  • Howcome he has such wide ass grip? i usually use my fingers too the groves :s

  • I'm not an expert on Olympic lifts and I would love to try them if I can find a gym which has some bumper plates so I can practise more. But I think what sets Pat Mendes apart from the others is the speed at which he gets the bar into position. He is really explosive.

  • Olympic Gold in 2016??

  • He uses lifting straps -.-

  • @Ben6988 So do many international Olympic lifters when training.

  • that was awesome

  • this is fake, those weight are clearly made of cotton candy

  • need a spotter!

  • @42MajesticSwag Thanks for my laugh of the day.

  • @42MajesticSwag you can't spot power moves buddy

  • @42MajesticSwag Apart from going out clubbing on a saturday night.. How the hell do you spot a snatch???

  • completely 100% correct sir.when the press was eliminated from competition the bench lost favor with the olympic lifters.powerlifting also branched out to focus on the 3 big lifts.excellent job sir!

  • i just pooped.

  • pual andersons son ?

  • @HeadscissorLuver

I think your on to something.

  • corn-fed :)

  • wtf, i hope he doesnt ever lose his balance!

  • how the fck is it humanly possible to lift 190+kg!?!?

  • this guy is a junior?... wow i'm truly amazed if this guy is under 18 this is really impressive. Do you play football or anything cuz you would run through people

  • @JordanC71428 Junior as in under 20, and he's not longer such.

  • that looks so scary to do

  • probably genetics

those people just build for heavy weights

  • @bobbyoty genetics gave him the ability to train harder and he did exactly that.... i would say a combination of genetics, training, nutrition, and etc

  • Wow congrat Super Pat..keep going brother...

  • every video I see of you lifting is highly impressive. Seriously, anyone who hates/dislikes these amazing feats of strength is retarded. keep it up man.

  • that was so explosive

  • this dude is a animal

  • What is considered a Junior? Under 20?

  • @DarkSwan641 20 and under

  • too easy

  • i was the first junior to snatch over 400lbs. in 2008 i lifted a toyota, 3200lbs. with one arm. so there.

  • Fuck this optical illusion for my ears-

  • 180 to 182.5? Pfff... go to 185 or 187. Plenty left in the tank

  • guy in video "holy s***"

at the same time in my head "holy s***"

lol i like the way that guy thinks

  • is it me or pats motto is 'time to rack it?'

  • @kwstas67 that was the 800 vid, this time he said "how'd I do that!?"

  • insane. amazing form, this should be an instructional video

  • beast.

  • That is amazing. Just unreal. Just watching that I feel like I'm going to fall backwards in my chair. Just unreal. Fantastic job.

  • Please don't tell me you were using straps on those lifts, I would shit myself

  • that is fucking insane

  • Holy crap.... i can barely do 75 pounds.....

  • Nice. did that eeeeaasssyyyy

  • I can't get my head around these weights he lifts lol

  • Everytime I see this I'm terrified his shoulders are going to pop out. Impressive lift bro!

  • goo!

  • Who the fuck dislikes these videos??? Fucking douche bags

  • @hzlwdcntrlftbll I disliked the video because he snatches double of what I can clean and jerk.

  • i tried to snatch the bar with 70 lbs on the other day, I can easily deadlift 405 lbs, but I couldnt snatch miserable 105 lbs, I lack technique and explosiveness

  • amazing lift, good job

  • As always, impressive feats being posted by the Average Bros. I can't tell what kind of straps Pat are using here so I'll ask the question:

Do you prefer the one-piece straps (just a piece of leather/cotton), or the ones that have a sewn loop? Never liked the second one myself, feels like it could latch on if I wanted to drop the weight.

  • @TrueRahf I made my own and gave them to all the lifters here. they are closer to the first ones that you mentioned, but not exactly.

  • @BROZKNOWS Now I'm guessing they're closer to complete loops, but wrapped like the single-length straps.

Either way, keep up the good work!

  • that doesnt look safe what so ever

  • @adamskyb It's not, but it's fun.

  • Ur speed under the bar is crazy :O

  • fuck cheap gyms in mexico (and the US) we dont have bumper plates, I just one some cheap not calibrated bumper plates. I hate throwing those iron ivanko plates, everyone stares at me. Iron plates should be illegal.

  • like a bowss

  • Comment removed

  • @wwtdd1 HA-HA-HA-HA!! *wipe tears of laughter away* You will be after trying to snatch 225 for 3 years and still can't. Next, there are GIRLS, under 16, that weigh 50 pounds LESS than you that out lift you!

Just so you know... 400# Snatch has only been done by about 7 Americans in history...EVER. Guess we should recruit more cyclists since you seem to be so athletically superior.

Btw, I had a bike, and it was very easy for me to ride fast in a circle...then I grew up. No offense taken.

  • @BROZKNOWS what did the guy say I'm curious. your comments always deliver big time haha.

  • @slimjamie1991 something like "I weigh 175 and snatch 185. If I snatch 225 it's like the same as Pat doing 400. Not impressed" He was a sprint bicyclist.

  • I officially feel weak as shit now thanks a lot asshole.

  • Crazy strength. The snatch is serious business. Good job dude.

    Peace

  • Makes my lifts look pretty pathetic!!! Oh and Dylan Tapes....... Beat it you hump! You know nothing about true weightlifting! Save your comments for the video of the Jersey Shore loser pumping bicep curls and blowing himself kisses in the mirror!

  • thats disgustingly strong...

  • i dont understand the point of snatches besides just displaying a feat of strength, out of cleans/squats/bench its the least applicable to sports or any real like application.

  • @slashrulesslither hahaha.

  • @slashrulesslither Olympic lifts ARE the most applicable of all lifts... I would rather have a 400 pound snatch than any weight of any other lift

  • @slashrulesslither Quick History lesson for you...

Prior to 1972 there were 3 competition lifts: clean&press;snatch;clean&jerk. They were chosen for 3 very different reasons. The C/P was for 'strong' guys, the 'snatch' was for 'athletic' and the C/J was for a bit of both. The Snatch favored quick, flexible, powerful athletic types, where the Clean& Press was more of a brute strength lift. Whoever did the best in all 3 won the meet. best overall athlete. Bench? LOL.

  • @BROZKNOWS well said Sensei ;-)

    no joke really ood xD

  • @slashrulesslither - The movement does seem odd initially, but both the snatch and C&J are sports applicable due to the combination of power production, and neuaraoogical/musclar recruitment. Both are full body movements, both have elicit strong neurological adaptions to help recruit more muscle fiber much more quickly to produce power, and helps build strength on a biological level (you actually grow muscle). Also, it teaches an athlete to use their legs, hips, and back as a unit. There fun too

  • @slashrulesslither yea, the snatch doesnt apply to anything except for jumping, sprinting, full body explosive strength, balance and flexibility. thats all. MORON

  • @slashrulesslither that is why you fail

  • i couldent see anything more dangrous than this

  • @DylanTapes how about a bench press? been a few people die from that, but never from a snatch.

  • the camera shook when you dropped the weights...You are a badass.

  • if hes american, why use kg on his lifts?

  • @1080famous Because when he goes to London next year and snatches 216, they'll be counting it in kilos.

  • @1080famous olympic lifting is an international sport, so they go by kilos it has always been that way

  • Hossein Reza Zadeh better watch out....

  • @TurboLemur5000 I believe he's (Hossein) retired, but his predecessor is just like him, but he's banned for competing for a certain period of time for roids. I'm not sure if he'll be there for the 2012 Olympics

  • @mustCBasis

    You mean his successor.

  • How the hell did he lift that.I couldn't lift one end off the floor.

  • Will he compete in London 2012?

  • Its probably with HGH and roids, but i dont blame you cause everyone does it

  • @Schnitzelfreaks wow ur so dum......u know its actually very possible and it hsppens all the time thst people achieve things like this go get a life

  • and i thought my girlfriend had a big snatch...

  • wow this guys strong

  • This guy should be in the Olympics.

  • @achang34

Yeah, he should be there! It´s so strong and impressive

  • This guy drinks gorilla's milk !!!

  • @rafaleles You mean, gorillas drink HIS milk !!!

  • holy fuckin bejesus

  • i just want those bouncy weight plates.

  • Beast :D

  • that is some explosive power

  • HUGE!

  • 0:26 he could of hurt his bakc because of the swing no?

  • @QCJTF2QC

With bad form perhaps. Snatch is dangerous if you don't have excellent form. With good form, it is a great strength builder for your whole body. He looks solid during his lift.

  • @QCJTF2QC you can hurt your back playing a bitch "sport" like bowling. just gotta train raw and perfect form is all. if you need a weight belt and gloves, youre not training realistically and beyond your means. just gotta work up to the stress levels of your aspirations patiently and consistently.

  • What a hulk

  • high school junior or college junior because there is a big ass difference

  • @cfb36 "junior" for the sport of Weightlifting is not a school thing, but an age thing. It is the year of your 20th birthday or before.

  • Great work Pat. Dude, you were faster on the 182.5 than you were on the lighter lift. Monster

  • wow awesome

  • Can someone explain to me what's with the weird numbers like 402#? Why not 400 or 405?

  • @homernukem conversion from Kilo to Pound

  • @BROZKNOWS why do you all use kg's I thought Americans used lbs?

  • @BotActionAndy because internationally they use kg.

  • that is insane...i felt good when maxed out at 190lbs lol

  • @kellz51 You should. That's not a bad lift haha. Mendes is a freak.

  • it must be so hard...

  • holy shit how'd i do that LOL

  • What's he putting up without straps? Just curious no criticism.

  • This guy's a beast.

  • this guy is goin to the top....good on u man keep it up

  • Totally sick...the kid's a beast!

  • What if dropped that on his foot D:

  • "holy shit" is right

  • hahaha sick! u strong damn bastard, very nice!

  • You don't use a belt?

  • @younglouisianaboy199 belts do more harm then good. They promote bad form and cause more injuries than they prevent.

  • has he ever been tested?

  • @eskieclunge For anabolics? It's not like it would prove anything. The kid is good because he works hard and is genetically blessed. As far as PED use, doesn't it just make him on par with everyone else in the super heavyweight class?

  • would you by any chance know a weight lifting coach by the name of scott sahli

  • explosive!!!!

  • he got the 180 easily. epic effort this kid will go places

  • explosif !!!good job

  • FAKE!!!

  • How old is he?

  • This is fucked! How can anybody do this??

  • @25877852 hard work

  • I love how the camera shakes at the end.

  • Hi, this kid is a beast. Broz, do you think the snatch is as useful an exercise for increasing vertical leap as say, power cleans or clean n jerk? Thanks.

  • he made the second one look easy, too.

  • how much does it cost to be trained like that? i mean i always wanted to do olympic lifts other than at a normal gym. where can i find a gym like that? and how much does it cost?

  • ........so y isnt this kid playing college football?

  • @MrMuffins1000 because he's smart? american handegg (aka football) is only good for fucking up your knee or your back. I used to work for a former pro (SF 49'er)--he was in constant pain.

  • @MrMuffins1000 it like wouldn't be fair.. hahaa

  • thank God powerlifting isn't my thing because if it was, after watching this video, I would uncontrollably spiral into a suicidal depression...

  • good lifting thought olympic lifting was dead in the usa, guess not.

  • junior looks like 30y/o man

  • Wish there was a gym like this where I live. All we have is a CrossFit with 3X a week O.L. classes. Would need a lot more time in than that to get proficient at it.

  • that's a big boy! he looks solid when receiving that bar. great stuff.

  • now THAT, is POWER

  • fucking beast

  • I can't believe how strong people can get :O

  • wow

  • makes that look like nothing

  • Very very fucking strong !!!!!!!!

  • Incredibly impressive. I can see him bringing some gold home in 2012.

  • Guys like these are the reason I quit bodybuilding and switched to Olympic WL. Bodybuilding is for weak-ass vaginas. Olympic weightlifting is the real deal. Thanks for providing motivation.

  • insane animal speed, damn!

  • Wow! Thats a sick lift..... yeeeeeehaaaaa :))

  • more!!

  • This guy must be competin at the next Olympics. Huge strength. He's a prodigy.

  • Is his snatch better than his C&J comparatively?

  • @TheRugbyidiot until his wrist injury heals, yes.

  • good on him

  • coach can you please convince this guy to go to the london games so the us can win back a little respect?

  • @acehead0987 Please I agree with acehead

  • @captainjosue

    consider it done

  • Amazing

  • His technique isn't strict, he can do alot more. He rips the bar off the floor and then lets it come in to his body... thats extra energy. You can tell thats not a max lift. I won't be suprised if we see 190kg+ in another video few months from now.

  • These lifts are very motivational for wl fans and participants, thanks for posting them and thanks for posting your thoughts in various other places.

  • let me ask you a question. Why doesnt Pat ever go to competitions because he would make the Olympic team easily

  • wtf this guy's insane

  • I couldn't even do a quarter of what this guy did for snatch.

  • strong, fast and technical. Awesome lift indeed!

  • very nice man!!! im more of a powerlifter myself... although i do clean and jerk my body weight... i have messed around with overhead squats before and i can really apreciate how impressive this is. GREAT JOB!!!

  • nice, usa is going to be a contender in weightlifting in the future because of this guy!

  • This is great. Looks like the US has got itself a new Shane Hamman. 19yo. How long has he been lifting?

  • at the time of the video 17 months

  • @BROZKNOWS 17 months of olympic lifting or 17 months of any sort of lifting?
