  • And as far as "it's not that impressive what you can buy with money," amazingly full of shit. The man probably doesn't know how to enjoy the plethora of things he can buy, for example first class plane tickets, because he feels so guilty for being rich, which is actually a sickness. Fancy clothes, personal attendants, a private jet, a garage full of sports cars, multiple mansions in multiple climates, a nice secluded house on a huge piece of undeveloped land? Money can buy plenty of happiness.

  • Capitalizing banks doesn't create jobs? Because when you put your money in a savings account, that's what you're doing. When you put a few million dollars, obviously in a special kind of account which pays higher interest because it's especially useful to the bank, you're making a huge difference. Of course donating to schools and libraries and recreation centers etc. is also a great way to make yourself happy, by influencing the society you live in for the better, but it's not the only way.

  • that's where Obama spent taxpayers money on, stupid campaign ads.. Ron Paul.. in fact, anyone 2012 except Obama just because i don't care for him.

  • Charles Feeney, I have like the same mentality as him. Where I don't need a lot of money were i can live comfortably then after that the stuff I have is just more expensive but my life style really hasn't changed, so whats the point.

  • great story

  • nice guy

  • FEENEY!!!

FE FE FE FE FE FEENEY!!!

    FEEEEENEEEY!!!!!

    lolz ^_^

  • Fuck the warm nuts......plenty sitting in coach to keep you company on the same shitty flight.

  • That shirt she is wearing is the best one she has by far. Her tits are on point.

  • Hehe warm nuts :D

  • Every person who thinks Cenk doesn't have money is a fucking fool.

  • No, actually, leaving a shit load of money in the bank DOES create jobs in that it is capital for the banks that they can loan against. This is a major reason why China is taking off. Because so many of them are savers, hence banks make more loans. Not living on credit.

  • She loves warm nuts... She can have mine. And a pickle to go with it.

  • @justcallmeassinine good call, lol, total brain fart

  • @spo0ons Farts are healthy. Those odds are very much like winning the power ball,BTW. Slim and none.

  • my alma mater!

  • i didnt say trading stocks. when you hold stock that is an investment in that company. when a company needs to raise capital the can offer stocks. he never said anything about trading and neither did i.

  • this video is why i cant take cenk seriously on any economic issues. he says that if rich people want to keep their money in the bank that it does nothing for the economy. whether you have it in the bank where the bank lends it out, whether you have it in stocks where the company invests it or whether you spend it. they are all being used to create jobs.

  • @howdydoodie1111 Trading stocks doesn't help companies. Once they complete the offering, buying shares from someone else is just a poker game.

  • @howdydoodie1111 jobs where? when? whereas the particular type of charity in question, if tied to infrastructure projects, might be a good SOP imo because by all accounts the Us of A really needs it, and they potentially take the donor out of the picture and reduce effort/risk/ethics disincentive

  • @howdydoodie1111 Also, just a short while back, what loans? As opposed to mortgages I mean.

  • thats huge.

  • If he had been taxed at the old rate of 70%, he wouldn't have been able to do that... Go Bush Tax cuts!

  • That man has a good heart but he shoulda gave the money to poor struggling familys not a hungry thirst unerversity who wants money

  • @itsallboutcrossfire fuck the poor. it would just go to lazy niggers.

  • Unimpressed with what wealth can buy you?

    You are doing it wrong...

Spend it on charity and use the rest to travel the world, see and learn all you can about it.

  • big ups to charles for sharing the wealth, but if you ask me that money would of greatly been more suited for the poor instead of a money hungry university

  • How many jobs could that money have created? Here is more proof that rich people do not create jobs.

  • 75,000 a year? hardly make 15,000

  • I'm glad this guy is giving my school some good rep! I have some awesome shoes to fill:)

  • Sounds like Ana is pitching an idea of a salary raise to Cenk haha, she wants that money!

  • He probably doesn't like the people around him in first class..

  • Reminds me of the Yankees... They spend money to win titles unlike smaller markers like Houston or Kansas City where they put their money in their pocket and keep it inside and then they wonder why the Yankees and Boston and Philadelphia always win titles

  • See, the rich DO have souls!

  • Comment removed

  • There are two types of wealth - wealth generated by production of goods and/or services, and politically produced (stolen) wealth.

  • if a rich person uses their money they make jobs, if they dont, it does not, and if it is taken it taxes it creates waste. only one of these three is good for the economy and society.

  • If all rich people were like this guy, THEN THE WORLD ECONOMY WOULD BE IN A MUCH BETTER SHAPE.

  • Wonder what he's getting in return? Brings Sandusky to mind, sick.

  • @missnoorulain1 Well miss grinch ! Maybe he's a good person !There are still a few of those around ! Your comment was disgusting ! :(

  • $75,000? SHENANIGANS!!

  • The first i person i love!! God bless him and his family:) A REAL IDOL!!

  • TYT crew really needs to go back to college and take an economics course. They just have no clue about money.

"Typical Rich Bad Guy" Gezzz Get a Clue... This is just poor person talk. Haters are going to Hate.

  • @Joell5678

Geeezus Christ - u kno that Cenk is a lawyer from Cornell right? And that im sure he could have gotten a cushy corporate lawyer job if he wanted????!

  • @Joell5678 I was thinking the same thing but, they're not going to learn about money in college from some broke professor teaching it. You learn how to make money and flip it from wealthy ppl.

  • They have warm nuts? How the other half live!

  • minute 1:53 "tradable eating" ??? who is typing that shit?

  • I know I'm in no position to talk about it, especial because idk if I would be like him too, or that I will be corrupted.. but right now: I actually completely agree with him.

  • Money is like manure. You have to spread it around before it does any good. If you leave it in a big pile, it just gives off a bad smell.

  • @Bob1Mack nicely said.

  • @Bob1Mack LOL... that line sounds too clever for a random comment, is that from anything? :P

  • @OcularPolitics The show "Hello Dolly"

  • @Bob1Mack great quote

  • @Bob1Mack fuck off

  • @Bob1Mack

    brilliant, bro ...F-ing brilliant.

  • @treid100182

    Sorry, but I'm stealing it.

  • @Bob1Mack You're childish or stupid. Money on account "works". Banks lends that money to people creating jobs/enterprises. Of course central bank-based system makes these connections a bit harder to notice but they're still there and they're very important if you don't want your country to go Zimbabwe or Venezuela way.

  • @mootant I guess the phrase "marginal propensity to spend" is just random words to you, isn't it?

  • @Bob1Mack that's a Keynesian term and you haven't falsified what I said. Saving money DELAYS "consumption" to achieve higher consumption in the future. Let's oversimplify this situation: are you saying that 600M spent on factory is worse than 600M spent on wages and 600M spent on university?

  • Mr Feeny has donated money to Australian Universiities too.

  • Why did Ana say "Alum"...why leave out the "I"?

  • being poor is not just earning less, or not being able to buy luxury goods. it is having existential fear. taking that away would make so many people so happy. not much money needed, just the couple hundred bucks that you earned with your hard work. 6250 dollars a month to live comfortably is kind of rich from that perspective

  • @Obviouslyced Would you kindly elaborate on the term "existential" fear ? i take it to mean the fear of not surviving the next day as so many in the 3rd world do.

  • @justcallmeassinine i grew up in germany. i feel very lucky for having that privilege. i guess existential fear in my situation is very different from the fear for your life in developing countrys. im also very lucky to have a literate mother, who taught me, what really makes you rich as a person. later on that changed. we never had money, but our perception of wealth changed, when we did not have enough to buy provide for basic things, like clothing or vitamins.

  • @Obviouslyced Thank you for elaborating.Germans always sound self aware and never arrogant. I am half Japanese and German.Stay well and don't catch cold. What kind of hobbies or pastimes do you have ? PM me when you have the time.

  • There Cenk goes again using the "those of us" when referring to those without money. Cenk, your Dad's a successful business man who helped you financially obtain a law degree at Columbia University. You were once a GOP staffer and supporter who was anti union and pro business. You have your own business now, and by all accounts, you're doing well. I don't begrudge your success, but spare me your act of how you're part of the poor and destitute crowd. I'm not either, but I don't pretend to be.

  • @hofifut neither does he, but i never expect intelligence from haters.

He just says hes not rich. And to my knowledge hes not a multi-millionaire.

Well, maybe Al Gore is paying that much, but he sure isnt based on his own business.

    but haters will be haters.

To you I guess its poor and rich, and to him its rich and not rich.

  • Cenk drive like a mid 90's Pontiac. I don't think he's THAT rich.

  • @hofifut to be fair, Cenk has said he was really struggling in the begginning with the young turks. of course it was his own call, cause he could have just been a lawyer and made good money. but Im sure he nows what hes talking about when he talks about not having money. And Im sure hes pretty well off now too..

  • @hofifut zzzzzziiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg

  • @hofifut CENK IS PART OF THE 1 % ??? SAY IT AIN'T SO....NOOOOOOOO !!!!!

  • Bob Stollery from PCL in Canada had the same kind of heart, helped out a lot of sick kids, truely remarkable guy.

  • I shall dub thee "Robin (Doing something good in the) Hood" Kinda long middle name but shit atleast their some good? BTW, if you wanna get rid of your wealth...ill inbox my address ;-)

  • GOOD GUY.....THANK U FOR WHAT U HAVE DONE....

  • MR Feeney can you please lend me 5000 $ so i dont lose my home and cars ? please i have a 7 year old and am a single parent i did everything i could but lost my job im a broken man ,

  • Fucking communists in here. Why do you think everyone else should give away the money they earned ?

  • @MarcoBrolo Communist is not a generic word for everyone who isn't a capitalist, look up the meaning before throwing it around

  • @iseezapie Oh really ? Commies, Marxists, Progressives, Libs, Leftist Radical, whatever, your all the same. You all want to take from others to support yourselves and your BS programs that do nothing to benefit the country. You want to raise taxes on people who earn their money the right way. Your radical ideas are ruining the world, not only the USA.

  • @MarcoBrolo I'm going to enjoy driving around in your car and living in your house come the change of marxism. It is going to be great.

  • tell all the people who support extravagant life styles they are useless and shouldn't have a job providing the services and labor needed to make those lifestyles possible.

give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and feed him for life.

nobody can just 'keep' money, you must either spend it (employs people) or save it (provides capital for investment...or in other words employment.)

economics, like water, is very hard to control, and very unstable when you try.

  • So he gives a lot of money to a relatively rich school? Hmmmmm

  • Hollyshit... how awesome would it be to donate 600 million dollars... AND still have enough money to buy a football stadium?

  • somethin if fishy about this

  • So not only did he give an enormous amount of money to his alma mater, he did this anonymously? See, THIS is an example of rich people doing good things for society with their money.

  • Duty Free stores = fleecing rich people. You can get all that stuff cheaper anywhere else. The guy is like Robin Hood :-)

  • Feeny must be a good buddy of Warren Buffet & Bill Gates. Respect for guys like this.

  • I saw an episode of House about a guy like this.

  • You my friend is the nicest person I've seen in the whole 2011 year.

  • Cenk puts it perfectly. After you no longer stress about making ends meet then you don't need it anymore. The only reason why I would want more money after that is so I can buy gifts and do nice things for my friends and people around me, that's what I truly want to do if I ever make it big.

  • @artbytandy yes, and I vote to keep the government out of your business and let you keep what you earn.

Lets just hope Ron Paul gets elected so we can send a message that this country still rewards accomplishment and hard work.

by the way, be careful with gifts to your family...IRS thinks everything you own or give away belongs to them and should count as income for your family...give a 100,000 dollar house to your mom...IRS with want $28,000 from your mom now...trust me...

  • Oh what happened?!

I thought all rich people were evil and didn't have souls?!

I thought america was doomed because we were so selfish?

    What happened?

  • It's true, that's why I don't understand these billionaire bankers freaking out over taxes, you're already a billionaire, you never have to worry that you can't pay your bills, that you'll end up on the street, that you won't have food or water or any of that while the majority of us DO worry about that everyday now because you hoarded all the money. We just want to live without stressing every moment about how we're gonna make ends meet.

  • look up at the first vid responce. at least he didnt do that. . .

  • THIS does not make sense.

Republicans want payroll tax cut for one year.

Obama's payroll tax cut is only 2 months.

You are telling me Obama is the great president because of 2 months extension.

I think his supporters are as damn as dunkies.

  • Name one rich Bad guy in the US.

  • @megagagnon1 Obama?

  • YAAAY Charles Feeney!

  • Plus, look what it was spent on. Cornell? Again, I don't know the details of his business model and want to give the benefit of the doubt, but if the money came out of the pockets of working people and the net effect was to transfer it to Cornell's endowment, then I really don't think society was done any favors here on the whole.

  • These were the kinds of people I actually used to look up to, but at this point I'm actually skeptical as to whether there's any way to get to billions of dollars without hurting someone. Look at Steve Jobs and Chinese sweatshops. Even Bill Gates engaged in what I think were questionable, monopolistic business practices, and I say this as someone who really tends to side with Bill Gates on policy and whatnot.

  • Alot of people here are not necessarily "hating" this guy, but not really recognizing how great of thing he did here. Yes, he could have used the money to feed a bunch of children. Yes, that would be all nice and good. However, he decided to give back to the institution that helped facilitate his goals. He simply wants to help facilitate others reach those same standards of goals. Perhaps becuse of this donation, some student from Cornell will be able to solve the world famine problem.

  • with socialism (or a simple welfare state), every rich person would do this. by the way, the current government doesn't employ socialism or capitalism, so dont use the situation for bullshit. more gov is good, but it has to be an honest gov.

  • Comment removed

  • @14koder : there is no such thing as "honest" gov - just as there is no honest liar.

  • I survive on 1500$ a year

  • Why didn't he build a children's hospital? Or a school's in third world countries? They have nothing. He did do good but meh. Help the people that REALLY BADLY need to be helped

  • @TheRatchetkid how do u know if he hasnt? they are only reporting on this one donation. maybe he has done other donations to multiple causes.

  • @azmexican i doubt he donated 600 million in more than one occasion. That 600 million shouldn't have gone to only one cause, instead of only donating it to a already well of school, so much more could have been done with it. But i have no right to talk like this, its he's money and he should do whatever he wishes with it.

  • @TheRatchetkid He is contributing to a major university, universitys do research, research and breakthroughs in things like medical science help a lot more people in the long run than just donating money to a hospital would

  • @iseezapie ah..

  • @TheRatchetkid oh cry me a river... hes a capitalist, not jesus

  • @elendiel0101 shut up fool, i was just speaking my mind, i don't expect him to heal people and take the homeless into he's home, and stop war -__-'

  • Comment removed

  • @TheRatchetkid universities help everyone. they train future doctors, mental health professionals, engineers, scientists etc. think about what you say before you say it.

  • @BillKiernan Yeah Mr. Obvious, and all along i just thought universities we're buildings people go to to sit around and do nothing. But no, people go there to learn professions. Wow, i just learnt something today.... Yeah, the university was already doing good by itself, but still, as if you heard me saying what he did was wrong. -_-'

  • @TheRatchetkid but you took the time to criticize him for it. i'm willing to wager *you* do nada for anyone in third world countries.

  • @BillKiernan Yeah my home country in the Caribbean isn't well off. Every month we send something to family and friends to help them out, so yeah, in your face! You lost the 'wager' Am not an american born with a silver spoon up my ass.

  • @TheRatchetkid Ehh building a school in a third world country is like giving your money to someone who is going to die in a couple of days; it will do good for awhile, bu overall it will not do anything in the long run. A children's hospital on the other hand is a pretty good idea.

  • @Javis586 ahw dude that was mean.

  • @TheRatchetkid He created jobs, fuckwit.

  • @RichL123 Building schools and hospitals create jobs too, idiot. Thoy don't run themselves....

  • I don't get most rich people. if someone gave me 100 million dollars I would maybe be able to spend 15, maybe 20 million of it, save 10 million and give it to my kids as inheritance, but thats it. I mean all I would want is a big house, a fancy wardrobe, a nice luxury car or two and enough to live a lavish life. But c'mon, thats like at most 25 million dollars, what do rich people do with all that money.

  • Oh look he gave money to a university, anonymously, without bad intent, without earning it in a bad way, what's the problem?

  • HEY newsflash TYT, this guy wanted to be an Anonymous donor... THAT MEANS YOU SHOULDN"T BROADCAST NEWS OF HIS GIFT AROUND THE WORLD.

you know, for a reasonable and intelligent news program you guys often lack RESPECT for good people's wishes about privacy

  • @datawraith3080 he was already outed that's how they found out about his donation

  • @datawraith3080 Lol. SHUT UP. In caps.

  • @datawraith3080 ugh =_=

  • ive got warm nuts.

  • fuck first class

  • @MrReoNetro you must have never flown on it then.

  • @BillKiernan I've sat in the captains chair. In Europe barely anyone uses first-class. Why pay something like 3000 euro's for a flight if you can find it for 90 euro's as well. I mean I like traveling in style, but i'm not a thief of my own money.

  • @MrReoNetro "I've sat in the captains chair." whoa, i retract my statement then haha. i guess i was taken aback because to me, it's like the difference between riding on the orient express and riding on a nazi rail to a concentration camp. maybe it's different in europe but coach is horrible in the U.S. when i get off a plane flying first class, i feel refreshed and energized. when i get off a long coach flight i feel like i need to sleep for a day to recover

  • @BillKiernan On most flights here first and coach class have the same chairs and virtually the same legroom (is that an English word?). Indeed the second class in trains are like concentration camp transportation during rush hours... But when it gets too crammed we have the right to sit (in the always empty) first class. We also have more rights in terms of refunds and missed connections (we automatically get the next flight)

  • @BillKiernan There has been alot of discussion about removing all classes from train and airplaine transport in Europe, since the seats are all-ways empty and the second class is way too crammed

  • Rofl crony capitalism, what a joke.

    .

There is no such thing as crony capitalism, all forms of capitalism that has ever existed has been "crony".

  • @underbjorn

You dont know the definition of capitalism. Its sad.

  • @treysparker ---

Yes I do know many definitions for it, you haven o idea what you are talking about on the other hand and I doubt you have the slightest clue where the term "capitalism" or "crony capitalism" originates from. Sad.

  • You only need a certain amount of money to live a perfectly good life. People seem to forget that. Being rich doesn't make you any better or more important than others. At least it shouldn't do. And we all know that no one gets filthy rich without someone else doing the work to make them rich and the distribution of this wealth is extremely uneven in modern society, even with taxes to prevent it.

  • Hi im james

Im studying to be an architect but the college told us we need macs, im working but just about making ends meat and paying my tuition at the same time, my family arent what youd call rich so asking them for a grand isnt realistic, if you could just provide a fake name and fake email on this website, i will be given 50 cents for 'refering' someone, please all i need is a name and email from 2000 people, tinyurl . com / c73qgau

    Like so people can see

  • $75,000 is all we need to live comfortably? C'mon Anna.

Have any children? I hear they're expensive. Is your wife a cunt? I hear they're VERY expensive...ask Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods. Or the millions of other Men kicked out of their former homes paying alimony and child support (where courts don't enforce visitation). What about taxes? That $75K becomes $50K or less awful fast, and if you're living in Canada the taxmen are so far up your ass, faahgeetaboutitt.

  • I thought rich people had no soul no empathy or compassion? Just listen to this ignorant big nosed bitch Ana. "TYPICAL rich bad guy" Typical ignorant stereotyping class envy generating liberal bitch

  • Its funny, most wealthy people I know and grew up with are exactly like Charles Feeney.

  • Oh man, this is what really annoys me about TYT, oh look, it's someone who is rich and not a bad guy? Does that even exist? See the story about rich people having no souls. The generalizations like "the bankers", "the billionaires" this is class warfare.

  • @jackthealligator ---

No because in class warfare, the people drags the filthy scum out of their castles and shoot them out in the garden.

  • @rightwing52000 Um, its not the rich people, its corporations. And you know liberals and conservatives are on the same side right? Theyre BOTH voting for shit to restrict our speech like SOPA.

  • Comment removed

  • This billionare displayed what true CAPITALISM is! He wasnt getting money from shady deals, Because he invested and created jobs it benefited everybody. Todays form of capitalism is CHRONIE CAPITALISM

  • @Mistervillageboy blah blah crony capitalism so what? Even if you or the other people had access to such money, you wouldn't know what to do with it.

  • @Mistervillageboy

    You are so smart.

If you do not like capitalism, then you should not buy your PC and iphone.

Go to North Korea or Cuba. See how you like it.

  • @pgthinker007 Moron. It's not that we don't like capitalism. It's that we don't like the bullshit being called capitalism today, because it's not capitalism.

  • @stalker7d7

yes, bullshit capitalism is in Washington DC.

    Its manager is Mr. Obama:-)

  • @Mistervillageboy This guy donated his money.

He's part of the 'chronie capitalism' you talk about.

  • SAVINGS LEAD TO INVESTMENT

  • for a minute there I read as: "Billionaire donates $600 to..." I loled then and I lol now.

  • memes are the stupidest and most annoying part of youtube....
