I remember watching this as a little kid. I work on a Narrow Gauge railroad that's part of the Steam Loco museum now. My fireman used to watch the show too. We even nicknamed one of the stations "Shining Time The Second"
Shining Time Station should be in a museum. I think the California State Railroad Museum because it's the most visted railroad museum in North America.
@BuckHunter613 most of what you saw were reruns. I grew up when it was still fresh and new epsodes made each year. Best show ever made! Im now working on a full sized steam engine as a fireman. Best job ever!
I did always want to have the whistle that GC had used in the series, it looks soooo cool! I'll never outgrow this. RIP GC. Oh and I have a TOMY railway set from 1994 and 1995.
WOW. Seriously. I have the old metal Thomas toys, like 1994 and older. About 30 of them. This show was pure magic. We have such better tv shows these days....yeah, progressive society my a**
@williamatkinson100 i agree with you i'm 21 this year and man was this show the best thing to watch every morning now a days kids don't know what realy cartoons are like we do
I was just talking about this with a friend of mine earlier. We are both 23, and we both think that we grew up with the last great batch of childrens' prgramming like this, Today's Special, Mr. Dressup, and all the old-school Nick shows. How is Thomas so popular, yet the show that made him and his friends famous hasn't been seen since 1997?!
R.I.P George... i don't mean to be dissing this or anythin but for the season 1 opening scene i think there was a different sort, im not sure though but whtvr. anyway well done! and i miss shining time :( this is a real kids show and will always be!
Does anyone know the other show that used to come on PBS? it was similar to this one but it had boats, ships, helicopters, bridges, and piers in it. UGH!!!! I WISH I COULD REMEMBER THE NAME OF THAT SHOW!!!! if someone knows the name or could find clips of what i was trying to describe, i would cry like a baby. lol.
@22jan33 i found it about a few days ago when i was going through other videos. it's called Tugs. when i was looking for it a while back, it wasn't posted on here yet.
@ColbertForever06 now i know, but thanks. and that was another great show. if they would only bring those shows back on that meant something that actually taught kids how to treat people as well as learning different things that were good. don't get me wrong, they do have some (not all) nice shows out there, but the shows back then in the 90's were really educational.
Oh god I'm gonna cry *sniffle* I'm 11 but I know all about this show and I love it I have two vhs tapes,Becky makes a wish and something else but they're both season 3,I love Thomas and still do,I have almost all of the Thomas vhs tapes and toys out the butt, thanks for putting this on here :)
@Lavenderlash it was shows like this that made those days worth the while. im glad to see that at least someone of your generation knows a show like this.
@XMilleniumProd yes,I'm a huge fan of old shows like this :) I'm the only person who knows what this is and much more at my school, and I only wish that I wasn't the only one who knew this show or an actor like Corey Haim(I'm a huge Corey Haim fan) I'm trying to find other vhs tapes so I could have a marothon =^-^=
@RetroVideoFan And, IIRC, reruns ran on Fox Family for a while. I remember on a family trip to San Diego in 1999 watching STS [more specifically the Mr. Conductor's Thomas Tales" episodes].
Shining Time Station is An Absolute Classic I Grew Up Watching as a Child. In My Opinion, it Was One of The Best Kid's Shows During Its Run on PBS, and To a Lesser Extent, Fox Family and Nick Jr. Why Kid's Shows Today Can't Be Like This is Beyond Me.
@FlyingDuckMan360 tell me about it. I love this show very much. the guys on youtube here have put episodes of shining time station on. That was very thoughtful of them, but they don't have all the episodes.
ah the good old days ;)
