Whoa. The 1990 version reminds me a lot of the soundtrack CD music for E.V.O. Search for Eden! And the 1992 version reminds me of music from a Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon series game.

Oh my word that music at 3:26 brings back so many memories from years and years ago I remember as a kid every Monday and Wednesday and Fridays I used too come home from school sit in front off the TV and watch Blue Peter and that clip at 3:26 is my favourite it is fantastic also I remember a Blue Peter episode I watched sometime in 1998 when they played football on the show and they started talking about football I forgot when it was though I seem too remember it being a great episode though

I love that music at 3:36 I remember every Monday Wednesday and Friday afternoons at 5.10pm on BBC One on Childrens BBC the last programme off the day was Blue Peter and I loved that tune back then it was a real old classic that tune was I used too watch that every Monday Wednesday and sometimes Fridays way back in the year off 1999 but Blue Peter was really cool back then do you agree there I think that is a real old classic and it does bring back so many memories as well from way back in 1999

I remember BP from the late eighties and probably watched right up untill around 2000. But ad I young child I loved it, loads of adventure. The persevered represented wholesome respectable adults you could look up to. Best episode was the Tracy island build. I also loved byker grove

1999 was the best one in my opinion - it kind of bridges the gap between orchestral and modern, and you've got some world influence with the didgeridoo, steel and tabla drums. When they started having electric guitar as the lead instrument that's when it went bad... Even though they seem to be trying to 'modernising' it by doing so, it actually sounds more dated.

What an incredible study! This compilation should be recommended listening to all students of music, media and social history!

Personally speaking, I feel that the theme sounds embarrassingly weak whenever the producers try too hard to modernise it or make it overly internationally inclusive. I love all races and nationalities of course, but the strength of the piece suffers whenever there's a drive to make it more politically correct, as if the original were something to be ashamed of. IMHO

Yes, the 1979 variation is fine, but they get messier and messier- just like the programme. They should go back to the original and do a straightforward, 'classic' version- modern recording techniques will make it feel contemporary. As to the programme itself, it's a question of where to begin- the last one I saw had the presenters shouting over muzak all the way through and it's no wonder that hardly anyone watches anymore.

I remember them changing it in 96, at the time I thought it was not as good as the 92 one; that has style.
