What makes Urwerk so remarkable is that the whole of the company is made up of the two watchmaking brothers and the one designer. The two Baumgartner brothers are entirely responsible for engineering and assembling the final timepieces.
If you like this, you have to see the new Harry Winston Opus XI with 566 components to tell only hours and minutes. It is the most outrageous watch this year. I see this as a trend emphasizing complicated design and unconventional time displays rather than than traditional complications--also see MB&F's HM4 Thunderbolt. @diegator What does single function mean here? It does not service you on a weeknight or what? Please explain. I for one am please to see something without a tourbillon ramed in it. This is the flex capacitor of watches. Take it easy bro.
@IMSTINKYBUTHAVESWAGG Well, KungFuChess was saying that it should do a lot more than just tell time. But it doesn't, beucase it's a watch. I agree, it's classy and beautiful, but it's still a watch in the end, that's all it does. By single function device, I mean exactly that- that is what watches do- as opposed to read e-mail, send text messages and make phone calls (and also tell time) which is what most people carry with them today in the form of a smart phone.
@diegator Thanks for explaining that to me. For some reason I was taking it differently. Many people that I know have stopped 'using' watches. They have their cell phones. Maybe in a few generations they will be gone? Who knows but I love... single function devices that do not connect me to the Facebook or internet. Cheers.
@diegator Well telling time was such a major event back many years ago you have to think of it as the smart phone of the 1600's. So European watches cost alot because of the history of the companies an the history of watch lovers. So i agree that watch is a smartphone that has no internet LOL.
It only cost $81,600.00

You have to wonder if at least one of the Baumgartner brothers worked in aerospace engineering.
