wake up. their hands are right in front of you. tune to 'new standard tuning' (thickest string tuned to C, tune each string in 5ths except for the thinnest string, which is a minor third- AKA C,G,D,A,E,G. you may want a lighter gauge high E string and a thicker gauge low E) and start using those lookin-balls. tabs hinder musicians! please learn to use your given senses for music.

why? for encouraging people to actually pay attention to what they see and hear in musical arrangements? music is a language. when someone says a word you've never said before, do you ask other people how to move your tongue to make the same word? no. you just figure it out. once you start treating music the same way you'll be a better musician than you ever imagined.

It's nice that you encourage people to tab...but some people don't have the time, that's why I like tabbing pieces for others, helps me and them.

haha wait! i'm trying to encourage people to DROP tabs altogether! i think in the beginning tabs are just as useful as sheet music or playing by ear/eye. but tabs become a crutch VERY fast. sheet music helps with theory and all that brainy stuff, but using sight and sound helps one see music as a language, and makes 'speaking' musically with others and improvising MUCH easier. see what i mean?

Sorta, but what I'm getting at, is making tabs is good ear training. And how do people tab? They recognize different scales/arpeggios/chords and how can you learn that fast, looking at tabs and associate different sounds with different note patterns. Tabs are not a bad thing if used properly.
