It soooo pretty, I love the different types of things, stamps , paint, and everything else, it just seems to me that what your doing is just too much work and too nice to put into a book like this, and just set aside, I know you'll look at it and all, I don't know, too much work, you should make your art on better paper that will be able to be displayed or something, Beautiful I must say. Two questions! (:

Won't the paper warp when it dries?

When your painting, can it bleed through and mess up other pages?

@EmmyGurl523 If the paper is thick enough, it won't bleed through or warp :) also, Some paint might slip from one edge of the paper onto the other page..but to avoid that you can just slip in some parchment paper in between the pages :) Hope that helps

@TheBlondiesNr1 Its basically a primer to use to cover up an already used page so that you can start fresh and new :) You could always use white paint though. Also, if the paper isn't white already, I would use either gesso or white paint and put a layer of that down first...because that way whatever you paint next will be nice and bright instead of being dulled down by whatever the color was before :)

@yaxxu Its thick paper that was in a day planner. You can paint on anything but its better to have thick paper than thin because if its too thin, it will bubble up or crinkle :)

@cheapcharlie13 Gesso is basically a primer but you can use white paint because it generally has the same effect :) The reason I use gesso (or white paint) is because the journal I have is actually a day planner that I found in a thrift shop. It has writing and other things on the pages already so I use the gesso to cover that up before I start doing my own thing. That way the old stuff doesnt show through. Its like starting on a clean canvas :) Hope that helps

This demo intrigues me. I have watercolor crayons, but what "Gesso" would I use? I have some "Golden Gessos & Grounds" which says "an all acrylic ground......for adhesion of acrylic and oil paints" Can I use this for the above? Thanks

@polarbowl1 The container should say white gesso on the label. If you cannot find gesso, you could always use a thin layer of white paint :)

@Julesrules05 It is tons of fun, you should definitely try it! Gesso is a primer that you can use to prime the surface of your painting before you start painting. Helps to brighten the colors of the paint. You could also use white paint instead if you need a cheaper alternative :)

I have watched 3 of these art journal videos and I have to say this is one trend I just don't get. Seems like there is just one solid rule - keep covering up what you do with more and more layers of slop.

@Dix994 Lol, to each their own. No one is forcing you to watch these videos. People add layers in order to add dimension, texture and personality to their work. Sometimes they cover things up or add more 'slop' because what they did previously didn't match whatever emotion they're trying to express. I suspect you don't understand because you have never tried it. Even if it doesn't look good, it is a great way to express yourself. Have a good day :)

well, one thing is for sure, judging by the videos on this, you all do the same exact thing. And no, I have never tried it. I have sketchbooks, but I generally draw from life. But I did do this sort of thing in highschool, on bookcovers and all.

You are welcome :) The alcohol is one of my favorite things to use...it leaves such an interesting effect. Just make sure that you use it when the paint is still wet or else it wont work

Aw, youre welcome :) Glad I could inspire you. One thing to remember about the rubbing alcohol is that you have to drop it on the paint while the paint is still wet, otherwise it wont work. Have fun with the little kiddies! :) What an awesome job you have

Its an antiseptic and would be in the aisle of the store along with things like hydrogen peroxide, first aid stuff or other medications. its real name is isopropyl alcohol. i hope you can find it and i hope this helped :) have a good day
