  • Home schooled children are, quite often, very well educated in general education. As Paul mentioned, it's safe to assume that the winner of a spelling bee is, very likely, home schooled. BUT, a good number of home schooled children are also, quite often, creationists (or at least obscenely religious.) In my opinion, a person's intelligence is diminished, exponentially, if they deny evolution and believe the Earth is 6000 years old. Hope this makes sense, I'm extraordinarily sleepy.

  • home school is very fucking scary.

You got stupid parents teaching their kids. yup, great idea. Bad enough stupid parents can't even raise their kids while they go to public school.

  • Homeschooled and supporting Ron Paul!

  • I have been home schooled for a year and a half (im in 9th grade) and I love it so much. Way, way better than the failing public school system :).

  • I think public education needs to be changed. Since the early 1970's the curriculum has been "dumbed down" to create workers not thinkers. I cannot afford to not work and home school, and I cannot afford private school. In the meanwhile, parents must be more involved in their child's education way up to high school, where morals are lessened. Parents should be held accountable and work with educators

  • Although I agree with Ron Paul that the public schooling system needs a major overhaul not everyone acquires dedicated parents who contains the ability to teach or able to afford private schooling. Some are more unfortunate than others

  • why don't you just 'cut to the chase': "PRO WHITE PEOPLE"

  • @aubie0071971 ROFL Exactly with Pauls news letters out in the open all he's done is the blame game for there content and a Teabag walk off ..Time for a reality check Paul fans if the content wasn't what he provided to the editor he would have sued or a retraction would have been written .. Odd nither has happened eh..? Time for reality and not another delusion the GOP is provideing.....

  • HOMESCHOOLING PARENT take RESPONSIBILITY for their childrens education. In public school, kids are exposed to more negatives than positives. Teacher's express too much of their personal opinions, which has nothing to do with the classroom. Teacher's do have favorites, and they also dislike others. (Though they would never say it).

Public schools are not equal, nor do they affer the same quality of education. Are you rich? They your district is probably pretty good. Screw the poor kids!

  • Kinda defeats alot of the purpose of Home Schooling, if you still must shove state sanctioned Carriculum schedules down their throats... :/

  • I was homeschooled, now going for Neurosurgery at a university in Chicago; homeschooling gives the chance for kids to find their direction/calling in life.

  • I home educate my 2 children (7 & 12). Our 12 year old completed 3 years of math in the past 6 months alone, is in an AP US History class & is studying Neuroscience of the Brain @ a college level. Kids do speech & debate & are going to Spain to put their Spanish into practice. If you're dedicated, your children will receive a great education & be well socialized, even if you're only 1 chapter ahead of them or supplement w/ online, video or co-op classes. Added bonus: they like each other!

  • (cont) plus my education was somewhat lacking because my mom handled most of what we were taught and she wasn't a teacher, she didn't go to college. there was only so much she could help me with and so i struggled with math and algebra. plus i feel like i got a distorted view on the history of our country because i was taught only from a christian perspective. i will never home school my children.

  • the problem i have with homeschooling is, i was home schooled from kindergarten until 11th grade. when you are home schooled for that long and the only time you ever go out into the real world is to go to church then you are going to have an extremely distorted view of the real world. i knew about the world from what my parents and my church told me and so when i was 18 and moved out of my parents house i was quite shocked to see what a vast difference it was from what they told me.

  • @tdrpowerl If you went to Public schools.....there would be a good chance that you'd say something like "the problem I have with Public Schools...." as we. NO form of education is perfect. Its all about doing whats right for the individual. Public, Private, and Home-schooling are all valid options depending on the person and the family. Both good and bad people(and normal and weird) come from all three of these forms of education. Its all about which one is best for you.

  • @williwo i totally agree with you that it's about doing what is right for the individual. but it definitely was not right for me. and i know there are plenty of problems with the public schools. but my parents just did it all wrong and wanted to shelter me from as much as they could and that just isn't a smart thing to do.

  • My teacher told me today that she's so tired of people bashing American Public Schools and American HealthCare because their FREE! She goes on to say thats why other countries hate us so much, because we get free stuff all the time and we are fortunate. So she's tired of people who don't want foreign countries to hate us. By her own logic she likes people hating on America. Taking prayer out of public schools? How about taking the teachers bias teaching away. Facts ma'am FACTS.

  • (Cont.) Also, my friend who's home-schooled is BEHIND. She struggles with math because she's to a point where her mom can't explain to where she fully understands it. Yes she has the books to learn, but that's not enough. She is currently a Sophomore but she has to take algebra again because she struggled with it so much.

  • I used to be home schooled kindergarten through 3rd grade. I loved home- school. My parents decided to put me in public school in 4th grade. I now am in 11th grade. While I loved being home-schooled, I actually prefer public school. Why? Because I get to the point now where my parents aren't able to help me with some of my homework such as pre-cal. Yes my mom took pre-cal in HS but doesn't remember it well. It's the same with physics and chemistry. Anyone else see this problem?

  • I went to private schools for 9 years from 1st thru 9th grade. Then from 10th thru 12th I went to public school. Public school was a piece of cake compared to private school. Then after about 10 years after finishing my undergrad, I had made friends with a whole bunch of people who home-schooled their kids. Aside from English these kids were learning Greek, Portuguese, taking gymnastics classes, and doing all kinds of other things you wouldn't normally see in a public school. I was impressed!

  • @bp50blu That is true. Problem is, it only works for families that can afford it. I would have loved gymnastics as a kid, but there was nothing available in my area, an we probably couldn't afford it anyway. Best ed goes to the people who can afford it.

  • @ChaosImperial These kids' families are far from rich. All of them have stay@home moms; the dad's aren't rich by any means. They just live frugally & aren't materialistic: no cable-tv, not big fans of name-brand stuff. Each family is very different from each other, but the parents' commitment to homeschool'g their kids is what stands out. They're just like other kids. I tutored one family's daughter and she's doing well in college. Some of the other kids are just average. Homeschool'g is fine.

  • @ChaosImperial My family wasn't rich, or even well off. It wasn't a matter of being able to afford it. We struggled with bills, but my mom was determined to give us the best education as in my area we have a 25% literacy rate (meaning only 25% of people can read at or above their grade level). I didn't get to learn extra curricular things, but I did learn critical and free thinking.

  • Having a "one size fits all" nation program discourages innovation. The 50 states and their various school districts need the freedom to try what they think will work in their area and not to have the Feds butt into state education business. Ideas that fail can be dropped and ideas that are successful will be copied by other states.

The NBLA and the DOE was a completely failure too.

  • Well Home Schooling has a huge advantage in terms of literature. I get to read stuff like "Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" or Caesar's "Comentarri" (bad spelling?) rather than the books we read in Middle School.

But I'll still miss Math Team. Not to mention that in terms of Math or Science, it's better to be Public Schooled since you're being trained by a professional rather than your parents, who may or may not be a professional. And you're not being taught Creationist crap.

  • @DarkZerkerX math team? lmao wtf? i'm doing online schooling by myself who the fuck needs parents? just go to real school if you need a teacher...I got courses, ap classes, everything and the only difference between a brick and mortar school and online school is I can sit at my computer do my work and do whatever I want whenever I want..freedom..but I have to work hella harder because although the tests matter the assignments have so much work put into it unlike regular high school

  • @itsanawesomeguy There are those who can do that and those who can't do that. Some people don't have computers or don't have access to online courses. Besides, yeah, High School tests are a drag and really easy but the SATs are a bit more challenging and the easy tests are to prepare you for those challenges.

  • Comment removed

  • @itsanawesomeguy The age to start school is five. Many children don't even want to be left when taken to school for the first time. So essentially, you think children should be forced to start school, get in the habit of it, make friends there, and then have their parent say, 'Hey, homeschooling is an option too. What would you like to do?' By then, most children who aren't being bullied will probably choose school. Public school is not an option for my child. I want her to be well educated.

  • @DarkZerkerX If the textbook is good enough, just reading it will teach you. That's how my mother and I learned much of what we did in public school. There was no personal time with teachers unless it was on their personal time. I haven't met one yet who thought anyone was worth that time, so we had to learn everything ourselves.

As for creationist crap, personally, I'm not Christian, and it really doesn't matter what I am because I don't see religion as an appropriate school subject anyway.

  • @DarkZerkerX EXACTLY. In terms of math and science it's better to be taught by a professional. I'm taking pre-cal and although my mom took it in HS, she doesn't remember it well enough to teach it to me. And I was homeschooled K-3rd grade.

  • @krisallenisawesome It just depends, I can teach myself math, but I've always loved and excelled at math so it's second nature to me... But if I relied on my parents to teach me it wouldn't be so good. I'd say get a tutoring for math is good for homeschooled kids.

  • I wish i can go to Homeschool, it is better. I go to public school and it DID NOTHING TO EDUCATE ME. Just some random ass teachers who force their workd down to our thoughts.

  • How about we have a competition between a home schooler and a student in school. at lets say middle school level now there's one answer the student will probably always get wrong. by no fault of his/her own and that is what is our money backed with the answer is nothing. but I truly believe most home schoolers aren't taught shit unless there family hires a teacher....!

  • Most people who don't agree with homeschooling have no Idea what they actually do. In my opinion, sitting in public school for 7 hours with teachers that cannot control their classes is a complete waste of time. Once the educational system is fixed, public school might be worth taking a look at. Ill be graduated by the time that comes around anyways...

  • When Glenn Beck says this, people call him crazy, when Paul says it people believe him.

today Glenn dedicated the whole program to homeschooling,

  • I'm sorry, but homeschooling is bullshit, to deregulate it, even worse. I don't trust the parents to educate kids in science, history, math, literature, etc. without having been properly learned in that field. Now if the parent has degrees in all parts of the curriculum they teach, then fine, but they shouldn't be teaching a class on history if they have no knowledge of it. Would we allow people to homeschool university? Absolutely not, then why is primary school any different?

  • @calthopian As a non-US citizen I have to say that public education in the US is worse than home-learning. Public education in the US is really disappointing, they have lousy grades, and lousy behaviour. In contrast, home-schooling is way better, with current technology and the huge amount of resources on-line, it is not hard for the parent to teach a kid. Also, kids can be taught proper morals.

  • @williamjpiano With all due respect, homeschooling is far worse than public schooling. Especially in the US where 75% of homeschoolers are Evangelical Christian Children whose parent's don't like how "secular" the public schools are and want to teach them creationism rather than real science. If you insist on homeschooling, there should be a standardized curriculum that makes sure the students are learning, not just messing around.

  • @calthopian I stand corrected thanks for the fact. Maybe the government should at least regulate the necessary curriculum.

  • @williamjpiano Great idea! Let the government define what is "scientific" and monopolize on whatever beliefs they want to pursue. Science is not a source of 100% reliable information. It is merely a bunch of ideas declared as facts and forced down the American public, just like global cooling was in the 1940's. If government wanted to, they could convince people that genetically modified food is good for your health (Ah, but it's enriched and scientific; if you don't believe it go F yourself).

  • @calthopian bullshit? lmao do you even know how it works? 70% of homeschoolers do it online, so they do have qualified teachers. and the other percentage of poeple, are taught by their parents. and you know what the state does when you wanna do that? they send in the board of education TO YOUR HOUSE and MAKE SURE your parent is qualified, they take tests, iq tests, and even the SAT...AGAIN...just so they know that you will get a good education..dont talk about things that you have no knowlege of

  • @calthopian you know something......i think you're bullshit. Like kids are actually getting taught those things sufficiently in Public Schools? Are you joking?? The Drop-out rate is pathetic....most kids coming out of High School can't spell or write worth shit.......and many don't even know when World War 2 ended. I just recently met a Public-schooled College student who didn't even know who Ronald Reagan was. Yeah, the Public Schools are doing such a finnnnee job....Psshhh, gimme a break.

  • Homeschooling is the future!

You don't have to worry about sending your school ruled by minorities, intolerant bullies, and don't have to worry about putting your child through emotionally stressful environments.

I'm going to homeschool my children and I can't wait till I have them!

  • @MinmatarThrasher Good for you. I was homeschooled, from about 12 yrs old on. Unlike some negative opinions out there, I was not sheltered and did not lack social skills. I graduated high school at home, then went on to an accredited college and got my degree...graduating with honors. (GPA was 3.8 for my 4 years of college.) My two children did go to public schools, but I made a point of working one-on-one with them at home with their homework and did some of the at-home learning things.

  • Maybe when people are paid a living wage and stop consuming until they're broke, one parent would be able to stay home and school the children. But then what should be expected?Should parents be required to teach science and history according to fact and evidence? Or present their own unfounded ideologically based curricula? Should there be required out of home studies etc? It just seems like a real slick way to try and de-fund even MORE public education. Our kids don't need that.

  • If ron paul doesn't win - this country is officially dead.

  • "Cāṇakya Paṇḍita says: viśvāsaṁ naiva kartavyaṁ strīṣu rāja-kuleṣu ca. Viśvāsaṁ naiva kartavyam. "Don't trust women." Viśvāsaṁ naiva kartavyaṁ strīṣu. Strīṣu means women. Rāja-kula... And politicians."

  • Homeschooling, the future of education.

  • @odonovanshn123, There is no such thing called a true American, people can be sincerely wrong you know!

  • I think that I've finally found an issue with which I disagree with Ron Paul. But I'd still vote for him just because he's one of the few honest men to grace the political arena in 100 years if not longer.

  • @lanebriand Why would you disagree with him on this?

  • @williwo I disagree with Ron Paul because home-schooling was not beneficial to the children of 5 of the 6 families I knew growing up that home-schooled their children. The children often turned 18 without the necessary social skills to survive on their own at 18, and often knew very little. One 20-year-old I know, who was homeschooled by his well-meaning but poorly educated mother, still adds & subtracts with his fingers. Another girl became a prostitute to pay bills when her parents died.

  • Public schools indoctrinate children, too. We_ teach our children (homeschoolers or public or private schoolers) what we think is important. That is the beauty of being in this great country - we have the freedom to do so. :)

  • @herdingkittens but you can also teach children to be radical christians, muslims, mormons, jews or nazis. That's the horrible side of it.

  • Comment removed

  • If i was homeschooled, think of all the books I could've read, and all of the books that I wouldn't have been forced to read. I could've traded that stupid "The Waltons go to Birmingham" for "20,000 leagues under the sea" . I could've replaced "An American Tragedy" with "War of the Worlds" - Instead nof being a sheep led to the pasture, I could've been whoever myself turned out to be.

  • @FaidleyEthan You can read both? That's what weekends and holidays are for. I mean not only do you have the weekends, but you have thanksgiving, spring break, winter break, and summer break. More than enough time to read every book you have ever wanted to read.

  • @FaidleyEthan Yeah whatever homeschooling is for faggots

  • @Thelonesniper101 ya its for smart faggots who end up having good jobs, wives and kids with and understanding of the constitution... those are the kind of faggots i want in my country.....

  • @driftalotapus Smart or not, still faggots.

  • @Thelonesniper101 Homeschoolers aren't the ones going into locker rooms and showering with 20-30 of their closest same sex friends under the watchful eyes of their coaches.

    Just sayin'

  • @carrieLuce1 Umm.... We don't do that at our school?

  • @Thelonesniper101 doesn't matter about your school but too many PUBLIC middle/high schools have locker rooms(a menace of privacy)

  • @iopposemainstream umm ours does too and I can tell you we have stalls for privacy and no coaches come on the locker room

  • @Thelonesniper101 Congratulations! Your one school has stalls. The schools here don't. Since our public schools DO have the problem I've listed, you can't say that public schools in general don't have that problem. Only that your school has managed to avoid it.

In contrast, a lack of locker rooms is pretty much the standard for homeschoolers.

  • @Thelonesniper101 Congratulations! Your one school has stalls. The schools here don't. Since our public schools DO have the problem I've listed, you can't say that public schools in general don't have that problem. Only that your school has managed to avoid it.

  • @Thelonesniper101 Takes one to know one

  • He can't become president because it would actually mean progress for this country as a nation. If he ended up becoming president, he would be shot down just like the last person that was actually worthy of running america

  • @FaidleyEthan fortunately that person wasn't killed(though he nearly was)

  • This guy is a moron, anyone who doesn't believe in evolution is a non-starter for POTUS. You can be that ignorant in Texas and get elected, truly sad.

  • @disrxt Apparently you don't know that much about creation theory...perhaps the same could be said about you...

  • @Sommer0810 It's not a 'creation theory' it the fetishizing of a book of Bronze Age Myths by the ignorant. Theories are scientific propostions that are peer reviewed, that make predictions that can be tested and verified. I know all about 'creation theory', it's proponents are liars who discount and distort evidence that does not conform to the Bible. The antithesis of the scientific method they start with a premise and only consider 'evidence' that supports their foregone conclusion.

  • @disrxt both evolution and creation are based on assumptions...and theories are made on those assumptions using the scientific method. You must not forget that they are made on assumptions...to do so would be tragic. You have obviously bit the evolution theory bait...hook, line and sinker. Everything you have said can absolutely be turned around and said about evolutionists. The only thing your comment accomplishes is to put someone down. Respect peoples beliefs as you want yours respected.

  • @Sommer0810 Show me one peer reviewed paper that supports a 6000-10000 year old earth, a world wide flood, dinosaurs living with humans or intelligent design. There is not a single paper, creation is a religious dogma with no support in any scientific discipline. All you have is a book.

Evolution is a scientific theory. In 150 years every discipline of science has confirmed its efficacy. Thousands upon thousands of peer reviewed articles in scientific journals can be cited. We have evidence.

  • @disrxt the evidence you have does not prove evolution, nor does it disprove creation. Your back to square one here. Peer reviewed papers don't prove something is absolute truth...especially when its based on assumption. If there were peer reviewed papers that supported creation would you accept that as absolute truth?

  • @disrxt oh and you really need to do current research on creation. This comment proves to me that you either lied to me about "knowing all about creation theory", your information is outdated or your information is biased. They are making serious scientific strides.

  • @disrxt Theory is not the same thing as Fact. I DO in fact believe Evolution most likely happened......but when you start getting into the whole thing where the Universe made itself and all that BS(those rocks and matter had to of come from somewhere, unless they just magically appeared all of the sudden.) I would take the idea of a Creator guiding the evolutianary process anyday over the ridiculous assumption that such complexity was the act of complete randomness.

  • @williwo You are obviously a scientific illiterate. Let me inform you of a few 'facts'. A theory is the highest degree of certainty in science, facts are observable data that confirm or support theories.

"Rocks and matter had to come from somewhere unless they just magically appeared" (face palm)That's exactly what your Holy Book says happened you fucking moron. Science makes no such claim. Educate yourself on cosmology, chemistry, biology and physics and get back to me.

  • How curious, I am looking into the merits of home-school education to become more aware of the alternative to private schools and here is Ron Paul advocating it, this guy is on the side of truth and common sense. Little gem coming across this video. Thank you for posting it

  • Google KHAN Academy! These folks are redefining Education! Its a must for all Home Based Education!

  • Thumbs up if you were home-schooled :p

  • Ugh. Why did my parents enrolled me in a Private school. Honestly, I hate going to school. I can't think for myself - I mean, I CAN'T think or observe things MY WAY. Always punished, always in detention, - SCREW it.

A man once said that in school, you get to know the parts of a flower, but you never smelled or held one. You cannot apply the things half of your school teaches you, you only memorize things. GOD, WHY AM I NOT HOME SCHOOLED. Most of my classmates are freaks.

    I HATE SCHOOL!

  • My wife and I both work full time. I work in Aviation, and she is a Registered Nurse. Our oldest daughter was in 7th grade, and our youngest in 2nd, when we made the decision to home school. Our oldest daughter has Aspergers. While very intelligent, she could not concentrate on her assignments due to the constant teasing from her peers. To say the least, her grades were suffering and she was depressed. Now they both excell academically, and she is a much happier child.

  • @YellowMastiff66 u made the right choice. her happiness is all that matters

  • Why didn't I vote for this man? One of the biggest mistakes of my life. Lets hope his son is half as good.

  • Homeschoolers are better educated because they use GOOD curriculum, in the public school teachers MUST use junk curriculum because their jobs are on line if they don't. Homeschooled parents get to use great curriculum that is WAY ahead of the public schooled kids. Good for the parents who do this!!! Wonderful!

  • Yeap, another great candidate for president (Ron Paul) even before Bush just keeps on being unnoticed by America and the world when it counts? Why is that so!? Is the world in pearl of not being able to distinguish what is good or bad anymore!? go figure!?

  • I had to re-edumucate my self as an adult. I wish I could have been home schooled. When I went to college, the sharpest ones in the class were home schooled educated.

  • Probably the biggest turn-off about homeschooling is the possibility that super-religious parents will indoctrinate their kids with nonsensical information. I think there should be a rule of fact-based education for sciences and history, because nobody should have the right to teach kids nonsense (like creationism, pseudoscience, conspiracy theories...)

  • @Logoscyth Failing to educate your child is neglect, no different than failing to provide food, clothing or shelter. Given the importance of the theory of evolution to the life sciences any education which does not include an understanding of it is inadequate. You don't have to agree with it but you must understand it in a manner that is consistent with the way it is understood by the scientific disciplines which utilize it.

  • @studentofsmith

It's hard to teach Evolution to public school kids who can't even read.

  • @shawno66

That is so true. The other problem is that they cannot properly utilize the words they CAN read. I am tired of seeing huge spelling mistakes like, "I gave to dogs there food; their going to need full stomacks overnite." It has been a financial hardship to homeschool, but my husband and I feel it has been the correct choice for our son.

  • @Pamela2017 They don't teach grammar properly there are plenty of good websites that teach grammar way better than public schools, it's a shame the way their curriculum is put together, the way they teach they can't encourage critical thinking and challenge them.

  • @shawno66 Haha true, how pathetic, at least allow competition, so if you want to go to a school that secular they can learn things that are secular or if they want to go to a religious school let them do that also

  • Ron Paul is the most qualified person to be president, all else in Congress are spineless scumbags.

  • what good is homeschooling when the parents doing the teaching are most likely morons

  • @shakc82 well in my case and probably most home schooled kids they don't need to, most curriculum teaches the kids except without all the corrupt stuff you learn in public school and if there is something I don't know I'll ask my parents for help and if it's something they don't know (which is rare my parents are pretty smart) most curriculum comes with a teachers guide so it's nice parents get to know what their kids are learning and can teach them extra stuff if they want

  • @shakc82 ... First point, don't rush to call people morons. I am a Professional Aviation Maintenance Instructor for a Major Overnight Cargo Carrier and my wife is a Registered Nurse. We both have countless hours of education with multiple degrees and certificates under our belt. Secondly, we chose to home school because after allowing our kids to stay in the public school system through 7th grade, they were getting a sub par education. Now they are excelling with a bright future ahead of them.

  • when will you people learn, they all sound great when they're campaigning.... keep voting, and keep getting what u deserve... fucked

  • You dont have to be a christian to homeschool, or filter your water, or grow your own food, or want lower taxes.

  • umm ron paul isnt pro-life... he doesnt believe in abortion but he doesnt believe government has a say whether or not to outlaw abortion... He started the pro-choice libertarian sector of the libertarian party...

  • i'm not american but i beleive he is a true American

  • #FAIL

  • Not all children have the possibility to be homeschooled. I think homeschooling is a good thing if the society can make sure it will live up to a certain quality. How can that be done? It can be done by a yearly public examination. If they control it that way, it will be fine. That way i think homeschooling can be much better than a public school.

  • i agree with everthing ron paul says but im hes pro life.

  • All schools should be privatized, and parents who wish to homeschool their children should be able to without any government interference.

  • @oreosphat and what would happen to the millions of children whos parents could not afford to homeschool or send their children to private school??

  • @petergonefar Very simple. Homeschooling doesn't cost any money or take as much time as public school. I know, I was homeschooled. With that in mind, even a very busy parent who doesn't make a lot of money can still homeschool well. So homeschooling is always an option and can be seen as an ultimate solution. Can't afford private school? Homeschool. Not enough time for YOU to homeschool your children, ask family to help homeschool, hire a private tutor, send them to private school. Simple.

  • @petergonefar

I'm going to be a single homeschooling mother will be working part-time as an Out-of-School Hours carer for kids who attend school. The hours between OOSH care and the weekends are when we will do the majority of our "schoolwork".

That being said, I'm more of a natural-learning fan, so most of the lessons will be based around everyday activities.

Its doable for much cheaper cost than public school-I won't have to buy uniforms, or pay for brand new materials every year.

  • Homeschoolign woudl be a great option besides public schools (i am from germany and luckily from what i heard teh public school system isnt as shitty as that from the US ) if it wasnt for the fact that most parents use that to indoctrinate their religious and political views on their children. Parents only teaching crap like creationism should not be allowed to do so.

Look what happened to the children of that insane westboro babtist church family.

  • @TheRedLuigi I'm from America, and I feel like I'm the only home schooled Atheist. I often study evolution and criticize intelligent design.

  • @oldblubblub

Don't worry, there are a lot of secular homeschoolers where I'm from, here in Australia- so you're not the only atheist homeschooler :)

We do it for more educational reasons than religious here, as our Public school system is very fair and secular.

  • @TheRedLuigi Actually insanely enough they go to public school. I saw the video about them being harrassed and picked on at their public school.

  • @steffyb528 those poor bastards. Its not their fault for having stupid ass relatives

  • My parents started me on a Christian homeschooling program. It was one of the only programs available. We realized that these books were just as brainwashing as the way public school was taught, and we would talk frequently about parts that sounded wrong, and later we compared it with non-Christian education when we switched to another program. The point is that I had much more freedom to consider both sides and form my own ideas. I'm currently attending Virginia Tech University with a 3.8 GPA.

  • I agree with Steveizal. I never paid attention to Ron Paul, because as a black american I fixated on Obama. However, I think Ron Paul is more in touch with reality.

  • @PhilliphsDanny75757 A lot of people "fixated" on Obama's color rather than his politics and somehow that is not called racism. One should never vote for a person based on their race...that is by definition--racism! Paying attention to what all of the candidates' policies are and then making a decision based upon where they stand I thought was the basis of good citizenship...it is also what I teach my children: educate yourself so that you can make informed decisions about everything in life!

  • @proleikohomeschool By definition, what you just said is not racism.

  • He deserves to be president for this video alone :O

  • This is exactly why he will not be allowed to win!

  • There are millions of parents, who are not homeschoolers, teach their children everyday and they do a much better job than public school teachers. The way curriculum is wrote, it makes it easy to teach the kids. Also, their are alot of online schools parents can enroll their children in. If you haven't educated yourself on homeschooling, and the curriculum options then your opinion on "parents having to hire a tutor" should be kept to minimum.

  • @rtcall1 First off, both my parents are physicians, so how the hell are they supposed to take off 8 hours a day to home school me? Not all parents can do that because they do a little thing called WORK.

And by the way, I'm not trying to be rude, but part of your comment is grammatically incorrect and you misused the correct form of 'THERE.' Maybe you should rethink home schooling...

  • @hannabthemd i don't know how old you are but maybe your parents should punish you for your language. I am to young to be teaching anyone. I am nine years old. My mom registered for youtube and my twin brother and I like to watch video's. Mom suggested we watch this video and tell her what we thought. What I am thinking now is if schools are filled with rude foul mouthed kids like you, I am glad my mom gave up her career to school us.

  • @rtcall1 First off, how was I a "foul mouth?" And second, I'm 28 and I'm also a doctor. So no, my parents can't punish me and neither can you, especially since you're a child and I'm an adult and I didn't even say any derogatory terms. What was your mother's career? Because I can guarantee you she wouldn't give up her career if she were a doctor or lawyer. And if you've never heard curse words, that's good. You're nine. But don't pee your pants when you do hear them...

  • @hannabthemd you said both your parents are physicians how can they take off to teach you. If you were 28yo you would have been said something like "I have to work instead of teach". Not to mention if you were 28yo you wouldn't be jumping down a kids throat. Instead you sound like bored rotten little kid, who misses his mom. If you are 28yo then you are a very immature one.

I am done with this coversation. I prefer to talk to someone intellegent.

  • @rtcall1 Hmmm if you prefer to talk to someone INTELLIGENT, then you might want to spell it correctly first.

  • @hannabthemd That's very narrowminded to assume a woman wouldn't put her career on hold to homeschool a child. Plenty of them do. I put my writing career on hold for a year, another woman on my homeschool board decided to go from being a lawyer to working part-time from home as a legal secretary, a man decided since he had been a doctor for 15 years, he'd stay at home to homeschool. LOTS of parents are more then willing to sacrifice their career plans.

  • @AlbertaRose94 And also, why is it assumed that they must sacrifice anything to succeed at homeschooling ? People think that since the public system has kids sitting in class for 7-8 hours/day that homeschooling must mimic that. Yet when parents give their children the individual attention they need they learn much faster. They can also learn more independently which is discouraged in the public system that focuses on collective and group activity (which in turn has a dumbing down effect).

  • @garett69 Blink blink blink. Tell me ANY daycare that will accept a child age 6 or older ALL day, five days a week. You can't have both parents working full-time, daytime and the 6+ staying home alone. One of the parents HAS to give up working outside the home daytime in order for homeschooling to work. In this day and age it's the minority who have some place they can leave their homeschooled child while they both work outisde the home.

  • @AlbertaRose94 I guess we have different ideas of what a "career" entails. I've been self-employed so long I hadn't considered someone with inflexible hours, or who couldn't bring the child to work, telecommute / work from home, hire an in-house nanny or tutor etc. I often work 16 hour days but much of that is conducted at home. I've never felt the need to sacrifice & if educating my children were sacrificial in nature that could only mean there's nothing to gain from having children.

  • @AlbertaRose94 I also think you slightly misunderstood me. I wasn't trying to claim that everyone, under all circumstances can always have their cake and eat it too; merely to point out that home-schooling doesn't *necessarily have* to mean giving up other ambitions. It's all about identifying your goals and how they coincide with the nature of reality. Working for a job with strict requirements on your time doesn't really coincide nicely with raising kids in general.

  • @rtcall1

Wow, I am quite impressed with your comment. For nine years old, you are definitely on the right track. Most children your age would have numerous spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. Keep it up little guy! :)

  • Nearly every homeschooler I've ever known was brainwashed into some religious dogma by their parents. Unless the parents themselves are qualified teachers, homeschoolers should be taught by private tutors.

  • i don't understand how anyone can raise a child in the united states.

  • WE see a lot of homeschoolers at The Great American Dollhouse Museum and one of the things they really seem to have in common is their wish to emphasize that they are NOT all alike, politically, religiously, or in terms of their reasons for choosing homeschooling.

  • I'm an atheist and i'm all for homeschooling!

  • @FaithlessLiberty Im a christain and for unschooling or home schooling. what does the nature of your belife have to do with it? Being an atheist is not beliving in anything. My point is the whole system is controlled by the devil. And I can prove it.

  • I'm Currently Home Schooled although I was in Public Schools until the end of 10th grade then my family chose to home school. I am a strong advocate for Home Schooling. It is great for the growth of youth today to stand up for the way our country should be ran, also students who are home schooled do very well. I went up 2 total points on my act, after 4 months of home schooling & math score went up 8 points. Being home educated is a great way to focus on individual needs in my case it was math.

  • I like Ron Paul's views on a lot of things, but I couldn't disagree with him more on Education. Although there are problems with our public school system, we can't just throw it away. Not everyone's parents are intelligent enough to teach their children, nor could they all be able to afford books and materials to teach them. The few home-schooled children I've met have been more intelligent than that of public school children, but they have also come from more affluent families who hired tutors.

  • you are right, but instead of forcing public schools as the only option, could not we fund those that wish to school in a different manner separately? Part of the reason so few are homeschooled or in private schools is because we have tax dollars taken from us to pay for public services, so when a private school or home-school child is paying not only for the costs associated with this, but ALSO the tax we all pay for the public option... So tax credits for private and home ed. would be good.

  • As a fairly new fan of Ron Paul for reasons other than homeschooling, this just makes me love him that much more! His comments are dead on -- homeschoolers are incredibly bright & know how to THINK for themselves! Logic is a lost art, but it is so refreshing to be able to carry on an intelligent conversation w/a respectful kid who is well read & has an educated opinion on what's going on in the world! Ron's "End the Fed" campaign shows me he's not afraid to stand up against the elite. Go Ron! <3

  • ALL of the world's entire world history is completely impoverished from about the 1900s-on. No one in public schools even learns a THING about modern history; the complicated matters of "economics" and "law" are put in the hands of "experts"; the government makes sure of that. Honeschoolers are proof that any idiot can understand government, law and politics, and I would say this is one of the chief issues of our modern world.

  • Ron Paul is perhaps the best Presidential Hopeful USA

has had since Sen. Barry Goldwater in 1964...

  • I never finished the 8th grade, got a GED and now I go to a fairly small university. Most kids there are bright eyed zombies. Most of the work is just memorization and involves little thinking. Im in a global perspectives class and I doubt my teacher knows what he's talkin about half the time.

Ive learned more from the internet and reading things on my own. They really do give diplomas to just about anyone; as long as they know how to take orders i suppose.

  • parents know there children better than any retarded teacher that reads out of a book.. our government is just scared that we will become more and more dumb so they enforce strict schooling on us.. i feel thats the wrong way to go.. when it come to most teens and children that ive known through my life they are rebellious to strict rules and boring book work! get rid of public schooling overall is my opinion.. i got expelled from a HS for leaving school mid day.. whats that say about control?

  • expelled holy shit haha one day i skipped school and some one called the cops and they were like "theres a kid out here! shouldnt he be in school?" i got "arrested" and they took me back to school. haha no suspension or anything holy crap that sucks man!

  • oh ya it does suck! since then people have told me that that specific school now has gotten insane! for instance they added:

    8' fence around the school

    drug sniffing dogs

    two sheriffs on staff

    added security gaurds

also there is talk of metal detection

    no baseball caps allowed

    no hoodies allowed

    ect.

its become more like prison since i left that school! save our children!

  • Yea at my school the "lockdown drills" actually bring in the drug sogs and you can actually here them bark! THEN they lie to us on top of it it just makes me so mad I could kill and we are having weapon searches and this is a FUCKING MIDDLE SCHOOL IN KNOXVILLE TENNESSEE!
