Why not just have open rehearsals and invite the audience into the room physically. I mean, I know that lots of people don't get that opportunity, but I feel it would be missing too much.

Personally, as a performer, I wouldn't feel comfortable with this being a rehearsal... element. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I just wouldn't want it to be standardised. I don't know, I am not trying to be traditionalist, but... I don't know... I'm not very articulate this today.
