  • chinese traders brought it to Kochin hundreds of years ago - hence the name "Chinese Fishing Net"

  • It is telling that this largely stationary net contraption is not pulling fish out of the water. At the time it was constructed there were enough fish to justify its expense. I suspect that the fish have either all been fished out, or other environmental issues are at work to put this net system near the end of its useful life.
