and using the quarter wrapped in cloth, press the cracked eyeshadow back together! i think enkoremakeup did a video on this..check his channel out!

  • i have the same flat iron

  • yah it's very popular..gets the job done :)

  • acutally milani shadows do fit in the mac pallete

  • great! thanks for the info :)

  • hello where do you by youre palette?

do you have a site with this palette

sorry for the language i'm french and i don't speack english:s thanks

  • that's ok, je ne parle pas francais ;), i understand.

You buy the palettes at normal MAC stores for $12 USD. You need to ask a MAC associate to get a palette for you in storage because they do not have them on display. You can also purchase them from a MACpro store, or by calling the 1800 phone number on the maccpro . com site.

  • yah

  • Yah put it inside when you lift the latch a bit,,take ur knife and put the rubbing alcohol on the tip and soflty add a couple drops to the single shadow or trio or whatver your using to depot(shadow)and wait and it'll come apart to come out without pressure

  • thanks for the tip! but then I guess you'd have to glue the thing to the magnet using some other glue.

  • There;s one other way you could take your eyeshadow out instead of applying heat to the single shadow or anythhinf else.i use rubbing alcohol ..take your pointy knife and dip the end in the rubbing alcohol,,but first unlatch the eyeshadow,,lift it there;s a latch in the front or on trhe side..just apply pressure and it should lift,,put alcohol in the therel,be patient, thand should be easy to lift without forvcing it..

  • cool method! you could do that anywhere :). so I guess u could do the same thing to the label?

  • I love dustbunnies' technique...heating up the glue so u can stick the shadow to one side of the magnet and then the label is nice and sticky after heating up the rest of the container so it can stick to the other side of the magnet!! Thanks!!!

  • thanks! it sure beat using a separate glue or buying those magnets with stickers on it :)

  • have you ever had the glue like, all over the tin D: i just tried to depot one of my MAC eyeshadows and everything worked fine except there's glue like all around the sides as well as the bottom! /sad

  • yeah I've totally had that happen to me before :). now that I know it happens I just make sure to scrape that stuff off as soon as I stick on the magnet so that it doesn't have time to dry! But even so..it's all sticky still eh? I guess you could use a solvent to take it off..not sure what tho :)

  • use a qtip dipped in alchohal

  • where can u buy magnets and do u hafta use magnets

  • You can buy them at craft stores such as Michael's either in the sheet form like I show in the video or in circular form. Some of them may come with a sticky backing on them too.

You have to use magnets if you want the shadow not to come out when you turn the palette upside down. you can always just opt NOT to use them if you are sure you will never turn it upside down. I have one pan sitting like that in there, but it shifts around a little bit too since the hole is a little larger than the pan

  • thanks for sharing!

  • i love your videos!

  • thanks ;)

  • I liked the video so much! thanx!

  • no problem :)

  • Hi!!

Why don't you buy "eye shadow pro palette refill pans"? they are cheaper than the usual shadows :D

here in Spain a usual shadow is like 16€ (23 USD)

and an "eye shadow pro palette refill pan" is like 12€ (17 USD)

    hope it helps! :D

  • I actually do buy the pan shadows for 10.50 USD here. the eye shadows I depot are either Limted Edition or the ones I get from the outlet store for $10. Thanks for your comment

  • you're welcome! :D

    luv your vids:)

  • oh wow, thanks for the tutorial. i seen alot of depotting tutorial techniques, but yours is so easy to do. ^_^

  • i'm glad that it seems easy in comparison :)

  • Hi i've watched tons of "depotting" videos and i LOVED yours! It inspired me to spend my day off running to the MAC store buying 5 palettes and depotting 65 eyeshadows!!! CRAZY!

    THANKS AGAIN!

  • wow I'm so happy that you liked my depotting version :)!!! did you actually buy 65 shadows?? haha show us a video of your palettes when you get them! also, you can just as your MAC MA for the shadow in pan-form instead of having to depot them! They cost like $10.50, and if you do the math end up saving u a lot of money regardless of the free thing you'd get after depotting 6...ok i'll do a video on that too :)

yay! i'm so glad ur palette crazy :)!

  • I know i can't believe i own that many shadows i've been buying MAC since i was 18 and now im 25 so i've built up quite a collection!! but again i liked ur vid b/c w/ that engineer mind of yours it seems like ur depotting was the best plan of action for me to let go of those containers i even depotted my quads!! oh and i did the whole heating the label thing too LOVES it! thanks again!

  • i love your haul vids!

but, i have a suggestion: anyone who wnats to depot shadows without using heat should watch enkorenmakeup's depotting mac shadows without using heat video.

it's really easy, simple, and heat free... no toxic fumes from melting the plastic.

  • a definite alternative!

  • great THANK U

  • glad you found it helpful!

  • Does MAC take the B2M without the silver thing?

  • from my experience yes! But if you are unsure about your MAC counter I would call in and ask them.

  • awesome! u make it look soo easy, thanks! :)

  • yay! I was hoping it would seem so :)
