  • Billyy Ray Cyrus is that you dawg ?? ;)))))))

  • The Cambodian and the genocide, our king wills it.Sihanouk is a communist.Love your hat Cowboy !!

  • Why do people visit a mass death camp? I think it say something about death camps being of interest. More people go here to look at Walls with history that is thankfully no longer functioning but empty rooms of death. People love visiting these sad sights. Bizzare. Go look at art history or nature it's much more interesting than cruel human nature.

  • i like this video, it makes you think, people just know about big countries history and it's bad moments, they just forget about small or simply isolated countries..

  • Good video.

I have seen footage of this museum on a few different TV shows, but it is interesting to see it from a more personal perspective.

  • I visited there when I was a uni student.

Actually I hadn't known much about there so it was so shocked.

I do remember that moment clearly...

It was very orange sunset time and smelled green from the rice field around.

  • Your translator is from Cambodian to Japanese lol

  • That looks like eerie place. It gives me pretty confusing feeling to see a torture camp in one of the most loveable places I know.

This gave me a good reason to start learning about the incidents history as I've not ever heard about it before. Thank you and keep 'em coming! ^^

  • You were in Cambodia? I agree its a very lovable place!

  • Thanks for sharing this. Another hard thing to remember. But we have to. We have to stay on top of how it plays out again.

  • Yeah, sadly we always want to think these things are in the past. And then there they are again and again.

  • that's really sad... utopic agrarian societies scare me. good to see that things are changing there.

  • The only way there will ever be any sort of utopian society is if it comes from the grassroots upward instead of being imposed from powerful center

  • It' s sad to believe not only has something like this happened before, but could happen again, and again.

  • The same point hit me as well. Rwanda wasn't so long ago and there is similar stuff going on in Africa right now.

  • You should check out a film called "The Killing Fields" if you haven't already. It's a film about...well...the killing fields in Cambodia. My parents told me that that was basically what kind of environment they grew up in

  • Yeah, I saw while I was there. Very good film. You are in the States now?

  • Yeah, I was born and raised here (US). I'm 1st Generation. My parents have brought me to Cambodia a couple of times though.

  • So you're Russian?

  • Well, sort of I guess. Have you ever heard of the Volga Germans, aka Mennonites? My grandpa was one of those. Chased out by the Anarchists, but lived by the Dniepr river for 200 years before that.

  • Yep. Nice hat btw ;)

  • Agh! Again with the hat!!

  • Great vid. Slightly off topic- it isn't the hat so much as the ribbon around the hat.

Reminds me of some of the Rwanda Genocide sites- only there are no bones.

I've been listening the the BBC Worldservice that they have been discussing the current gov't taking poor people's land and giving it to their friends. Was anyone talking about this in Cambodia?

  • Oh you people with the hat!!! :-)

It's not ribbon!! It's a genuine Khmer scarf, and everybody wears them... ok, perhaps not on their cowboy hats. But all about the fusion like that :-)

I didn't hear anything about that. I was fairly isolated out tin the country for most of the time though, and not well in touch with news sources. i will be asking about it now though.

  • The Americans with all their altruistic proselytizing didn't life a finger for the Cambodians - The so-called Evil Commie Vietnamese came to their rescue!

  • In fact, Heinz Kissinger & Nixon had American soldiers dress up as Vietnamese soldiers; then blow up a Cambodian Airport & kill many Cambodians in an attempt to blame the Vietnamese

(refer to the YouTube video interviews of CIA defector Chip Tatum)

  • Yeah, and even worse, Nixon secretly bombed Cambodia without the approval of Congress, killing many innocent Cambodians. There's lots of reason for us in the west to feel like we have a sort of an obligation to help out rebuilding there.

  • Iraq was sold to the public on a pack of lies - The result was the death of over 1 million Iraqis: 500,000 of which were children whose only crime was being born at the wrong place at the wrong time!

The Downing Street Memo proves it was a scam to make profits for Halliburton, Raytheon & cap Iraq oil wells to please the Saudis!

  • Intellectual genocide & slavery are part of the American life - It's the same thing, (just more civilized in appearance)

Humans are frightened monkey's that can't help but throw feces at each other

That is the way it has always been; and the way it always will be!

Life is a nightmare upon which we cannot awake - Only death is no trouble!

  • I can understand this feeling and go there in my head at times as well. But ultimately I think there is reason for more hope than only this.

  • *stares at the hat*

I'm sorry what did you say?

I just don't understand why people think they have to kill so many people in an attempt to stay in "power" or in "control". Power and control are illusions. It makes me so very sad that people like that could even exist.

  • C'mon you love the hat! In fact I'm bringing one back for you next time!

And yeah, the paranoia of Pol Pot is something I find it hard to get past. How is it that nuts like this are able to rise to such powerful positions?

  • If you bring one back, I promise to wear it!

    :D
