A weapon with out the heat shield is jus simply unserviceable and needs to have it replaced unless you have a rail system installed.

In the British army we've been using the GPMG since the sixties and very little has changed. When the US army realised it was better than the M60 they bought it but made a crucial alteration. The addition of automatic gas regulation which we have on the FN Para MINIMI. stops the user shaking it to peices lol.

@TheHazegamer it's called "talking the guns". Generally in an infantry platoon, you have two machine gun teams. They provide overwatch and support by fire. They alternate fire to make sure a steady flow of suppression is being laid down range and at the same time conserving ammo and not burning up the barrel.
