Just a little tip for those who don't know- the Dwarvin Mechanism is found by Talking to the crazy guy all alone in a cave in some iceberg. He is also apart of the main quest line.

As a two-handed weapons warrior I had little trouble defeating this guy on Adept level, he's very slow and his spell tends to miss at short distance, just make sure you have lots of healing potions though, or Magicka potions, as you can heal up with a basic spell while easily evading this slow foe.

@mymanjdog It's a quest item. If you go to this outpost North by North east of the collage in Winterhold, you'll come across an outpost - talk to the guy in there (the outpost will show up as a cave on your compass - if memory serves)
