Okay I'm a bowler. I'm not sure how candlepin bowling works, but a 136 game in bowling is crap :P Don't flame me, I'm just not sure how candlepin bowling works. And how the difference is so huge ._.
@yukizrox 136 in candlepin is actually a really good score. Anything over 100 is good. 130 is really good. 150 and up is exceptional. I bowl twice a week in leagues all year round, and I'm lucky if have one or two 150 strings a year.
Lol, I went bowling today, but when I arrived to the place I saw this thin pins and freaked out! I had never seen something like that, I was expecting to play normal bowling, but I have only one month left to here and glad I had a different experience living in Massachussets, we don´t have that kind of bowling in Mexico. By the way is very hard :P
Didn't know that center had the last version and the fastest version of the Bowl-Mor candlepin machine the model D. Interesting that some houses in Massachusetts have them, I thought we all had the slower older model C like we have in Agawam, Massachusetts.
And with the foot pointing straight at the headpin, this will let you have better footing, which will lead to more control over where the ball goes, thus bringing the scores up.
Might I suggest a pair of shoes of your own? This will help one thing in your approach, that being your footing. It looks like each time you slide, that your left foot is pointing dead right, and because of that loss of footing, your right foot is kicking so far back that it is almost crossing the foul line. With "right-handed" shoes, you won't have a slider on the right shoe. This SHOULD prevent your right foot from kicking that far over, and it should keep your left foot pointing straight.
I have to know, Wolf. Since there is no candlepin in Oklahoma, how different is your approach and overall style when throwing a 3lb ball in candlepin to up to 16lb for 10-pin?
Gotcha. Doesn't the higher backswing throw off your timing to the foul line? Since you do both kinds of bowling, it would seem to me you'd need a few frames to get used to the differences.
Hey, im just curious. I'm an 82-30 pin setter mechanic my self, so I have quite a bit of knowledge about lane set up, etc. It looks like this was an old bowling center that was then filled with candle pin machines? Just curious, i didn't think a full on bowling lane was used for candle pin, i thought it would be somewhat similar to 9-pin bowling.
I love Lafayette, it's bowling the way it should be and it hasn't changed much since I started going there fifteen or twenty years ago. Nice bowling Wolf.
Lafayette Lanes.... Tough house! 136 there is excellent.

Not much different, I take 4 steps for both Candlepin and Ten Pin, but my backswing is much higher when throwing a Candlepin bowling ball.

This center has been Candlepin from day 1, and is actually one of the oldest centers still going strong. :)

Is there a bar on that level where the lanes are? And is there a gym on the bottom floor to Lafayette?

this makes me miss Candlepin SO much...whats your high string/triple (MA language ftw)? I ALMOST broke a 400 triple once. Best string is in the 150s.
