Complete nonsense. They have failed to develop artistically. They are nothing more than a washed up boy band that use to play to teeny boppers. Move on. Nothing to see here.
@TheWebbSean They have a documentary called "Strong Enough to Break" released in 2004 which chronicled their struggle with their record company. Hanson wanted to keep making music and developing music for the next album but the record company/reps were not giving them creative support. Eventually Hanson decided to quit the major label due to creative differences...They really are genuine and creative artists that care about the music they want to do
@TheWebbSean Have you heard all their music? "Weird" (and they were kids when they wrote this) was a very deep song. Lyrics go: "When you live in a cookie-cutter world, being different is a sin. So you don't stand out, and you don't fit in. Weird." So many people related to that song. The song "I Will Come to You" is very touching. Their song dedicated to their late grandmother "With You in Your Dreams" is very genuine and heartfelt...Their songs have a lot of heart and passion.
@TheWebbSean Their 2004 Underneath album is one of their best, that's a really good cd...The song "Strong Enough to Break" (w/c became the title of their 2004 documentary) was also deep in its way,it was sincere by Hanson..Lyrics go "I don't feel myself today/Just a figure in a big monopoly game /Struggle is the price you pay /You get just enough just to give it away..." It's really about life jading you...Their song "Been There Before" is instrumentally and melodically magnificent-very soulful
You have to be kidding. There is no depth to their music. It is well intentioned drivel. They model themselves after non-offensive Christian rock. Not to be confused with Chris Rock who can be very offensive, but very deep and intellectual.
@TheWebbSean And the result of that struggle is the 2004 album "Underneath", which reached No.1 in the Billboard top independent albums chart. That album was produced and released by Hanson's own independent record company, 3CG Records. It's a really good album-regardless if it has ranking in a chart
@TheWebbSean Not so much. They own their own record company. Their albums sell well enough to hit at least the top 10 on the Billboard every time. They're popular enough to do world tours and sell out almost all their concerts. If you feel differently, there's no point in leaving annoying comments because Hanson fans (of which there are many), are never going to feel differently about them.
So, Hanson may not be a pop culture icon. Thay may not get mainstream radio play, they may not get enough promotion, they may even have been forgotten by a part of their ex fanbase, the part that only cared about the teeny-bopper phenomenon, not actually about the music,. But DAMN, do these guys make beautiful music. Sometimes I feel like I'm not just listening o music with them, but also feeling it and leting it into my heart. You don't listen to Hanson. You feel it.
@TheWebbSean What does it mean, greater? They have beautiful music and they love what they do.What could be greater than that.Plus music is not a popularity contest and I thought Hanson's already a pop culture icon anyways since they came out with Mmmbop. That was a great accomplishment from kids aged 11,14, 16 at that time, and inspired so many in that generation to pick up instruments and appreciate the art and story of music. Love Hanson!!!
@TheWebbSean Also the song Great Divide is for a cause on AIDS in Africa&was recorded with a children's choir in Soweta-proceeds of the download of ths song go to the Perinatal HIV Research Unit in Soweto, South Africa
This is the first teeny bopper band that I've seen survive and actually become a great musical talent. I came across them by accident about 2 years ago...and Great Divide is honestly one of my favorite albums now. I think I may actually like their music as much as my own...lol. Well...maybe not that much.
I've always been a Hanson fan but there is no way you can put them in the same sentence as the Beatles. The greatest bands of our time are bands like Led Zeppellin and U2. I'm not trying to sound harsh but if you think Hanson is on the same level you're seriously disturbed.
It's very interesting that their songs are not songs which you like at first sight. Every time you listen to them, you like them better and better. Yeah, I like this song!!!!!
@Eviiiish i totally agree...some of their songs r like dat! Even Tay's Tinted WIndows;)After listing to Kind of a Girl the second time, I couldn't stop listening!
I was only familar with mmmbop..Love the song but these guys are Great !
They are a funk band! Great Melodies and a Great Feeeel!
