Absolutely glorious music by master Vivaldi! I strongly recommend those who like this particular war oratorio to listen in You Tube Romina Basso's interpretation. It utterly out of thos world.

So grand the beginning felt of Bach and Händel style but when whole strings started with trumpet and Guitar then Vivaldi styles back as usual but the choral performance with orchestra unusual indeed it's quite new, It's simply ''celebration'' for great occasion
The occasion being the victory of the Republic of Venice over the Turkish army, wich was occupying the island of Corfu until regained by the Venetians in 1716. To celebrate this occasion, Vivaldi composed this oratorium to be performed november of the same year in the Ospedale della Pietà. Some parts of the music remind me strongly of RV 609 "Laudate Jerusalem".
