@captainpunkrock69 Good question-it's all a matter of preference of course, but I've always used 12-53 or so (light) and recently switched up to 13-56 (medium)-they have a much fatter sound and as long as the action is nice and low on your guitar I don't think they're a lot more difficult to push around. But the low action is going to be very important regardless of string size.
@mskroos thanks, ill put mediums on because i always preferred thicker. Is there any kind of "Adjusting the action for dummies" stuff out there or would I have to take it in to be lowered?
dudes funny. hes says, "just a little disco feel," does some crazy random riff that would take me like a month to learn and just says "ya know, whatever..." haha 6:16-6:56
Any real guitar player that says he doesn't like this stuff...Is what they call "Intellectually Dishonest"...This one lesson just rearranged my thinking
@Gactivefy hand happen in relation to what happens in the left. If you already know Drifting, that tune "Knock on Wood" by Justin King is a step up in difficulty, but I'm pretty sure there are some decent tabs online and it follows the same practice principle. I had a conversation with a dude in Allentown, PA last night about this and we both agreed that the best thing you can do after that is write stuff that you can't play and then learn to play it!
@Gactivefy Well I'm not a huge fan of exercises-they're good for shred stuff (which I'm terrible at and maybe that's why....), but this style is really learned by learning a few tunes by other people and then writing your own. Now I know this song has become pretty cliche, but Drifting by Andy Mckee is a really good exercise in learning to do something relatively simple but different at the same time with your 2 hands. Take it 1 chord at a time and just figure out where things in the right

Would you say thicker or thinner strings are best for this?

Early on, Mark talks about power chords, and then later he talks about tapping 5th intervals on the 4th and second string ( at same fret).
Well, he really should have ties these two things together because power chords involve 5th interval.
