Dust?,,,, the film convieniently distorts just b4 landing, so it could be another retake shot from a pinion camera (so there is no dust) The soil also looks NOTHING like any rover images,,, Just a disinformation flick to me, sorry. It was produced by the UK's Anglia Television as an elaborate April Fool's Day hoax/joke which was intended to air on April 1st, 1977 only in the UK to pay homage to Orson Welles' "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast.

I've also checked into planetary alignments of 1962 and it does not appear that the Earth and Mars were at their closest during May 22nd 1962. In fact, it appears that they were not very close at this time. Earth to Mars window occurs every 2.135 years. Thus the best time to go (with a UFO even) would be either late 1961 of late 1963. At those times your communications with radio would at it's minimal delay.
