  • This ad was filmed in Atlanta in 1981 featuring the students from the Northside Atlanta School of the Performing Arts. Billy Densmore was the director of the school at that time and Coca-Cola was a sponsor of the school. The kids were not paid, but the arts school made over $3 million dollars during the 5 years of their sponsorship. They also paid the program to send the kids to Europe during spring breaks to perform!!!

  • check out actress Diane Franklin from Better off Dead @0:19

  • Poke a zit!

  • I kind-of miss musical commercials. They were certainly memorable.

  • go kiss it!

  • its better than glee.

  • crazy cokeheads

  • This ad is like watching an episode of Glee in 30 seconds

  • Comment removed

  • Trying to copy those LAME DOCTOR PEPPER Ads!

  • the best commercial of all time - thank you....

  • This is telling us what the real coke tasted like in that year. Now, it's shameful the Coke industry messed it up with HFCS! :-((

Come on CocaCola company! Bring back to the old coke with cocaine and sugar!!

  • @dmana3172 They stopped using Cocaine about 100 years ago.

  • @SouthwesternEagle . But you didn't. LMAO

  • @TheLizardKing1967 LOL! Happy to say I am and have been drug free my whole life!

btw, relating to this video, has anyone ever heard of the Win-In Can? I opened one and inside was 50 cents and a red shity with the slogan "Coke is it!". Judging the year of this commercial, it is not new. XD

  • @SouthwesternEagle Your telling me you aint smoked or drank alcohol ever?? Not buying that like haha

  • @djnemesisuk No, I have not. Whether or not you believe me is up to you.

  • @SouthwesternEagle shame, because bar the smoking, your loosing out on some perks the bodys capable of. That doensnt mean become a junkiehaha. Moderate drug takings pretty socialable where i live. Live a little. Plenty time to sleep when your dead ;-)

  • @SouthwesternEagle True. So let's hope they bring it back for the first time in 100 years and that will be the real thing.

  • @dmana3172 Cocaine is bad stuff. Negative side effects outweigh the benefits. I have an alternative:

Instead, use something like Dextroamphetamine, (prescription strength (basically Adderall)). The effects would be much safer and more positive. Only problem is that if Coca Cola contained either substance, a Black Box FDA warning would be issued, rendering it as a prescription. Availability would be a tremendous issue. All I want is sugar. Caffeine suffices as a good stimulant.

  • Jesus Christ I miss the fucken 80's.

Innocent high-spirited prosperity and kickass hollywood movies galore.

Too bad the current generation of kids born of loser-ass parents will never understand it. Perhaps they need to invent a time machine. I recommend a DeLorean. 1985 was a great year, see. Just ask Marty.

  • I am looking for the Brazilian version of this commercial.

  • me too

  • COKE IS IT !!!

  • I guess calling it "glee-like" shows a person's age.

It copies the look and style of Irene Cara's "Fame", a hit song and tv show from '80.

I guess that shows my age!

  • Holy fuck. They can't invent kickass jingles like this these days because... why? Oh yeah, america has run out of talent.

  • A little too glee-like for my taste.

  • @kobebryant9981 A little hard for this to be "glee-like" since this commercial came from the 80's and "Glee" comes from what, 2009?

  • Maybe the 1980s wasn't so bad afterall....

  • I love this commercial, no one looks queer or emo or sickly or has tattoos all over their body and piercings all over their face. And only two blacks, an accurate representation.

  • There actually talking about the drug

  • I missed Old Coke before Coca Cola Classic :-(

I'm sad, no more old coke ;~((

  • Try to get your hands on some Coca-Cola bottled in Mexico. They still use real cane sugar and package it in glass bottles. It's not exactly the same as Old Coke...but it's very close. It's WAY BETTER than the stuff bottled here in the US.

  • I agree it's not exactly the same like Old Coke because they no longer contain cocaine in them. I hopes they will put it back in one day like they did in 1885.

  • LOL! When you said old Coke, I thought you meant pre-1985. Not pre-20th century!

  • @badwx There's a an international grocery here in a Chicago suburbs Niles that carries sugar cane Coke.

  • @PoxyBear Thanks for the info Poxy! I've actually seen it in several places. From a tiny little gas station in a tiny little town in Wisconsin...to all over here in the Phoenix area. I'm so grateful that it's becoming so widely available. It tastes just like it did back in the 70's, back when nothing could even come close to an ice cold Coca-Cola.

  • Blow is where it's at!

  • Can somebody please post the longer version?

  • ^how epic ^^

  • I don't drink Coke myself, but I like this commercial. I used to dance to its tune in 1982 when I was a young man. It is still refreshing and fun.

  • Why the hell does this remind me of "Fame"

  • Yeah yeah...

  • I wish the really put the drug coke intot the drink like in the old days! and maybe the world would be a better place. =(

  • What year did they stopped putting the drug coke into the drink?

  • My friend is in that commercial, the cute guy with the red collared shirt.

  • the one next to the other guy in the red collared shirt?

  • Lower right hand corner.....right next to the girl in the blue blouse.

  • I would like to know who the brunette is at :17. She has an AMAZING voice! I absolutely love it!

  • Coke Is It!!!

  • I love Coke, any soft drink is a coke to me even Cream Soda and Root Beer!!

  • relax... looks like their on coke

  • Relax... Looks like they're ON Coke!

  • Coke rotted all my teeth out :(

  • I agree but first they need to bring back the taste of coke I remember as a kid, with real sugar and not the high fructose crap

  • mexican coke is sold with real sugar..look around for it and you'll find it

  • Yeah, I love mexican coke, the REAL REAL thing. It's good stuff and can be found in some ethnic grocery stores. I've always been a fan of both coke and pepsi but ever since pepsi came out with Throwback with real sugar they are definately getting most of my soda money.

  • coke is it!!!!!!

  • Is that actor Tim DeKay at :20?

  • Oops, I mean the last 15 seconds. I guess the whole thing is 30 seconds long. Sorry.

  • If any officials from Coca Cola are reading this, ahem: Bring back the jingle from the last 30 seconds. Modernize it into your current commercials, and watch your sales soar. Again.

History is a learning tool. Use it as such :)

  • I totally agree with you. coke has one of the best commercials on the planet. if only they can revive its great appeal over again.

    yes! coke is it!

    aihihihi!!!

    baklita

  • They removed the drug from the drink.

  • They use cocain leaves up untill 1929 by then it was cocain free

  • @WakeupsCall why does everyone online think they are a genius...

  • I think I remember an episode of the cartoon Rescue Rangers where they had a cult that chanted a jingle similar to this one from when I was a kid.

  • Where can I find the long version of this ad?

  • "The one that never lets you down"? For Pete's sake, it's a soda, not Jesus the Savior!

  • While this campaign may have been "a flop" compared to the "Real Thing" campaign, this is way better than anything out there today. What a killer jingle. Too bad they don't make them like that anymore.

  • I still see this slogan on this one Coke machine from the '80s (no Catch the Wave or Always Coca-cola), which I usually get a Coke from (the Cokes are new, though, eventhough the machine is from the '80s).

  • Thanks for posting this one, nice to see it again after somany years

  • "Actually the world's most recognized trademark's Coke is It! campaign was well received in a slowing soft-drink market in the early to mid 80's. The flop came when Coke abonded its original beverage formula, coincidentally in the early 80's."

Then perhaps Coke needs to get back to the good old days. Because guess what? Everyone I knew fainted when they saw this commercial, back in the mid 80's.

  • They should reair these commercials and relaunch the "Coke is it!" campaign. This commercial actually made me want Coke. The new commercials just bore me.

  • Where's the full version?

  • "Actually the "Coke is it" campaign was quite the mareting flop -- never even came close to the success of the "The Real Thing" slogan"

Everything is relative. And it would kick ass on the "Real Thing" big time, these days.

  • Thank you for sharing!

I just love this great ad and the song.

Too bad English is not my native language,

so I don't completely understand the lyrics.

Who could kindly type the lyrics, please?

I'd really love to get it!

    Thanks a lot!

  • mrleeok8 "OK kids take a break" Coke is it The most refreshing way to make the most of every day And wherever you go And whatever you do There's something big waiting for me and you Coke is it The biggest taste you've ever found Coke is it The one that never lets you down Coke is it The most refreshing taste around Coke is it Coke is it!
  • Thank you so much for your help, yahuzs!

  • damn its 2007 and coke is still badass

  • The can looks a lot like the ''New Coke'' type cans for Coca-Cola's sweeter formulation ''New Coke''.

  • I swear, I would love to see this song in a modern commercials.

  • I wonder if you ever sniff a coke can if you get high??LOL

  • If Coke redid this samn damn jingle in a brand new 21st century commercial and an updated setting, anyone wanna guess how much profit they'd make afterwards?

I'd venture to say: lots. Yup.

  • I would love to hear the whole song from 1982 was Coke is It!

  • commercial in 80's was so short!! i didn't know that

  • They should re-do it with the same hip singing!

  • This is the best one .Great little jingle!!!!

  • Best COKE Commercial ever. Should be run today.

  • sweet! It's the coca cola commercial! hahaha!

  • Thank you for posting this! This jingle still plays in my head when I least expect it! I haven't heard this since the early 80's.

  • Oh yeah, the girl from Better Off Dead and Bill and Ted's is in this!

  • I remember this. :)

  • hell yeah better off dead and the physco paper boy

  • i agree

  • And you are super job-less apparently. This single ad made 27 million dollars profit. Bet you can't say that about yourself.

  • 2 dollars!! I want my 2 dollaaaaaaars! hehe nope, you're not alone.

  • How COULD anyone forget Better Off Dead? I loved the dessert John Cusack's mom made...the green one with raisins that crawled off the plate...LOL!

  • nothing like Coke's sugary syrup acid to keep a dancer slim or to keep a singers voice smooth

  • i just broke out into song while watching this and my husband gave me a weird look...

  • wow. happiness =)

  • Wow. Anybody have any idea how much money folks get paid to write jingles like this for big market tv? We're talking $150k+ for one like this, and that's in 1982. These days, it's more like $500k. Not bad for cheeseball ads. Hey, if it sells the product, they do whatever necessary.

  • that's bs

  • So 80's

  • And those people are definitely on coke.

  • They should play this on TV now. It would get people's attention like nothing else, and the 80s are starting to be retro cool anyway.

  • I remember there was a longer version of this commercial that aired in the Super Bowl. THAT would be a find.

  • Jazz (the Dance) was hip during that time...

  • That is the chick from Better off Dead. Simone.

  • ha! i just watched it and told my brother "that's the french chick from that movie!"

i'm glad i'm not alone in remembering better off dead haha

  • I spied at least one movie star in there. Can you find her?

  • No.... who is the movie star? One looked like Pat Benatar though! :-)

  • was this when the movie fame was big?

  • yes, and the tv show.

  • My mom says that when I was a toddler, I would run into the room just to watch this commercial.
