  • looks like the tables floating lol great review

  • do u have medium or high rings on your axis

  • awesome review man. I'm getting the savage axis in 30-06 when i get my tax return and im pretty excited about it lol. cant wait to see how my 100yd groupings are when i get it!

  • great review very informative.....would you recommend a 243 or 30-60? im in the market for a fun rifle that i can take target shooting and do a little hunting with if i feel the need. what rifle would you suggest?

  • @Predsfan89 I say you can't go wrong with either, BUT it depends on what you want to hunt. 30-06 is gonna be a bit better for animals on the larger side of things, but the .243 will serve you better on coyote sized game.

  • @hausofguns yeah i dont reckon ill be hunting that big of game. deer probably but thats it. mainly just want something fun to shoot. whats the comparison with the ammo prices?

  • @Predsfan89 .243 is going to give you great variety and be substantially cheaper than the 30-06.

  • @hausofguns thanks for the help sir. you are a gentleman and a scholar.

  • Purchased a 25-06 and a 22-250 for my son and myself about a month ago. These rifles are very accurate! Factory loads shot 1" groups in the 25-06 and a little less in the 22-250. Started reloading and shrunk the groups, so far, to .6" in the 25-06 and .3" in the 22-250. Havent finished working a load for the 25, I think it will shoot better. I have not had any issues with these rifles. The triggers needed a little work but other than that you cant ask for a better rifle for hunting/shooting.

  • You have the rifle locked down to a bench that wobbles like a $25 computer desk lol.

  • @needparalegal Haha, it may appear to be that way, but I assure you this bench when used properly locks down tight. Now whether or not I always remember to use the lock on it is another story, haha.

  • Hey, great vid! I had a savage 110 chambered in 260 remington that i lost in a house fire last year. Loved the gun and was looking to replace it with an axis 243. Was going to use as a double purpose (deer and coyote). Think that would work for me?

  • @allisdad08 You'll probably want a different load for each but it would be a perfect gun to use for multi-purpose hunting.

  • @hausofguns Thanks, my wife seen where i had commented and watched your vid, guess what my early christmas gift was today? lol! thanks for the vid, it was the most helpful of all i watched! keep up the good work!

  • is it called edge or axis?

  • @cott10r It was originally the Edge. Then they realized they infringed on someone else's territory and changed it to the Axis. So now the Axis is the same as the Edge was a year ago. That's why I have both names in the review title.

  • I can tell that after recording you were like "OH NO! THE AUDIO IS HORRIBLE!"

    Don't worry dude, it's still a good video :)

  • @DantheAuthor Easily one of the kindest, most observant and encouraging comments I've had to date. Thanks for the vote of sympathy, Dan! We've since bumped up to a audio technica wireless lapel mic and it's made a WORLD of difference.

  • Do you think this savage gun is better, or the remington 770? I will be shooting deer with it if that makes a difference.

  • @asalo0883 DO NOT buy the 770!!!! Savage is better hands down. You'll be very satisfied for this on deer sized game. Be sure to choose the appropriate ammo combination too. Or the Axis in a larger caliber.

  • Great review. Are you still liking this gun as well as you did when this vid was shot? Looking at getting my wife a rifle for Christmas and have not owned a Savage in my life. Thanks

  • @Albee4ty5 NEVER shot a Savage rifle I didn't like. STILL extremely accurate, rugged, reliable and lightweight/easy to carry. Your wife would dig this gun.

  • Well I was going to get the Remington 770, but after watching this, I changed my mind, thanks a ton for the great review

  • @aengles113 Glad is was helpful. I STILL stand by by this rifle as do I most all Savage firearms. Do me a favor and write Savage a letter after you get it with Haus of Guns listed in it and tell them to SEND ME MORE! :)

  • @hausofguns Alright for sure man

  • Can you buy an aftermarket accutrigger or not. I like the idea of the heavier bullet. More take down power at longer distances.

  • @TwoStageTrigger You CAN buy an aftermarket trigger but it's not gonna be an accutrigger. If you're in love with the accutrigger you might not like this one. That said, I found it to be a great hunting quality trigger with no play and a clean brake at 5 pounds.

  • do you think the accuracy would be about the same if it was the same gun in .308 caliber?

  • @bassmaster11294 Check the comment section on the post on our main page haus of guns dot com. Guys talking EXTREME accuracy on 308, 223 and fewest about the 243 which I have.

  • great review.

  • great review, i just bought an axis xp .308 yesterday and went straight to the range, it wasn't accurate out of the box, but i later found that the scope was a little loose on the mount. i got this rifle for target comps and hunting. i think it is a great rifle, and as i hate to say it, i personally think it is better than the Remington 700. but that's just my opinion.

  • i'm glad you did this review it,s the best one i've seen on this rifle. just put in an order for the .223, sould be good for the deer and yote here in south Alabama!

  • Havin trouble deciding on this or the marlin XS7

  • That was a great review on how wind sounds, now if I could understand what you said.

  • @everettwilliams31 Thanks for noticing. Or not. You might have noticed this was our first video ever so we had some bugs to work through. Apologies if it was to distracting or ruined your experience. Hope you come back and continue to watch our videos as they improve.

  • i just finished doing some range time this morning with my edge .270. i have pictures of it too and i tried to take video but the batteries died and i figured i would just record range test at a later time. i pulled off .65 MOA with a 3 round group at just about .50 MOA. the reason why i am writing is because you suck at your Marksmanship. Albeit i do have extensive training and experience. I say you suck because you have a damn lead sled. If i had one i guarantee id pull off .35 MOA.

  • @sgtleroym but all I had this morning was a 4x4 piece of shot up wood i picked up from the range. I thought my group sucked but i realized after watching countless videos afterwards that 95% of people who shoot......average groups far worse than mine but then again, they arent in the same category as me. Whoopty Doo Bazel

  • @sgtleroym Haha wow, thanks I think. I'm constantly amazed at the accuracy of this gun for such an inexpensive piece. Also, no lead sled. It's a cheapo Shooter's Ridge swivel rest I used as a combo bench/vise. It's been dumped and now I'm pretty much sticking with the CTK Precision Ultimate Rest. It's absolutely rock solid. I'd like to see your pictures, or even better yet if you wanted to upload them then add the links to the comment section on the post on the main site I'd welcome it.

  • @sgtleroym You suck just for being rude and you should post a video backing up your talk but this time make sure your batteries are good..HA HA.

  • @toddclites ummmm....no

  • And...I liked you rreview. Thumbs Up!

  • I was wondering why everyone seems to go from .223 to .243 and completely skip over the 22-250? I like the .243 alot, but the 22-250 is a rocket on rails and I absolutely love it. What's the deal with that?

  • @bigdogbuc Honestly? Hand loading I can get NEARLY the same speeds as the 22-250 out of my 243 with an even heavier bullet. The 58 Grain Vmax screams at 3900+ fps and has much more energy than the 250. Not ALL are like that, but that's why I went with it. That and the ability to load heavier bullets (up to 110 grain) capable of taking larger game with ease. Its the perfect transition gun for my daughter to go from a youth rifle to an adult gun in a mild caliber. That's why I went with it.

  • @hausofguns Just wanted to know your thoughts on why. I looked up some ballistics on the .243 and I didn't realize that it screamed as fast as it does. Assumed bigger/heavier/slower. I was wrong. I enjoyed my .243 tremendously but I hand load for my kids 22-250, a Stevens 200 (55 gr. ballistic tip w/ 38 gr. H380) and pop ragged holes with it at 200 yds. I just picked up a chrono so I'll run some over it and see what I've got. Just trying to decide if I want the Axis in .243, 22-250 or .308

  • @bigdogbuc caliber has to be at least .24 in centerfire for deer hunting in my state by law :(

  • Wow, crappy audio.

  • Im still trying to learn my rifles before i buy one. I narrowed it down to this and the remington 700 (mostly because i want a magazine) my question is if a 7mm-08 barreled rifle can also fit a 30-06 caliber?

  • @lostd00d Per your question: " if a 7mm-08 barreled rifle can also fit a 30-06 caliber?" Absolutely NOT! The 7m and .30 caliber shoot two different sized bullets, the 7mm = .284 caliber, the 7.62mm = .30 caliber. This means the 30 is actually larger in diameter than the 7mm. Shooter the wrong cartridge/caliber load through a rifle is very dangerous and even life threatening. Do NOT mix and match guns & different sized rounds....

  • @hausofguns

Ok thanks i didnt know that... I don't have the, or even a rifle yet i'm just trying to learn more before i do but seriously thanks alot i didnt know that

  • @lostd00d If your question is in reference to whether or not a 7mm-08 barrel could be put on a 30-06 action the answer is still "no". The 30-06 is what you would call a "long action" cartridge, while the 7mm-08 which is essentially a necked down .308 Winchester is a short action cartridge. Different bolt length, different action/receiver length, etc. They're not friends, it won't work, please don't try it.

  • my savage 116 30-06 like hornady interloc bullets and i agre witht he ear protection. Icant hear as good out of my right ear from shooting shotguns and muzzleloaders most my life.

  • iron sights? are you able to mount some

  • Great review! Have you tested the gun at longer ranges (i.e. 500 yds)? If so, what kind of accuracy did you get out of it?

  • @skibum4022 Unfortunately thanks to my other reviews and time commitments I haven't been able to shoot it beyond 100. I do however have friends shooting it at coyotes and ranging it beyond 400 yards with great success.

  • wich is bether savage edge or the remington 700?

  • @outskool100 Both are great guns. The Edge/Axis is a great shooter, and so is the Remington 700. As far as a proven design with higher bolt/action function the 700 is still going to edge this one out and also have a higher resale value. BUT that doesn't mean it's necessarily a better shooter.

  • I have an Edge in .30-06 that shoots subs 1" very consistently. I too have a Nikon prostaff but I got my 3-9x40 for only $99. They're amazing for the price.

  • @Ven86 Ironically some of the best priced rifles are the best shooters too. Glad you're as happy as we are!

  • Good review dude.i have one of these in .308 its a beautiful thing. Can't wait for moose season

  • @420hatebreed666 Haha thanks brother. Any SUB MOA rifle at SUB break the bank costs IS a beautiful thing!

  • This confused me, I had the edge in .243 and the 1:6 rifling wasnt accurate at all witht he 58 grain hornadies, but it stabalized 80-100 grain rounds perfectly, it seems odd how yours shoots those light loads so beautifully!

  • @ShootingStuffCanada Is yours just a 1:6 or 1:6.25 twist? Min is the 6 1/4 twist. Doesn't seem like enough to do anything, but it sure did shoot lights out.

  • Fantastic review! I can tell you are a nice person also, not one of those gun snobs that are full of themselves. Keep up the good work! I am getting one of these in a week or so!! Can't wait!

  • I decided 2-3 months ago that this would be my first centerfire rifle :) Reallly nice price on it & my local shop has the Axis XP on sale so a scope bore sighted & installed already, very nice. Great review too, best one on the Edge/Axis! Looks like an awesome spot to shoot too! I only go to ranges for now.

  • @EverythingisFire Thanks so much for the kind words! I am EXTREMELY satisfied with mine. Very comfortable rifle to shoot and carry as well. I am fortunate to have a couple really quality places to shoot right now, nothing wrong with using a range though. Good way to meet great people and learn a few things too.

  • @hausofguns

Definitely! But I also have to pay $ to be there haha. I can't go as often as I would want to. My closest outdoor range only goes out to 50 yards so I'll have to look into these two farther ones (I think they're both an hour away) to use my rifle at. Oh by the way, even though the rifle doesn't come with the accustock or accu-trigger, they can be added on later, right?

  • @EverythingisFire 2 things come to mind to help you out. Look into the Nikon Spot on Software. I've got a review on Haus of Guns dot com that explains how it works. It essentially helps you site your gun in for long distances even if you just have a shorter range. Also, not sure about the accu stock but I know Accu Trigger doesn't come in an aftermarket add. Though you can add a Rifle Basix trigger for about $80. They're quality.

  • be careful when u clean this guy it has a rotating bolt head and if u put it back in and its not in the proper position it wont pick up the next round in the mag.

  • @nick9g Thanks for the tip. Will keep that in mind during the next disassembly/cleaning.

  • Great video, liked the action, have found the savage .22 rifle accurate over 60m. Cheers Mick

  • @mickjb100 Thanks Mick! I've got a Savage 17HMR as well with the AccuTrigger and it's lights out to 200 yards. All of my 100 yard groups are dime sized consistently with all types of factory ammo.

  • @hausofguns The Savage shoots fine but I still prefer my Henry Lever Action. cheers Mick

  • Great Job sir, I myself have been really researching the Savage Edge/Axis. And this video is a really good review for anyone looking for a reference in buying the Edge/Axis. In other videos u jus hear them talk about it, while in your video , you actually go through firing and functioning of the rifle. Thanks for making this video. I know now that i will be buying this rifle for sure.

  • @n8iveshkii Thanks for the great encouragement! My goal with my videos and reviews is to be informative, state the facts, and show the results along the way. Glad you liked it. Feel free to share my youtube channel AND the main site with friends :)

  • This is the best reveiw I have seen on the savage Axis/edge To Date and I have seen more than a few. Great job! Every time I see a reveiw on the accuarcy of Savage rifles it makes me even more comfortable about my decision to buy the Savage Axis in .223. I can get 1 here in Australia for $529 with a bushnell 3-9x40 scope from Cleaver Firearms in At Margate just 25 minutes north of Brisbane.

  • Great Video! I have 2 of them. 1 in .223 & 1 in 22-250 and they are shooters. You can not beat a Savage for accuracy.

  • Great job on this one man! PredatorTalk would like to sponsor you in an upcoming video. Give us a shout out in an upcoming video, and we'll get you a lapel mic for that camera. Thoughts?

  • @predatortalk Always up for working with you guys. Take it easy on the sound critique alright? I'm working on it!

  • Great job! Very thorough and detailed. Work on the sound quality and it would be perfect! Dad
