  • Fantastic version of this marvellous song. Thank you for performing and posting - to whom it may concern.

  • @michelstrogoff99 I must post this today: 11-11-11 in memory of that day long ago when at 11:00 a.m. the guns fell silent in Europe and around the world but only for a short time--will they ever fall silent again and this time for good?

  • It's no less than an pure insult against Eric Bogle and to all those who fell in the War to lable this song a parody, as fun and as a spoof. Nor is it an Irish song. Eric is a Scottish Australian, and not all of the W. McBrides identified in the war were Irish. Granted, a lot of them were, but not all.

  • @Domitianvs How is this a parody?

  • @alwayswinit4real If you look at the info about the clip, you'll see it is tagged as being a "spoof", a "parody", "pranks" and so on.

  • @Domitianvs That's bizarre. Not a subject to parody... weird.

  • The awesomeness of the performance of the music is matched only by the incredible richness of your photographic selections to illustrate the songs.

    Outstanding.

You realize this song could NEVER be played on any mainstream station tv or radio in USA?

  • @RPenta thanks alot that comment was very kind cheers

  • Who really cares whether the song was really about a specific person, or where he came from. It is a song which words are important. Believe me, from a 69-years-old woman who has had to live through too many wars, the last verse is the one that really gets to me. So for the fussy buds who want purity in who did what and where, it's the song, stupid.

I like it by Celtic Thunder.

  • the song was neither written by an irishman nor is about an irish soldier.

it was written by a scottsman who was raised in australia, and where willie mcbride actually was from isn't mentioned in the song.

  • that maybe the case yet its still a great song. seeing that many of the fallin were also irish in this conflict its a fitting tribute to them as well.

  • @ohnemetalisallesdoof no man's land by eric bogle. the fury's are the original song robbing boy band.

  • nice tribute to the forgotten Irish who fought and died in their thousands for the freedom of small nations.

  • @mealy777 try all the forgotten...wether they could be named or they had a name but nary a family to mourn them...

  • @mealy777 This is an anti-war song or weren't you listening?

  • The writer was Scottish I am sure this song was about anyone in particular, Eric Bogel is a peace campaigner and I think the song was written to give us an insight into the many men in WW1 who were merely cannon foder in a pointless war..

What a great song anyway.. God rest Harry Patch

  • I just love this version, the pictures are very moving.Thank you for sharing this tribute. May those men never be forgotten.
