this is the frist monster idea the creators had but they ended up changing the design for the monster. it at frist was like a gaint whale with eight flippers and two legs, two arms,and a hugh tail like a blue whale,in my opinion is better than the modorn one bacause i could see it in my minds eye swimming in the sea as a sea animal(i say this because the director said that its a old, and in till the start of the movie, dorment animal).its even larger and much bulker than the one seen film today.

The "old" Cloverfield monster design that was leaked is actually a design which already existed. check out Sin from the game Final Fantasy X. either its a fake to lure people away from the actual design or else someone played a prank on everyone interested in the movie.

Actually it may not be a fake. If you take a close look on the tail that breaks the bridge it`s a fish tail, while Clover has a tail with plates almost at the edge. Also if you take a close look at where the chopper light hits you will see the back of something, and since the news cast in the electronics store is live it can`t be the same monster. I`ll soon post a video showing this if you don`t have the vid and don`t believe me.
