@TheFunkologist: I've been playing funk twenty years. I never met a rapper who knew the slightest thing about music.Talking shit with their "Yeah's and Yo's"' into a microphone like a tough guy doesn't cut it, fool. And there's nothing more pathetic then when they start bobbing their stupid fucking heads to some simple beat on a cheap-ass Casio thinking it's the funkiest thing they ever heard. Only thing those chumps are good for is their weed.
@tomthefunky I see you got a pretty limited view on hip hop artists. Paul been around for years and worked with a shitload of artists in mad different genres. Established artists too. He's also one of the most humble cats, and far from a tough guy. And "only good for weed"? that sounds borderline racist if you ask me. Why even bother to reply at my videos. Keep it moving please.
@tomthefunky Wow! Where to start? Okay, first of all, did you listen to the lyrics? There was no acting tough here. Secondly, real Hip hop has nothing to do with cheap-ass Casio beats. Have you never heard of sampling? Real Producers "chop" up real Funk for MCs to rhyme over. And before you criticise people who sample, it was the Hip hop generation who resurrected the Funk, and has kept it alive. Even Bootsy, Fred Wesley and Maceo Parker had stopped touring before Hip hop brought them back.
@funkateer17 The lyrics to rap songs are usually completely retarded . And in a live setting you can't understand them anyway. Why don't you try reading the lyrics to Johnnie Mercer or Cole Porter for a taste of what real lyrical talent is. And you are dead wrong Bootsy, Fred and Maceo stopped touring and hip hop brought them back. That's bullshit, they never stopped touring and making records. And the average hip hop fan doesn't know who they are anyway. Who are you kidding?
@tomthefunky Yes, I know the lyrics to most (mainstream) Rap are retarded, that's why I and many other Hip hoppers don't touch that shit with a barge pole, preferring to get our music from the underground scene instead. If you want to hear some real lyrics, go and listen to a song called 'Uncommon Valor' by Jedi Mind Tricks. As for Bootsy and the others, there's a documentary on here in which Bootsy admits they'dstopped touring. They came back around the time they featured on Dee-Lite's...
@funkateer17 Nile Rodgers once said that he can't criticize rappers because they all have shown the deepest respect for him over the years. I'm sure Bootsy, Fred and Maceo feel the same way. If hip-hop has helped old-school soul and funk artists financially or otherwise, that's fine.
But in the end, there is no substitute for someone who can really play an instrument, or can really sing. It's that simple.
Loved it until the no-talent shwoogie started rapping.

@tomthefunky So what you're sayin', Large Pro is untalented? Either you're joking or you taste in music is disgusting.
