But it is possible. I do know that no one "heals" you...but rather your own spirit heals the body it is encased in. There are charlatans out there I have come across. The spirit enters the beyond where the life experiences are neutralized and learned from. Then the spirit is prepared for the next incarnation. The concentration exercise is a form of meditation but is more preparatory for actual meditation. Simply it is focusing on a flame, etc (for example) and blanking out the mind and when thoughts, ideas, memories, etc. surface you quiet them away. Once you can maintain the activities of the brain quiet, you are then ready for actual meditation. Glad to see you have opened your horizons.
