If not, then that's my point. I understand the compact design, which is quite revolutionary since it fires a decent 5.56 AP Round, but the Bolt Catch could be difficult since it could be easily missed while pulling back. Though it's designed also for lefty's; I'm not sure just yet whether to go ahead and put a requisition order in...

@D3ADxFORTUN3 It probably lacks a bolt catch entirely, or the bolt catch only locks the bolt open and it has to be racked to cycle. I doubt it has an actual AR-15 style bolt paddle. Not really an issue for real steel or airsoft though, considering it's a PDW.

The gun has had its issues but with new tech its been pushed to be a main attraction.. coming from the game Battlefield 3 .. its been a main attraction to the populous now. It may have been postponed for many reasons.. but this year expect vamp ups from alot of guns that had issues before. I think its a nice gun tbh i love its low profile feel and with some specs id love to attach a mock silencer, prolly a red-dot or holo to it. very sexy.

@Excalibur01 The FN F2000 has a similar "transport" system, that moves the brass from the rear to the front. In early F2000 models, the system didnt work that good and caused casings to stuck and failure to extract. I guess/hope FN has fixed this issue and that Magpul wont have the same issues with their real PDR

The real steel PDR will never be produced. They gave up on the blueprints and sent them to PTS to reproduce. So this is based off of the failed blueprints of the real steel PDR.

The PDR is designed to be used by tank crews, vehicle operators, and other non-combat personnel that work in confined spaces where having a full-length weapon would interfere with standard tasks. Essentially, it is designed to fill the same role that the P90 was originally designed for. The PDR might have a slightly better chance due to using less... "controversial" ammunition, but it isn't intended to be an infantry weapon and never would be.

Its smaller and more widely for use in tight quarters with the same power as the M4.

@DarkKabut0 If its shorter, lighter, easier to maintain mechanically(maybe) and just as adaptable with similar hitting power, the only thing to debate is accuracy and capacity.

Going from a 14 inch barrel on the M4 to a ten inch will hurt that. But we do gain a weapon that's easier to use in close range environments.

I think an argument could be made for the PDR.

1) It is real, sort of. It's a prototype weapon designed by MagPul called the Personal Defense Rifle (hence PDR), it's in prototype stage but the concept may have already been shelved.

2) Best guess is that spent casings ride on a rail similar to the way the Kel-Tec RFB or FN 2000 operate.

Only issue i find would be hook up the mag release with the button... and safety button...wait the ejection button can be safety.

@olternaut that is the airsoft gun version of the Magpul PDW, and yeah thats based off a real weapon made by Magpul, its supposed to bridge carbines and SMG, the real gun uses 5.56 instead of having expensive exotic ammo like the FN P90.
