As far as i know Jan was around for Season 4 only during the first seven episodes, and then at the end for Mirror Image. Then Jan & John collaborated on some scores and some weeks Petersen did most of it by himself. Basically Jan gave him some of his sounds and samples, and also he was using some of Hammer's melodic themes and motives. I think John did a fantastic job mimicking Jan. In my opinion he would've been the perfect Jan's successor for season five!

It's funny that this was used in the episode "Heart of Darkness", yet Jan played it slightly different toward the end. I saw it on your channel as well. All versions are GREAT !! I was not a big fan of seasons 4 and 5 of Vice, but this one got me because of the flashbacks. MEGA THANKS !!

Do you know what influence, if any, John Petersen had in making the score? It is hard to find behind the scenes info on Miami Vice

No problem Pal, i'm glad you enjoy it. :) A lot of Jan's cues from Seasons 1 & 2 appeared in seasons 3 & 4, but sometimes they were quite reworked. :)
