  • Well, when they said "start with a black suit", I knew this was old. 5years? No surprise they claim three buttons is the most popular.

  • Well, it's 5years old, I am not surprised by some of the stuff they there (black suit as number one, three buttons as most popular etc.).

  • Don't buy a black suit.

  • "I think the most important suit to own is a black suit". Wrong. It's the navy suit.

  • rule 1: suit has to be slim-fitted, like 'League of Rebels', for instance

  • Where can I see the whole thing! Answer motherlovers.

  • Wheeeeeere can I see this whole documentary?

Is there another good one about suits?

  • I love suits I have 3 but the one i love its my Pure white 1, but it seems to me that White seems to be a less and less now-a-days. I was very lucky to get my suit. it was one of the last ones made. I reckon reflects a outgoing personality and it stands out better that a black or even grey.

  • Barney Stinson.

  • At 1:20 what are the collars name on that guys shirt?! Can somone message me a link for a shirt like that.

  • 0:32 , o man look at that Tie, Its so beautiful, Nothing suits me like a suit , specially black one

  • The right suit can change a man. I recently had to find a suit for my friend attending a special conference and found an AWESOME deal on megasuits - they have black, navy, gray, 1 button, 2 button, 3 button suits with flat and pleated pants.

  • 'You never button the bottom buttons''- why is there a bottom button there in the first place?.

I find the black suit the sexiest and the navy suit most sophisticated tbh.

  • black suit = Traids

  • Black suits = going to a funeral

  • Gosh i would love a royal navy blue suit.... sorry to say but americans don't know how to dress PERIOD.

  • @khurramw1isstillhere i agree americans don,t know how to dress

  • Gosh i would love a royal navy blue suit....

  • Never button the bottom button!

    Never, never, never!

  • Suits and people who wear them conform! Say no to suits.

  • @Dslater417 Amen. Suits don't make the man.

  • love this clip! Anyone know where this is from? And, are there any more clips?

  • @rach1449 It came from a free DVD that was part of a magazine subscription. I don't remember which one nor what year. I posted the video three years ago, so that's about it.

  • I love wearing suits!!

  • two button suit. for the win. 3 button suit is too short of a v, 1 button is just fucked up. and double breasted is horrendous

  • i had NO idea wtf those guys were talkin about >.<

  • men in suits are hot.

  • acually i jusr bought 3 suits from Brooks Brothers ... for me they make the best suits and im gonna take it to a tailor every thing fit good and ok but i want the jacket more ripped thats all a lil bit fabric on the jacket the pants good every thing amazing ... oh befor i forget this video is the best to show u how to dress a suit

  • The most important suit to own is a black suit? I'm not sure when this video was made, but I can't imagine anyone saying that these days. On many occasions, the LEAST appropriate suit is a black suit.

  • @vincentrich Yes, I agree ... a blue suit should be the first and fundamental one. When worn with a white dress shirt, the black suit makes you look like a waiter anyway. However, a black suit provides plenty of options worn as separates, with jeans, colorful shirts for nights and weekends, or dressed up for a straight business look.

  • If you were suits regularly get a black, grey, and navy blue before other colors.

  • i just bought a emporio armani suit

  • what is this program?

  • I love suits,,,,,,,,

  • is it possible to get ur slacks slim or superslim instead of it baggy?

  • @ryanm511 yes it is, i like slimmer fitting dress pants too, and i think that the brooks brothers "fitzgerald" is the best looking suit out there. it has slimmer fitting, flat front pants, lol, my 2 favorites.

  • @BeboAltizer Thanks for ur help =)

  • @ryanm511 No problem.

  • I hate pleated pants

  • Yes, pleats add volume to the waist. So if you're ripped, you don't want to hide your hard earned shape. And if you're flabby, you don't want to accentuate your thickest area and focus attention on your pear shape.

  • @TrevorXstyle

    I love them!!

  • tailored the best way to go

  • Just bought a CK suit, looks great.

  • niedawno fotografowałam garnitury... dbałość o szczegóły patrząc przez pryzmat optyki to nic prostego. Niby nic a jednak coś.

  • lmao, that isn't custom if it's on a website..

  • 2 button, flat front, no cuff.

  • I AM A 3-BUTTON GUY (always leave the bottom button unbuttoned....Im surprised alot of guy dont know this!)

  • @whatkindaboi With a three-button suit, you should leave both the top and bottom buttons un-buttoned. Only the middle button gets closed.

  • I love suits. I looks good in them and they feel great and give me a boost of confidence. I get where Seyahhsod's coming from, but I don't understand why mankind has to give up such a great look just to make men seem equal. Could you imagine if all of us dressed like Kid Rock?

    *shudder*

  • without button is the hottest! surveyed and proven guys! haha trust me!

  • I'm a ftat front guy...

  • I normally just wrap the suit jacket around my ass, then wrap the pants around my neck - normally looks pimping.

  • i only like to wear the black pants and the white shirt with a plain black tie

  • and look like a doorman at some swanky hotel

  • Wow...don't you think you guys are a tad bit radical? I personally wear suits because I like being classy and elegant. I'm not the person who follows trends like some of you are coming off.

It's not the suit that is crooked, it's the individual. If your son/daughter decides to put on a suit, is he/she now crooked and a swindler? Heck no!

By the way, I don't sell anything, nor do I cater to you in a restaurant. I just like suits. And for the guy down there, always button your vests!

  • So BFulmore561, what you are saying is, only people who are in suits are elegant and have class ?

    Right?

  • @BFulmore561 You know, Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips and Nick Cave of The Bad Seeds both wear suits almost all the time, yet they maintain a radical rock 'n' roll look. Suits work in almost any situation.

  • I don't have a suit!And don't think i really need one lol!But cool vid anyway!

  • Now here's a question. Do button rules also apply to vests? Cause I've heard things like don't button bottom two, don't do this, button all the way...etc. Is there a vest rule or is it all just bull?

  • i dont understand the last part.. with the pants

  • I don't even know why Diddy and Trump are in this. Trumps clothing is so plain and cheap, diddy's is ok but still sucks for the most part.

  • About time some people got the length of the sleeves right ... everybody wear it too long. Its not because the suit is from the shelve that it doesn't need adjustment ,,, and dont listen to the salesmn, they aren't talors, just selesmen !

  • that one guy looks like patrick bateman.. awesome

  • I have a big question about the 2 pockets of the jacket (the ones who are in front and are visible) i have seen a lot of photos and people wearing those pockets like inside the jacket i mean the extra piece of cloth inside , is that good? ok? or is a bad thing?

  • Thats really just up to you ... I sometimes wear it inside and sometimes outside. Inisde is more sporty, outside is more formal, so it depends how you feel or where you are ...

  • Black is for funerals...

  • suits rocks

  • wearing suits???? what else do we do with the suits?lol

  • My man in a suit...yum yum Not just any man. My man...yes!

  • everyone looks better in a suit!

  • I got my first suit, black pinstripped suit. I had fun trying many diff suits, plain black suits didnt quite do it for me because I wanted to feel a bit more snazy when i put it on, but also formal at the same time.

  • hey is it still stylish to wear ur shirt coller over ur suit jacket?

  • noooo, lol.

  • Man I love suits

  • hey guys,

need some help here!!! i bought a grey suit for my graduation and dont know what shirt and tie to wear!!! help please!!!

  • White shirt and black necktie is most classic.

Almost everything goes, just not use to flashy colors with a grey suit. ;)

  • Deffinately depends on the tone of both, I own a dark grey suit that goes very well with a striped color tie.

  • I'm 22 y/o and just got into wearing suits regularly. This video helped me a lot, even tho I knew most of the info already. There were a few things I wasn't sure on (the cuff/pleat issue towards the end and finding a good jacket) and it's good to hear the facts from men who would know. I got into an argument the other night with a friend over whether or not you button the bottom button, I said no, they said yes. I was right! haha.

  • People are way to Judge mental. If some one came to a job interview in whatever they like dressing in I would totally have more respect for him whether they like bing in a suit or not.

If bush gave a speech dressed as a cow boy people might think he as really gone insane. but really to a smart man he would see that bush must of liberated him self and found his marbles.

    fight the slavery.

  • Judge mental? Wow...

  • does anybody kno if you can turn a 3 button suit into a 2 button suit...?

  • does anybody kno if you can turn a 3 button suit into a 2 button suit...?

  • Well, it's easy to turn a 2 button into a 3 button. My local tailor will do it for a tenner (bit pricey in my opinion, but it does require a special sowing machine).

However, turning a 3 button into a 2 button... just rip the button off.

By the way, its law to always have a 3 button suit, but top 2 buttons done up... THATS THE LAW!

  • In the 1960s when two button suits came into fashion after the three-button "grey flannel suit" of the 1950s, many men had their 3B suits tailored into 2B suits.

What the tailor needs to do - aside from removing the top button - is reset the lapels so the V is deeper, which often makes the top button hole fold over into the bottom of the newly formed lapel. This also can widen the lapels, which can be a problem.

The tailor can take in the waist to give the jacket a more fitted silhouette.

  • me like suit, but me dont have money :D

  • Uhh guys the freakin way it is is you button your damn jacket. Theres no ffreakin reason to walk around unbutton unless your an ass than go ahead and look like and ass.

  • YES... 3 button suit always, with top 2 buttons done up.

Makes the suit move so perfectly when a man walks.

  • The "proper" buttoning arrangement is to ONLY button the MIDDLE one. But many people wear their jackets with the TOP TWO buttons fastened. This is how fashion changes over time. What was once forbidden becomes a NEW rule. However, there is one rule that is universal ... NEVER fasten ALL buttons. Period.

  • fasten bottom button can be fashsion in future, who knows?

  • I know that they say to only button the middle one. But a guy told me that doing the top two buttons up was European, not a new radical way of doing it. Is this true?

  • But a man should move like he wants to and naturally does, not the way the PUBLIC expects him to. If he starts doing what people expect of him he is NO LONGER A MAN!

    ~Seyahhsod~

  • Laurance Zarian is a fony

  • all my suits are goodwill specials and stuff i've put together from friends old clothes and such! seriously you can find some nice jackets and pants if you look hard enough and most won't be able to tell that it's not brand new...

  • Yes ... yes ... yes ... vintage suits from second hand stores are cheap and stylish. Just don't forget to visit a tailor and ensure your previously owned suit fits YOU correctly.

  • I love men in suits! HOT

  • paunch

  • I love a man in a suit, it looks so sexy ;-)

  • People who wear suits cannot be trusted.. what are they trying to hide eh?

  • It's fashion and style what they don't hide

  • I agree. I think suits are used to counteract the bullshit the spews out of the wearers mount. Look at the main people where people wear suits. Sales Reps, Managers, Politicians, Lawyers and Preachers.

  • Nick Cave. Bob Dylan. Arturo Toscanini. Eugene Ormandy. George Clinton. Jay Z. John Lennon. Johnny Cash. Bill Monroe. Frank Zappa. John Lydon. Joe Strummer. All wore suits.

  • Only because they were TOLD TO

    and

Only because they needed to "deceive" the public into making them change into a different person.

  • Ok they you go live in your imaginary world where wearing a suit is not professional way to present yourself, and the next time you go interview for a job wear some jean shorts and a plain t-shirt. douche.

  • @olakunde The suit does not make the man. A person with half a brain would respect work ethic above appearance. I pity you for requiring a suit in order to project a good image. I bet you also have a collection of useless and expensive ties as well. Good luck playing dress up at job interviews, conformist princess.

  • @Dominick629 And one day (if ur worth two shits) you'll grow up and put on some big boy clothes, and get a real job instead of living out of your parents basement and scheming about how the business plan for your own head shop is really gonna take you places. Lol!

Keep dreamin' loser. The 60's had a whole generation of douche bags like you and you see what happened to all them... they WOKE UP.

  • @olakunde I am a looser because I think that work ethic is more important than the brand of suit someone wears? You obviously never got your precious little hands dirty doing real work. You are most likely working out of a cubical that destroyed your soul and venting your anger on someone like me relieves some of your pain. I chose to retain my individuality and not take it up the ass by some cooperate job. Enjoy the rest of your miserable conformist life, doing meaningless work, pussy.

  • @Dominick629 Yes in fact I will indeed enjoy my quite marvelous upwardly mobile life very nicely thank you. I'll enjoy it, along with my large house, my foreign car, world class vacations, & college educated kids. I'll enjoy those things ALMOST as much as I enjoy writing your checks, so that you can go back to enjoying YOUR double-wide trailer, ford pick up truck, trips to the farmers market, and kid who works the fry station at dairy queen. I'd be delighted!... BITCH.

  • @olakunde None of those things describe me. I'm college educated as well. Congrats on demeaning all people who do in fact own Ford pickup trucks, or trailers, shop at the farmers market, or make minimum wage. You prove my point perfectly. The arrogance of assholes like you that think wearing expensive cloths makes you more of a man is sickening. I've made more of a difference in this world VOLUNTEERING my time than you will in your entire professional career. Fuck yourself and your car and suit.

  • @Dominick629 O so what your sayin is I picked the wrong stereotype. Youra good 4 no1, idealist neo-hippie, who doesnt shave, drives a wrangler, wears birkenstocks, & shops @ whole foods. My bad! You'r worse off than I thought! Com bak & holler @ me wen u grow up 2 figure out that u cant make a living off the stipend the NGO u work 4 pays u, & u finally decide join the rest of the grown-ups @ a real job. I'll b waiting right there @ the desk with ur resume n hand. Oh & uh... b sure 2 wear a suit!

  • @olakunde You know, If you're going to portray yourself as a big shot, you should really work on your spelling and grammar. I know High School students with better command of the English language. Also, your second attempt at stereotyping me failed. You loose, twice.

  • @Dominick629 Haha! Oh I highly doubt that! Nice "zingger" by-the-way, resorting to grammar critiques on The Youtube where everyone's clearly is limited to 500 characters or less. You sure showed me. GOOD ONE! (douche)

    XD

  • @olakunde please don't feed Internet trolls. This Dominick guy wouldn't go onto a video on suits and then complain about how unnecessary they are unless he wanted attention - he doesn't want to "win" the argument or "educate" you, he just wants to get a rise out of you and, for that reason, you aren't going to win no matter what you say. /argument
