Your doing it wrong man. This is how you do it: Hold TV until all lights light up. Press the power button. MAKE SURE YOU POINT THE REMOTE DIRECTLY AT THE TV. Keep pressing up until your TV turns off. Press POUND to lock in the code.

Doesn't work with GPX TVs. Asking about creating a code for a GPX TV makes the Dish folks heads explode. Forget it. GPX doesn't seem to care and don't plan to create a universal code any time soon.

i'm a dish tech agent and you're doing it wrong my dear!:)

in order for you to prog the remote to the tv.

you need to press the tv button til all 4 button on top light up, you need to enter the 3 digit code for your tv (you could get the code at the dish manual OR call dish 1-800-333-DISH and ask for the code for your tv) then press the # button, and the tv button should blink 3x.

the remote should work for the vol&power of your tv..:)

what your doing MIGHT work, but it's NOT a guarantee sweety!

I tried this for about a half hour doing it over and over again, up and down, and it never worked. Through lots of Google searches, I found one that worked for me. Try this if the video one doesnt work.

Make sure that the TV is on.

Press the clear colored TV button at the top of the remote and hold it down until all of the lights on the remote light up.

*Press the big Power button.

*Press the channel up button repeatedly until the TV turns off.

*Press the "#" button once you found one that works

Thanks kid! I just bought an LG 50" and was unsure that this would work sure enough the second method worked for me.

Just make sure next time you remind people to press the # pound sign on the bottom right after your TV turns off to fix the signal in that spot. I spent a couple of minutes being confused as to what was going on and turning the TV on/off numerous times so everyone else beware of that. Great vid!

The dish remote will NOT work with one of my TVs. It is a 27" Magnavox with VCR/DVD player. It's really a crap TV. You can't get a universal to work with it.
