  • no wonder they've deleted it, it's of such poor quality :D

  • oooh eyesore quality

  • My Fav uniform is the one Picard had that was 2 layers...A gray & black shirt with an open jacket with the original uniform design on it...Those episodes aired during the "Grunge" era of music...reminds me of every one wearing flannel over t-shirts everywhere u went...Although I consider DS9 to be the real "Grunge Trek"...Something depressing or dreary was all ways looming around the WormHole...A lot of bitter-sweet endings...

  • I'm very confused. That entire scene is part of the actual movie... So the question becomes, why the hell didn't you pull this from a good quality recording?

  • @floydieflakes Because you are confused. Go watch the movie again. :)

  • I love star trek, don't get me wrong, but Generations was a "MOVIE" so to just have Riker and Wolf talking about 1. Klingon High Council 2. Soran. and 3. Having Riker explain everything we just saw. Anyone who isn't a hard core trekkie wouldn't know anything about what he was talking about.

  • I'll be dammed... I didn't know this had been released to the public!

  • @EVAUnit4A No wonder the uniform has NEVER been seen before when the cast can't even see anything on the ship thanks to the video quality!

  • It always amused me how often Star Fleet would change their uniforms. Never have I seen such an orginizaion so obessed with the appearance of their uniforms. :)

  • @scopedoc I stand corrected :) all I know is that so-called digita camo (I think that's what it's called) is about the ugliest and seemingly pointless 'innovation' I can think of. What's that for hiding in a video game forrest? :)

  • bring him with me... bowchikawowwow...

  • The film has been passed through a racoon's digestive system.

  • cock you

  • i don't think this was cut i remember this scene

  • @firebirddrumer ya not all of the scene

  • @firebirddrumer i think the deleted scene is the bit where riker and worf go to check up on data but i agree i remember the scene

  • I saw this scene in a Dublin cinema.

  • Dude, tracking can be adjusted. (joking, but holy shit....)

  • @PosFlow Before now I haven't looked at any of the extra footage. There's one scene with Date and Picard drinking wine and talking about life decisions that particularly resonates. Good, good shit.

  • i swear i saw this at the cinema...then never again, until now

  • I think Generations was the Next Gen movie where I felt least bored in at the theater

  • @jcook51 I felt the least boring movie was First Contact. Most boring was either Nemesis or... it was so crappy I can't remember the name of the movie that came between FC and Nemesis.

  • @AltairBen

    Insurrection

    .....

I saw it as one of those really long episodes of TNG that the writers put together at the last min cause they were on vacation.

  • I think some of this should have been left in the final cut. Riker asking Data, "How do you feel?" would have won some praise as a homage to The Voyage Home.

  • @mustang6172 Not to mention more of an already excellent performance from Brent Spiner.

  • I'll probably get crucified for this, but to me, the best uniform designs are a few possible variations of the Star Trek Online-Uniforms. Might be because the comic look gives them a leathery and stiff look.

The Post-First-Contact Uniforms are a very close second though. Post-TWoK-Uniforms were okay, except for the color. Too much red, I personally prefer dark blue, black or gray as the dominant color on uniforms.

  • I like the modern ones with purple bust, cause it really looks like uniform. Not pyjamas.

  • aww i wish this was better quality, i love the data part ^_^

  • I think I read somewhere, the reason they cut this scene out was specifically the uniform. It didn't make sense for him to be wearing a normal uniform before he was captured, then be wearing the new one afterwards. They didn't realize this until after filming was over, so they cut the scene.

The figure of Geordie wearing this uniform was the first one released of him, however.

  • @bigabs18281

ALL video from cut scenes from Generations is like this. It's like none of it was stored correctly. Even when it's been shown at conventions, it's like this.

  • I agree they should have left these scenes in, they help the movie along.

  • Can someone please tell me what's different about it?

  • @TheThirdAngryGit I can't tell for sure but I think the front has a side-button closure, much like old-school or steampunkish pilot uniforms. Or even better example, like the scarlet uniform worn by Kirk in every movie after ST:TMP.

  • Wow, i have the 2 DVD set with tons of deleted scenes, but it didn't have this one. By the way, the uniform change came about when they realized the zippers going down the back really looked bad on the big screen, so they tried to make the change subtlely thru the movie.

  • They should have left these scenes in!

  • This is weird, because I was just thinking the other day: I remembered seeing a story on Entertainment Tonight a long time ago, before _Generations_ came out. It showed behind-the-scenes footage of the "new" film, and I recall the bridge-crew had new uniforms in it. Later, however, when I went to see _Generations_ in the theater, they didn't have the uniforms I had seen on Entertainment Tonight. I was wondering if I imagined the whole thing!

  • Data looks like he needs some Rogain BADLY!!! Funny... I didn't know BALDING was one of Data's programs! LOL!!!

  • Workprint bootlegs fucking rock! If the quality of this vid makes you queasy, I DARE you to watch the 5 hour version of Apocalypse Now!

  • Geordi is the only one wearing the new uniform and it's hard to see here, but basically it's a jacket like in the Kirk & Spock movies but in Next Generation colors. During the TV series the TNG uniform was repeatedly redesigned, starting as a jumpsuit that zipped up the front and ending as a jacket that zipped up the back, which looked too "costumey". Geordi's jacket has a flap that closes in the front, a new collar, stripes on the cuffs, and a straight waistline, no more black delta.

  • Too hard to see the details on the uniform Geordi wears, but it looks like the TNG- series uniform he wore in the scene when he was captured by Dr. Soran on the Amargosa Observatory.

"Did you learn anything from the human?"

"No. His heart wasn't in it."

    --Lursa and Soran.

I never saw the torture scenes that were cut, but I read in the novelization about Soran using a nanoprobe to induce cardiac arrest in LaForge . Dr. Crusher later announced to Picard that she removed it from Geordi.

  • why isnt this on the dvd

  • intersting

  • I never saw this deleted scene, although I distinctly remember a scene with Geordi aboard the Klingon ship with Soran getting tortured. In the DVD version of the film Soran alludes to torturing him but I swear I remember seeing actual torture going on where Soran stopped and started Geordi's heart several times.

Seems odd that they would show Picard getting tortured by the Cardassians on TV and then cut Geordi getting tortured in the movie...

  • there is no change in uniforms

  • @durteedan they combined TNG and DS9 uniforms for the movie

  • This is crazy, but I remember the scene with Riker and Worf walking in the corridor being in the movie when I saw it in the theater in 1994.

  • "For awhile." Thanks so much for posting this. I found it hard to understand how after the released version, when Crusher said that the chip was fused into his neural net, how he could be w/o emotions again in their final movie. Now I see a natural progression: Riker suggests that it can be removed after awhile; apparently an intermediate stage was First Contact where he could turn it on and off, and then in Nemesis, he had apparently removed it.

  • They should have kept the deleted scenes in, the film would have been something added to it, especially the alternate opening with Kirk skydivng would have introduced him in the film as the Kirk we always knew and loved

  • In Generations, Data's emotion chip gets fused into his net, and can't be taken out or turned off. In FC, he has the ability to switch it off at will. And in Insurrection and Nemesis, he can even take the chip out if he wants. There's a discrepancy here...

  • @TheAdam159 Not really. FC happens about a year from this film. It's very plausible that in that time, Data and Geordi took a better look at the emotion chip (being an Engineer, not a doctor may also help) and figured out ways to let Data do those things with his chip.

  • Of it's better than nothing! As bad as it is at least you see SOMETHING. The alternative is seeing nothing. Buncha illogical noobs... BTW thanks swaaye.

  • no they should have stuck with voyager uniforms.

  • They should've just gone with only DS9 uniforms.

  • Star Trek: Generations had so many deleted scenes in the original script and from the filmed material that Paramount Studios could have made it into two movies, or just run an additional season of ST:TNG. The pace of the finished movie was just too slow in some areas and too abrupt in other areas.

  • WHAT THE FUCK.....

  • I tire of Klingons. Especially the troglodytes of TNG.

  • I own the Data action figure from way back when in that uniform. Looks pretty nice, especially with the rank insignia on the sleeves!

  • woah vhs

  • What is there to understand about the uniform change? We all know Starfleet likes to update their look a little too often. We can assume they were right in the middle of a transition period.

  • What's different about Geordi's uniform? I can't tell due to the video quality. It looks like the standard TNG uniform.

  • @ForbiddenStallion If you look at the 5 inch Playmates action figures for Star Trek: Generations, that's what they were going to look like.

  • this is actually the origonal recording or close to, their pirate version... but close to the origonal yes...

  • I didn't see anything that explained the uniform changes in this video, but thanks for uploading it, I have never seen this scene before.

  • Lol, Data just looks like he's going bald.

  • Wow that was really cool, thanks for uploading.

  • What I want to know is why they even bothered. Because in the movie it was completely RANDOM. They'd go from having someone wearing the TNG version then randomly go the DS9 version and give NO reason for it!!! It wasn't like the entire bridge crew was wearing it in the end, they just kinda kept going back and forth, and GOD it was annoying!

  • whats with the quality o_o

  • Shouldn't Geordi be the one looking Data over? She knows how to turn him off (the switch) but that's about it.

  • @HypnoToad72 Geordi was kidnapped by the Klingons at this time. There was no one else to take a look on him.

  • @HypnoToad72

Dr Crusher has also worked on Data

  • New Uniform?

  • @blastardinc

aye if you look at La forge when he is knocked out, you can see a vent in the chest. Berman was trying to do a wath of khan type of uniform but using TNG colours.

it cost too much and was scrapped.

  • It's a FAAAAAAKKKKKEEEE!!!

  • @rhart49 It is reaaal! watch?v=6lHgbbM9pu4&NR=1

I first saw something like this on ytmnd but I couldn't find the original.

  • @fremandn

    What's real? : /

  • @SexyRyo1 I was just joking and referring to the "It's a FAAAKE!! no... ITS REAAAL" Deep Space 9 meme.

rhart49 was talking about the uniform they were thinking about using in Generations, but didn't. You can see the uniform for a short period of time in the above clip at 0:10 .

  • @fremandn

    Oh ok. ^^

  • @rhart49

    What's fake? : /

  • hahah, because of the bad quality, Data simply looks bald

  • I KNOW HAAHAHA!

  • The one scene with Data is great-- I wish they would have kept it

  • What's the point? The emotion chip didn't stay stuck in his head for long.

  • I guess so, but the interaction between the characters here is really nice

  • looks like an old betamax porno thats been watched too many times

  • and you would know how? lol

  • @branfrog thats what hey say about your mom

  • @branfrog That is way too specific.

  • This is interesting, and gives extra explaination of why Data had his emotion chip activated throughout the entirety of Generations - in spite of the trouble it caused him - while he chose to remove it later on, in Insurrection.

  • it wasnt removed. He has the ability to deactivate it. They showed that in first contact.

  • Actually, if I may say so,

he says during generations and I quote

"Deactivating me is the only viable solution"

First contact states he can deactivate his chip, but in this film, he, data, can be deactivated... theres a gap in the writing

  • someone didn't watch the TV series. Data has an off switch. It was shown in (I believe) season 2.

  • Season 1 I believe in the episde Datalore if I recall he tells Dr Crusher where it is so she can turn him off so she can check how he was constructed

  • @leshpar His comment with Dr. Crusher was, "If you had an off switch, would you tell anyone?"

  • @leshpar you are right. It was first mentioned and shown in Season 1, Episode 12 ("Datalore") and actually used during the hearing in the 2. Seasons 9th Episode ("The Measure of a Man").

  • @leshpar So what's that have to do with anything in this movie? He asks to be "turned off" but Picard won't let him.

  • no there isn't ther is a switch on Data's back that allows people to turn him off watch the episode Datalore

  • colour has been around since the 1920s, it just cost so much to develope. the wizard of Oz had colour in it.

  • lol cant see anything...clearly

  • why is riker wearing a different uniform?

  • idk some people on VOY wear it though

  • They didnt have enought uniforms and they lost a bunch when they cleaned them, they shrinked so they had to get some from the closet (Voyager's uniforms) Its being explained in Director's comments.

  • star trek insurrection

  • Didn't they had better camera's in 1994?

  • Yes, but this is likely several generations below first generation, and each time an analog tape is copied, the quality degrades.

Based on the occasional appearance of a TCR when the vertical position changes, this is likely from a tape made for editing.

  • I think the source video tape is to blame for the bad quality...

  • press tracking button on the ol' betamax player

  • The costumes in TNG sucked big time (will most of the universe really be wearing spandex jumpsuits and unitards in the 24th century? lol), but I LOVED the officer uniforms. The best of all the series, I thought.

  • Editors and "script doctors" really destroy a movie instead of saving it.

  • This was pretty good. I dont know why they cut it... But I guess they cant keep EVER scene...

  • I think the best ST uniforms were the TMP era red outfits.

  • @saberswing Wouldn't that be WoK era red outfits?

The TMP era outfits were all blue pajamas. :P

  • Great scene.

  • The new uniforms were a lot better IMO. The once introduced in FC are even better.

  • ''dont feel bad Data you can hardly see it, here you can always wear a taupe''

  • Haha, bald Data XD

The TNG uniforms were the best I thought, I have an operations one XD

  • The TNG uniforms were better, even if Picard could apparently never find one to fit. :)

  • I love the DS9/VOY uniforms (have one to)..wasnt this in the special features on the DVD? I remember this I'll have to go back and look.

  • Data went bald!

  • while I appreciate the idea, what on earth did you do to this video? Is it a copy of a copy of a videotape written over to beta cassette and run through a fax machine?

  • I just took a hit of L.S.D.... Straightened the video right out!

  • @magicmaker15....I miss the good old LSD....

  • They really needed to keep that sickbay scene in the movie!!!! Poor Data...

  • I wish the theatrical and DVD versions both contained the scene where Soran stops Geordi's heart. It makes the whole "his heart wasn't into it" line make much more sense.

  • Why did they change the uniforms?

  • They couldn't make up their minds. Personally I wish they'd stuck with the TNG uniforms.

  • Agreed, they are 100% better than the ds9/voyager ones. The ones in First Contact were OK.

  • @swaaye Didn't Voyager come out shortly after this movie and they wanted a new uniform for the new series? And it was realistic to show the uniforms being phased in during the movie. i.e members of the crew change out of their old uniforms at the end of one shift and when they go back on the replicator dispenses the new uniform.

  • @swaaye I like the TNG uniform better, too, but I can't seem to notice the difference in Geordi's uniform. Please elaborate.

  • @NYCWOLVERINE they changed the uniforms to have the colors on top, because this attacts the eye to the face, as apose to the chest, which is where we probobly should be looking.

  • Comment removed

  • It is better than nothing.

  • @t1ngley Actually, it is, cuz between this and nothing, I'd take this any day, kthxbye. :)

  • I remember those figures that were released with the new uniform. It was several months before I realized that they were different from the normal tng uniforms and thought that was the oddest thing.

  • haha data look like picard with his hair like that hahahahaha

  • So this isn't a deleted scene from the DVD? Where did this come from then?

  • @lonstar70 that's what I'd like to know. There's intermittent header showing "Paramount Prop. CBO COPY 6-22-94" so I wonder if he got it straight from the studio... if that's the case it's worth it's weight in gold...

  • @Steph6n Guess you can't say how you acquired it then, lol.

I'm thinking there is more deleted footage out there where Geordi is concerned. Do you remember how in the movie Soran was asked if Geordi told him anything? And Soran said something along the lines of, "His heart just wasn't into it..." which made no sense at all? Well in the novel, Soran injects some sort of nano probe into Geordi and he tortures him by messing with his heart. I have no idea why they didn't go with that.

  • @lonstar70 Yes that's right... and that scene was actually made but then cut from the movie, which is why he says that line with such obviousness. I have all the movies on DVD and they talk about it in the special features, although I haven't seen the actual footage anywhere. I hope they come up with Blue Ray Edition with all of that juicy extras in the near future

  • The best uniforms were the ones used in late DS9. It looked so much more realistic and serious than the others

  • Then again, they were made to fit the whole "War"-setting more, no?

  • Couldn't agree more. I liked TNG but the uniforms were just generic science fiction attire.

  • agree, y do they always where jumpsuits? lol

  • this is horrible horrible quality

  • I agree. But better than nothing, huh?

  • @swaaye no

  • To continue, the producers then had to resort to using the DS9 uniforms for as the new VOY uniforms because the new "militaristic" uniforms had not turned out properly. Many toys, including action figures, were made with these uniforms, which I should think would be collectors' items nowadays, but they were never used. Pity, because they were better than the revamped DS9 uniforms (season five onwards, with blue yoke, colored collar, etc) and ST:GEN looked ridiculous with a mized uniform bag.

  • I agree, the two different uniforms in Generations looked totally stupid. If there was a reason for it (such as on away mission, working in engineering, etc.), then maybe, but having the crew just deciding on what uniform they would wear each shift makes no sense. And for me, the DS9 uniform looks less professional. Command officers such as Picard and Riker look better in the formal uniform than they do in that stupid jumpsuit.

  • OK: Geordi's uniform for this scene was the original uniform designed specifically for Generations. It was supposed to be the new universal uniform for the Star Trek franchise. However, once they were made and used in a couple of scenes, producers felt they were too "militaristic" with the over-the-chest flap and TOS-style sleeve striping, so they ditched it for the DS9/VOY uniforms. Those uniforms had been created for DS0 to look like workman's overalls for the "space-station" feel of DS9....

  • Was this one of the first scenes filmed then?

  • That, I do not know for sure, but I would assume that it was. Since film and television are not filmed in the order in which they are seen, it is plausible that since this was an early draft of the uniform (and the fact that this scene is deleted from the final cut, as if it were such an early scene that it "didn't fit" with the rest of the movie once it was made) that it was filmed early on.

    Live long and prosper. V

  • That makes sense. Why did all three of my replies that were to three different comments, not display under the original comment I was replying to? I've noticed this quite a bit.

  • I don't see a new uniform. I see the regular uniform he wore on the series but cut down the one side from a struggle or something.

  • Pause it when geordi is lying on the floor. You can see the collar of the new uniform is all gold, rather than black with the gold piping, and it fastens down the right of the chest much like the old movie uniforms did. I remember seeing these designs in one of those companion books that came out to tie in with this film.

  • I do see the gold collar like you say. Are there any other images of this uniform? This video is scratchy and difficult to really make out.

  • I remember when the Playmates action figures came out for this movie, the uniforms where quite a bit different than anything they used. They must have made a lot of last minute changes. I believe they were struggling to figure this whole "new-uniform" thing out!

  • It is a bit perplexing. Personally I wish they'd stuck with the TNG look for that one movie, but they just had to switch uniforms and blow up my favorite ship all in one movie.

  • I see it now. Looks like only a slight change from the TNG uniform, like they took the color scheme from it and applied it to the TWOK uniforms.

Still, this clip hardly features it, the DS9/VOY uniforms are also present, and other than view counts, the clip would probably have done better under another title.

  • That brief moment is the only scene that exists with that changed uniform though. But yeah maybe I should have cut everything else out and had a 30 second vid. :)

  • ... and what part, exactly, was about the "new uniforms?"

  • Look at the video details that I wrote up.

  • Oh a much better version of that scene, I always thought the way Beverly started talking felt edited badly and now I see it was, Generations is a car wreck but with some tinkering it could be improved vastly.

  • i bet if we got all the deleted cuts from generations into one whole movie we'd get a much better movie

  • Aww man I wish they'd kept this scene!!!

  • ok where is the phantom ST Gen uniform?

i remember [from forums] braid on the sleves to signify rank and a double breasted jacket similar to TWOK uniforms.

AT WHAT POINT in this clip is there an example of that?

  • The new uniform debuted in Generations is the black jumpsuit with the colored yoke, a slight modification of the DS9 uniform (why DS9 had different uniforms from starship crews is a different matter entirely... maybe they had a mad quartermaster). The uniform you're describing IS the TWOK-era uniform, which was used in the 23rd century scenes. Kirk doesn't wear one in the 24th century because he was dressed in civvies, or perhaps uniform casual.

  • Why the world is the picture quality so hideous?

  • I don't think this copy was ever released. . . it looks like someone took a feed from the editors desk on a palmtop or a pda. Someone stole it from the mixing desk . . .

  • Thanks for this rare sinippet!

  • This i never scene this before.

    Thanks for the rare video

  • I've got all the Original Series and Next Generation Season Sets. Oh and all 10 motion pictures too.
