I've not heard of Sh. Habib Umar before, but he sounds like a voice for peace and respect. I hope the popular press also covers his tour - not everyone watched SBS and more non-muslims need to hear the voice of moderate leaders like Sh. Habib Umar.

Jazak Allah for making this clear, sdefranc. However, sister aishadk's comment was not inappropriate at all, she said the right thing, in my opinion. But, yeah, of course if the lady was wearing very revealing clothes, Masah'Allah, Sheikh did what was Allah's command.
I feel this is unfair on Muslims' part that the reporter didn't mention the complete reason, but just that he was uncomfortable talking to a woman directly - which does sound weird in a way.
In my experience with the media, we should always hold with suspicion everything they say, even more so when it comes to Islam and Muslims. However nor do I blame the reporter in this case, as she was not to know, rather it was simply due to a break down in communication, insha'Allah all parties learn from it for the future.

Did Rasuallah (s.a.w) speak to women who were indecently dressed? Just because the Sheikh may have felt uncomfortable, doesn't mean he is performing bid'a, may Allah forgive you and I sister. Think better of people, and show mercy to people so that Allah can show you mercy.

In my experience with the media, we should always hold with suspicion everything they say, even more so when it comes to Islam and Muslims. However nor do I blame the reporter in this case, as she was not to know, rather it was simply due to a break down in communication, insha'Allah all parties learn from it for the future.

Did Rasuallah (s.a.w) speak to women who were indecently dressed? Just because the Sheikh may have felt uncomfortable, doesn't mean he is performing bid'a, may Allah forgive you and I sister. Think better of people, and show mercy to people so that Allah can show you mercy.
