Mine did that! Cockpit now held on with Rare earth magnets. I know this post is 3 years old, but damn if it isn't true today! And it's discontinued, so you can't even get the parts anymore! Dunno why, 'cos it's a great trainer for EDF! Stock on 4s mine is the fastest thing I fly!
I dont' think that the lightweight canopy makes so much variations on the CG to cause a flat spin, by the way interesting to see how it beheaves, were you with motor on or off in the spin moment?

Does this model work with a regular radio system, or do you need radio mixing?

The twister seems to have a slight backwards CG from the factory.
I have moved my CG forwards 25 mm, and installed 1½ kg thrust

Nope,
it was part of the cockpit that came of. As a result, the COG was shifted backwards. And the rest is history ;-)
5 minutes later, the plane was airborne again!

Not only the COG was affected, but the aero dynamics were too.
