Aw this is the song that found me Sinead O'Connor. I forgot why i found her then i accidentally came upon this song again. Cant wait to get the original i heard.
Frankly, I have no idea whether Sinead was abused. I just try to keep an open mind about it. Why did she wait until after her mother died before going public with it? Now her mother is not around to defend herself.
@hoochee003 I know that Sinead is telling the truth about her childhood cos \i know her brother says the exact same thing, he is a great famous writer and she is a great famous writer, why lie?
@hoochee003 What's your persistence about??????? Did anyone notice the "Horror House" in Dalkey where all those children, ie Cindy and her siblings were abused and grandchildren/babies killed with knitting needles in the back garden???????
@rosemarymclaughlin I'm not being persistent. I am just responding to your posts. I know Sinead's neighbours. When she was growing up, they saw nothing. She interacted with them but never complained to them. She never mentioned abuse until after her mother conveniently died in 1985. In the UK, we are innocent until proved guilty, including her mum. I know of no real evidence that Sinead has put forward of having been abused. Where are the doctor's records? Teacher's records? Impartial witnesses?
@hoochee003 Its clear that you dont know anything about abuse. Not all abused children would go out and complain about what's happening. And didnt her father gained custody rights of them after the court's decision that the mother was unfit?
@hoochee003 I repeat : Did anyone notice the "Horror House" in Dalkey where all those children, ie Cindy and her siblings were abused and grandchildren/babies killed with knitting needles in the back garden???????
Lots of children often did report abuse but were never listened to......that's the way it was in Ireland and still is .....and in England too or the UK or USA etc where children in care and under so-called investigation are killed by the parents/ fosterparents/guardians...
@rosemarymclaughlin I was good friends with a paranoid schizophrenic at a psychiatric institution where I volunteered, but that does not mean I entered into his delusion about a carpenter in the bushes saying he raped his mother.
@hoochee003 Just hear her words and you will feel her pain and her joy. She was abused Just hear her songs. That is all the " Impartial witnesses" that I need. God Bless you Sinead and take care of you.
...simply beautiful.. I bought this for my mum when it came out. She never knew her mother - given away at birth and lived in orphanages until her 16th birthday. This song was much more than a gift to my mum xx
Her mother died in cancer....(nothing compares to you),shes singing it deep from her heart....makes me cry and love my mother even more and much more....thanx Sinead you are an angel
I am sorry about your mother. My own mother is alive but she has never mothered me. I was told by my therapist to listen to this song: God can be all to us and we can find within us an ability to mother ourselves. BUt to replace a mother, I don't think its possible.
@zabyjaku Sinead's mother died in a car crash in 1984.This song is so gorgeous,it takes a hard heart not to be moved by this.Motherless children such as myself love it especially.Thank you Sinead.
@zabyjaku Sinead's mother died in a car crash in 1984.This song is so gorgeous,it takes a hard heart not to be moved by this.Motherless children such as myself love it especially.Sinead has said many times that the tear in the NC2U video was genuine, she was thinking about her mother.Sorry to remember the abuse that her mother raised her with.Thank you Sinead.
Stunning! My 23 month old daughter has been listening to Sinead since she was a newborn. We put a Sinead CD on in the evening and she calms down and listens to the angelic voice of Sinead and drifts off to blissful sleep.
yes this is on the Gospel Oak EP available on CD format but out of print, at least where I live but I have seen it in non-chain stores regularly. Recomend that you pick it up.

This has to be one of my most favorite songs ever...so deeply moving, insightful, Sinead sees in to the soul as well as the heart.

I knew her neighbour in Ireland. All that nonsense about being an abused child was just for PR. They were a loving family.

@rosemarymclaughlin Lying is a public relations ploy. It creates publicity and sympathy. It is part of the brand identity of the artist.

Why do the three other sisters and father deny that the house of horrors even existed? Cynthia may be imagining most of it.
