Think they are spacing new feature introductions out for milk the market. Purposely left out cameras in the first iPad so they can give you a reason to upgrade to this one. To me, the cameras are the only really new significant feature here. Yes the subtle refinements are nice like the reduced weight and much faster processing but what'll REALLY make me want an updated iPad is that double resolution display they are rumoring about.

If they have a double res display in the next one, sign me up.

Despite owning the original iPad, the lack of screen improvements and 1080p video recording were a real deal breaker for me. While being slightly cheaper than the upcoming Android tablets, I don't feel this compensates for the lack of new features.

My next upgrade will most likely be the Samsung Tab II.

for all those complaining about the ram apple never released the first iPad's it was only discovered after it was opened. Likely it's been double to 512.. me and my wife have sold our Gen 1 iPads and will be ordering soon! iOS 5 preview would have been the only thing to make the event spectacular but they didn't announce iOS 4 during the first iPad launch so not surprised here, we'll just need to wait for the summer to get the enhancements which hopefully including notifications updates!

It seems as if Apple's fallen into a trend where they don't shock people with new products anymore. They just make the expected upgrades (cameras, processor, etc.), with nothing that really takes people by surprise.

It kind of takes away from the magic when everything they unveiled was already rumored/predicted. Well, everything but that magical cover.

Also, I miss the out-of-the-blue "one more thing."

I currently have a computer and iPod touch 3rd generation but I actually have like 2 rooms(One room has a staircase in it leading up to my bedroom) and I thought having an iPad there would be convinent. Apple is now going to have to play catchup to Honeycomb and the slew of Android tablets, not to mention the RIM Playbook. The HDMI proprietary adapter is ridiculous. Why? What's wrong with the standard port? The only answer is that the adapter will raise the price of the iPad by $40. People have complained that the Xoom is too expensive, but quite honestly, compared to the iPad 2 it's priced just right.

I'm guessing iOS 5 will be announced along with the iPhone 5 later this year. I'm hoping that with the feature set of the current Android/ WebOS tablet devices that Apple really changes things for iOS 5.

I use my iPad currently for readings the news, checking email, surfing the web. This doesn't really change anything for me. I'd like a better multitasking experience in terms of getting my twitter updates/ msn messages and replying to them without having to 'switch' in and out of apps.

Here's my take on it, iPad 2 will be wildly successful, even more so than the first one. It still doesn't have proper notifications or true-multitasking but I don't see Apple going down this road. They want good battery life and to keep things simple. I will get one.

The additions I see coming in the iPad 3 are an SD card slot and double resolution display. I don't believe there's anything else they could do to make the hardware better. Incremental speed boost in CPU a year later is assumed.

Apple are not at a point yet were they have the ability to include a retina display in the ipad at such a short time limit. Next year they will be able too, but if they had skipped an update for this year they would have been slammed with complaints for the next year. A speed bump before the REAL refresh is exactly what they needed to keep themselves out of the dog house.

This thing still has the 1024x768 screen from last generation so 256 MB of RAM just might be the max. iOS is really getting long in the tooth and  needs to face this reality. We shouldn't have to jailbreak to get advanced functionality & iOS is perfectly capable handling such advanced features like true multitasking & exposé. I have such features on my jailbroken 3GS and it's still fast & smooth.
