@LeBigMoneyShow I've heard that guards will do that for money. I was looking into being a prison guard a few years back; and they only start out at like $12 or $13 an hour. Not very much considering all the BS and stress you have to put up with.

The fact that the immates had access to drugs, booze, sex changing hormones and one hell of a good time caused a major scandle within the prison system. The video of Speck in prison remains one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen, on many levels. Obviously, Speck's apperance/activities are horrific. But more than that, what in the world is going on in that prison where inmates just hang out, do drugs, have sex, make videos, etc.??? And where are they? It doesn't look like they're inside a cell.
Also, I don't buy the psychiatrist's explanation that Speck was punishing himself by becoming a female-ish prison prostitute. Speck did all those things to prevent being murdered, not out of any sense of guilt.

By then, he had grown tired of this grotesque existence but knowing that he would probably never be paroled, this was the only way he could finally "escape" his fate. It may have been coincidence, but just before he died, he actively starting working towards a parole. This leads me to believe that he finally wanted out.
He wasn't all that bright. He didn't look at life the same way the rest of us do. Probably the best time he ever had (except for the murder spree). Should'a given him the death sentence.
Just before he died, I remember hearing on TV that Speck wanted to be paroled. So he may not have been having as much "fun" as he claimed in the video. It could be that, as he was getting older, the other inmates stopped finding him "desirable" Let's face it, he was almost 50 and losing his "appeal". And that may have meant that he was not getting as many goodies as he was before. Prison may have finally lost its appeal to him.
i think he just said that he liked it on the video because it was better than saying in front of the men who dominated him that he hated it there. he was just going along with it.

Bottomline is I remember seeing that video on the net 10 yrs ago or so and was shocked I didn't know the full story and I'm somewhat relieved to know that it was all peaches and cream for him. If I were a member of one of the victims families I think I would rather have him live this deeply disturbing, sad life that he experienced than a quick death of some sort enforced by the law. Just like the retired prison guard said, in a creepy way it brought more justice than execution and punished Speck in one of the worst ways possible. This former wannabe bad ass was resorted to a pathetic sex slave and gave up every ounce of pride and dignity that he had. Terrible life to live.

I am old enough to remember Bill Curtis breaking this story. The fact that the immates had access to drugs, booze, sex changing hormones and one hell of a good time caused a major scandle within the prison system. The backlash against the prison officals from the guards and warden on up made international news, lawsuits, firings, suspensions and elected officals being replaced, and rightly so.

The video of Speck in prison remains one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen, on many levels. Obviously, Speck's apperance/activities are horrific. But more than that, what in the world is going on in that prison where inmates just hang out, do drugs, have sex, make videos, etc.??? And where are they? It doesn't look like they're inside a cell.

One more thing, given all the crap that was being smuggled into that prison, I have always wondered if he didn't take sth to induce a heart attack, thereby committing suicide. By then, he had grown tired of this grotesque existence but knowing that he would probably never be paroled, this was the only way he could finally "escape" his fate. It may have been coincidence, but just before he died, he actively starting working towards a parole. This leads me to believe that he finally wanted out.

Just before he died, I remember hearing on TV that Speck wanted to be paroled. So he may not have been having as much "fun" as he claimed in the video. It could be that, as he was getting older, the other inmates stopped finding him "desirable" Let's face it, he was almost 50 and losing his "appeal". And that may have meant that he was not getting as many goodies as he was before. Prison may have finally lost its appeal to him.
